I have changed my legal name so I ran the numbers on both sets of names. My "old" number definitely applied to me back in the day, but my new number shows my progression and is where I am comfortably sitting today. I know you're supposed to do this with your birth name, but I just don't see that as who I am anymore and have respectfully let it go

A: No. Changing your name doesn't change your Expression Number, because it's based on the name you were given at birth. However, your new name gives you a "minor expression number" which gives additional vibrations/energies for you navigate your path. You can do the calculation on both names to get your Expression Number, and also your Minor Expression Number. Q: What if I have "junior" or "the second" or "the third" at the end of my name. Do I include that part in the calculation too? A: My approach is to do the calculation based on exactly the letters that appear in the name on your birth certificate, so if your birth certificate has "junior", then I would include that too. Q: After doing the calculation, I got 10, or 12, or 13 etc. Why is there no Expression Number for that? A: Totals must be reduced to a single digit. The only exception to these are the master numbers 11, 22, and 33. This means 10 is reduced to 1+0, which is a 1 expression number. 12 is reduced to 1+2, which is a 3 expression number. And so on. Thanks for the comment Kishkashta! Your birth name is what's used for your expression number (also often called the destiny number), and this never changes. If you later change your name later on, it becomes a "minor expression number" which adds addition energies/vibrations. Sooooo many generic characteristics for each number, of course a person will identify with theirs. But, I’m playing anyway. My number is 4, which rings mostly true. But if I just take the number of my first name alone, it’s much more accurate. I’m a 3 instead of a 4 then. I’m a writer, artist, and mostly musician. My name in Hebrew meaning translates to He Will Cry Out (or He Will Sing Out in some translations) which I have the former tattooed across my chest. There is little to no musical background in my family, so I have no idea where my ear for music came from. Check if any of your individual names (first, middle, last) add up to the master numbers. That might provide further insight.

Which name is supposed to be used? I had the choice of three different last names. The one I chose happens to be an 11 (by itself). If I add up the birth certificate numbers it works out to a six. I am slightly confused because each addition fits. If a single name adds to eleven do you still add it to the other names? Please help clarify.

My middle name is an 11
My last name is a 6
For each of these I feel it's very accurate for me.

A few of the same questions keep coming up in the comments, so I will quickly address them here:
Q: What if I changed my name, does that change my expression number?
A: No. Changing your name doesn't change your Expression Number, because it's based on the name you were given at birth. However, your new name gives you a "minor expression number" which gives additional vibrations/energies for you navigate your path. You can do the calculation on both names to get your Expression Number, and also your Minor Expression Number.
Q: What if I have "junior" or "the second" or "the third" at the end of my name. Do I include that part in the calculation too?
A: My approach is to do the calculation based on exactly the letters that appear in the name on your birth certificate, so if your birth certificate has "junior", then I would include that too.
Q: After doing the calculation, I got 10, or 12, or 13 etc. Why is there no Expression Number for that?
A: Totals must be reduced to a single digit. The only exception to these are the master numbers 11, 22, and 33.
This means 10 is reduced to 1+0, which is a 1 expression number.
12 is reduced to 1+2, which is a 3 expression number.
And so on. I hope that helps!

Thanks for the comment Kishkashta! Your birth name is what's used for your expression number (also often called the destiny number), and this never changes. If you later change your name later on, it becomes a "minor expression number" which adds addition energies/vibrations. Sooooo many generic characteristics for each number, of course a person will identify with theirs. But, I’m playing anyway. My number is 4, which rings mostly true. But if I just take the number of my first name alone, it’s much more accurate. I’m a 3 instead of a 4 then. I’m a writer, artist, and mostly musician. My name in Hebrew meaning translates to He Will Cry Out (or He Will Sing Out in some translations) which I have the former tattooed across my chest. There is little to no musical background in my family, so I have no idea where my ear for music came from. I am super self-conscious and self-critical about my work, to the point where I basically write songs for myself. But somehow these songs and lyrics just keep coming and they don’t stop. As if my soul were literally Crying Out. Which it is.
So I think I’ll take both first name number and full name, because those two combined have me pretty much pegged.
