Correction to one of the speakers: VP Harris wasn't assigned "the border." She was assigned to go into the source countries in South America where many of the migrants were immigrating from, meeting with leadership, and discussing how they could prevent people from leaving in such massive numbers. Be it foreign aid, joint shows of solidarity, etc., her job was very explicitly NOT the border itself. That's actually the same job that Obama assigned Biden when they were in office together. The issues at the border may fall on Biden, but they certainly do not fall on VP Harris.
