    Very informative! Usually battery on my Accord lasted for about 4 years. Next time I will buy bosch.
    However Napa battery is pretty decent too.

      Thanks. Yep, I agree Napa is good. Any battery will suffer premature failure if not properly cared for.

    Where do you find what kind of cold crank value you need to use when testing? (EN, CCA etc)

      Under battery test, just follow the screen prompts, you'll eventually get to the option.

    100% . Most mechanics will put in the battery into the vehicle straight from the shelf. "The car will charge it" - No it will not! That's why car battery chargers exist! Thank you for clarifying this.
    I use cheaper batteries, but will a little bit of maintenance every month, they can last a decade. Seriously. The last battery I replaced, was done preemptively on 9+ years. I still have that battery at 50% SOH and it can start a car, you just need to charge once in a while.

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow. 9 years is quite good. What brand? As you say, that regular charge/desulfation is the key! Since I started it, mine last longer too. This is the first premium battery I'm using. Will see how long it lasts.

      @@DIYAutoworksNG Thanks for this, I´ll never order another car battery over the internet again, purchased a Varta last time that lasted 12 months, obviously defect from the get go due to sitting to long on the shelf, I didn´t even think to check it back then, just threw it on the charger before fitting to the car.. picking up a new battery soon straight from the shop this time, and I´ll now be taking my multi-meter along with me, I´ve had good experience in the past with Branford , a discount battery here in Denmark about half the price of Bosch, Exide and Varta.. I had a Branford sitting in a tractor once that was only used occasionally, and it lasted almost 10 yrs, it was only topped up with a charger/tender through the winter now and then.. was really surprised.

      Good plan for when picking up a battery. I even take it a step further when going in person, I go with a battery tester!

      @@DIYAutoworksNG Yup.. I actually decided myself I would do just that after I commented, but its good to check with an independent volt/multi-meter first apparently.. so I purchased the Konnwei KW600 from amazon and will take both with me.

    I can imagine how long it took by ship to your country . Then to finally arrive to the store for sale . And having heard to test the health , no matter what . And to bring it as close as possible to full health by trickle charging it . I would hope any auto repair shop would do the same !

      Absolutely. Since I started this and routine desufation, my batteries last much longer.

    Great video!!! You covered everything about the topic! thank you so much! I have one question. I own an EFB battery that needs to be recharged. At one side of the battery , its a vent hole for the vent hose. when you recharged your battery how did you deal with the gas emitted from the hole? did you put it in well ventilated area?? i'm asking because i have read that when these batteries are charged, hydrogen (extremely explosive) is emitted. THanks a lot again for the video..! very enlightening ! Take care!!!

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Thanks a million for the compliment, means a lot!
      Yes, I usually charge batteries in well-ventilated areas because of the potential to emit hydrogen during the charging process.

    Just install this AGM battery for my Conventional 2009 Toyota Tacoma, it's won't start at first try, it's started at second try and slowly charge. When im stop at red light the truck is hesitating like its losing power. It's take like an hour to fully charge the battery.

      Given its almost 2 years old, it will be good to charge it up prior to fitting in the car, though AGM's are much more resistant to stratification and sulfation. Good pick!

    Im curious why you used the REPAIR feature instead of CAR setting ?

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  ปีที่แล้ว

      Repair helps breakdown sulfation crystals, and since the battery had been sitting for over a year, I thought to do that. It also charges the battery while at it.

      @@DIYAutoworksNG If your charger is the same as a CTEK the repair /recon function is to de-stratify the electrolyte by charging at a higher voltage and create gas bubbles. My CTEK smart charger starts all recharge programs with de-sulfation.

    is it a rule that thing about low SOH? Mi new battery (80D23L-B / S4 70D-25-B) came with 84% and its DOM is april 2022. I think it could be the same scenario that yours

    • @DIYAutoworksNG
      @DIYAutoworksNG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting to see such low SOH on a battery manufactured in 2022. Not sure if its a Bosch thing, or that someone didn't give the battery enough juice before signing of. Are you speaking of SOH or SOC? If its SOH, I will rather return the battery if its still within the return window.

    • @DIYAutoworksNG

      @@DIYAutoworksNG In my car, alternator can output max 14.4v, so i guess that is correct voltage for normal PB battery.
      Also i saw that, EFB are compatible upgrade when you have a normal one. But AGM is not compatible, because different charge voltage. And if you still want a AGM, you should tune the regulator to give correct voltage for AGM, and you are good...
