This track is from their album Noeasy, which is a play on the word noisy. I'm also new to SKZ as well (not a fan of kpop until I discover skz, became huge fan of them instantly as their style and discography suit my taste), I've known that they get a lot of unneccesary hate and has been critized for their noisy music or construction music as coined by those muggles. So basically this track and Cheese from the same album are like idgaf song to the haters.

It's also worth pointing out that there are several moments in Cheese lyrics where they "quote" other songs of theirs, such as the beginning where Felix says "Do you think DuDuDu is funny?" as a sign that people said that God's Menu is a nonsense song and that the lyrics had no meaning
They litterally made the song for people that call their music loud to make them get the h*ll out of here. That's why there are horns, Boom booms and Changbin at the beginning saying "so they call me the one that shout". They are also spiting on haters with the "ptui, ptui, ptui". This song is so creative ahah
8:01 Yes, unfortunately they get a lot of hate from other fandoms, the more popular they become, the more haight. They have a song CHEESE, which is dedicated to their haters. People just can't accept that skz are superior to their groups, success is always accompanied by envy. Also, people criticized and still criticize their music, calling it noisy. But as they say, everyone has their own, if you don't like it, don't listen. I don't like typical pop songs, so skz was a discovery for me, they are unique

Interestingly enough, it is not other groups but rather their fans. The Idols understands each other and what they go through therefore they support rather than tear down. Any fan who tears down others is toxic as far as I am concerned, Idols are not about that.

Actually because stray kids has a very loud and unique sound, many people hate on their music, which is why they make many songs that refer to their haters. I personally love this style of music though 🤭

So… yes? Back then, they were criticized for making noisy music. So here’s a bit of context. This song is the title track to an album called Noeasy (noisy). But rather than being “Thunderous” the Korean title is sorikkun which roughly means someone whose specialty is music (specifically pansori singers) but also a plan on the Korean word for naggers. When they say ‘I’m not sorry, I’m dirty’ sorry could mean sori aka noisy as well as sorry.
While a few of their title tracks and some few b-sides are about people who hate them or criticize them for whatever reason, there are so many more sides to them.
You’ve seen a lot of their songs that are directed outward, but here are some others you might wish to see: Hellevator, Mirror, My Pace, Voices, MIA, Chronosaurus, Levanter, Scars, Ex, Secret Secret, Silent Cry, #lovestay, Mixtape: Oh, Chill, Lonely St, etc etc etc.

They just got popular in Korea recently because people used to say they make noise music. People over there like their kpop soft and more poppy I guess, so they became popular internally faster. I'm glad they are actually getting more recognised now because they truly deserve it.

The different levels on their videos amaze me. Please go to just before the second verse(which has Hyunjin sitting in the chair with the book) and pause on Felix after he says "Keep on talking we don't play by the rules". Look at that paused scene of Felix. Then go frame by frame to the next scene of Hyunjin in the chair with the book open and pause. Now look at the picture in the book. Unless you just happen to pause at the right time, this little Easter Egg gets missed.

Which refers to god's menu bc it also got hate back then cheese has alot of word play and hidden meanings it's one of my favs but skz also have alot of ballad songs not just distracks that's why i love them so much they have so many genres in their music.

You are correct, they were getting a lot of homegrown (mostly Korean) hate. Naysayers complained that their music was "noisy" as others commented... the industrial sounds, car horns (!), and heavy hitting beats were not typical Kpop sounds. So, in this song admittedly "not playing by the rules," they include traditional Korean percussion... take that for some "noise"! 12:58

Theyre one of the most loved and hated kpop groups. Mainly loved but get more hate than most grohps bc the fans are jealous and threatened. Like its not even a lie or exaggeration. Its been like that since their debut bc they came out the gate amazing and won the more rookie awards in kpop history and revived a dead genre and then created their own genre

"Thunderous" is a diss track, a clapback at the haters who sneer at Stray Kids' so-called "noise music".
Thunderous", about shutting the haters and anti's down, because they don't need to be great. And that Suttle movement with the bent arms, are them Laughing at All of the Haters.
They're saying that they're going to keep experimenting and making the music they want to make, no matter what people say about them.
Now, all of this is actually a parallel to Stray Kids real life story. When they debuted they weren't that much successful. And during all their career they've been heavily criticized for the different sound they bring to kpop. They are just too different for society to like them. This didn't stop them, and after "God's Menu" they've managed to grow a lot, therefore transforming themselves in real life Sorikkun "Thunderous".

"THUNDEROUS" is part of the album NOIEASY which hides the word "NOISY" in its title NOIEASY is a truly incredible album where there are various genres of songs and these songs are not to be missed! the album is a bit like “it’s not easy and it’s very noisy”. So you had the question "Do they get a lot of hate" and I'm gonna answer it. The answer is yes. They do get a lot of hate for their music and the way they sound. The thing is that in Korea Stray Kids' type of music that they're normally producing is know as being too noisy. That's why they made this song. In this song they're making all kinds of noises to symbolize all the sounds everyone else keeps hating them for as if they're mocking these haters. Because Stray Kids don't care in the end. Like they said in the song they don't play by the rules. The part in the song where they're spitting at their hands, is symbolized as them spitting at their haters. As for the tittle of the song, in English it's called Thunderous but it really doesn't do the song justice unless you take a deeper look into the Korean name of the song. I don't have the Korean letters on my laptop set up other wise I'd be using the Korean letters but its basically pronounced So- Ri - Kkun. This name is genius because well as Stray Kids normally love to do, the name has multiple meanings. Sorikkun can either mean a pro singer, or a singer that sings folk songs, or it can be short for Jan-sori-kkun which means a nagger or a noisemaker, and lastly if you break up the word to Sori and then Kkun, Sori means sound and kkun means thief so basically, they're the thieves of sound. Anyone please feel free to add anything or correct me in anything that I said because I'm not a professional when it comes to the Korean language. Everything that I wrote is just stuff that I looked up and things I heard when I first heard the song. I'm only literally still at a beginner level with my Korean, so I apologize for any mistakes I might have made, ahead of time.

@@sosorammi I just googled People's Choice Awards voting and clicked on their page. It brings you straight to the voting. You can vote for all the categories or just for Stray Kids. They are under Group/Duo.
Unfortunately they've received a LOT of hate throughout their career. Think about it: most kpop bands are chosen for debuting bands by higher-ups & company experts through evals. But them? The bosses had this whackadoodle idea: they went up to a 19 year old kid and said "okay, this is on your shoulders, make a band, go nuts." Bang Chan was the one attending auditions and monthly evals and carefully comparing/critiquing/choosing. And from day 1, even before debut, they were pretty much given free reign with their songs-- they were allowed to conceive, write, and compose whatever the hell they wanted (with some input on some songs by company producers). And you know what? People absolutely hated it. They were like "what the actual F*CK is THIS nonsense? It sounds like they're recording on a construction site. This isn't Kpop. This isn't even music." Other insulting descriptions by "Kpop purists" online were "it sounds like they're just banging pots & pans together" and "they sound like they got a bunch of instruments together and just played and banged them at random." (And so the God's Menu video was born.) Their title tracks weren't formulaic poppy pop. Theirs were such a mixture of sooo many different genres-- often in the same damn song. They were heavy on the hard rock and rap, and experimental about other aspects-- for example, they were the first Kpop band to release an EDM-based song (Side Effects). And their B-sides? The genres were all over the place. More hard rock/heavy rap, often in the same song. Also some fun pop, ballads showcasing vocals, songs written for animes, dance tracks. They currently have songs in just under 50 genres and subgenres.
They finally started breaking out with God's Menu, but they still get a LOT of criticism for their experimentality and unwillingness to compromise their ideas to fit someone else's formula. I remember seeing comments on their S-class VMA performance like "How do people like this? It's so messy and all over the place." Um, you know what? I LIKE THAT. And besides, their B-sides have such a wide variety of songs, there should be something in their discography for everyone, if they gave them a chance 🙂
