More specifically, tiberium is a terraforming substance. Alien race created it to make world's viable for themselves.
Edit: hope they remaster Yuri revenge

As I recall from the controls - X scatters units, alt is force move (squish!) ctrl is force fire (aim arty near targets), G is guard. It was Humvee in TB, and Ranger in Red Alert

remember the two rules of C&C dont attack the refinery truck unless you want every enemy on the map to attack you and when in doubt sandbag trick can win the battle

I grew up playing this game. Eventually going to have to buy it again. One game I want remade but probably will never be is Lord's of the realm 2. The rights to it was owned by Sierra that I don't think exist anymore.

Apparently, no chance for Dune games- license expired, actual owner straight up answered the question with- RIP games
Should probably mention that this is to the point where no one can even sell the existing games.

What a blast from the past, I used to be a BIG TIME CnC fan during the 90s as well. But my missions usually ended prematurely due relentless assaults with seemingly infinite resources from the NPC. I couldn't built anything to defend as quickly and regularly as they came, even on easy. Somehow managed to get through everything till Red Alert 2/Tiberian Sun/Generals (and add-ons whatever of it was the newest) though in some cases I had to edit some ini files to be able to build normally inaccessible units like the classic Mammoth Tank in Tiberian Sun or to give me some extra money during missions to keep up.
Still have to finish the Nod/Skree campaign in Tiberium Wars though I just scarcely made it through the GDI-Missions... Though a significant reason for me to be THAT bad might lie in my tendency to turtle myself in.

    This is pure nostalgia.
If you're going down memory lane, you should try Dune 2. The mother of all RTS'

3D in games usually didn't age well. Pre-rendered 3D (like for some buildings here) is still better than realtime 3D, but hand-painted graphics usually age pretty well. As for the differences in gameplay... some age better, some worse. Some people might even find some old games to be superior to newer games :)
As for the humvees, they were called humvees and they're very obviously humvees. But there's been a few lawsuits about humvees being called humvees in games, so EA is probably playing it safe. They equivalent unit in Red Alert was the Ranger IIRC.
You could definitely space buildings out in the original CnC - you can even see it on the AI bases, the buildings are built one tile apart (as you should be able to). It might be they removed it for the remaster to make turret creeping a bit more difficult, and perhaps avoid some progression skipping or something. In the end, it doesn't make much of a difference.

oh C&C loved doing the Engineer Rush tactic just load up APC's with Engineers break through into enemy GDI/NOD bases and taking control of their resources 😋

Hey Wander. If you like live action cutscenes, maybe you could check out Roundabout. I saw a GDQ speedrun a few years ago, and apparently it's the only speedrun that doesn't skip cutscenes because they're just so damn good :)

  • @razorsrequiem

I played Red Alert before the original as well, Wander. Man this takes me back. This and Starcraft were my RTS jams.
Is the game you were thinking of C&C Generals?

  • @sillywarlock4657

In Submarine Titans you can cap enemy buildings to be able to, for limited time, research into their tech tree, you would keep all researched tech throughout the campaign. For some reason this only applies to 2 of 3 factions XD

    • @LuaanTi
      @LuaanTi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

The third faction is actual aliens, so there's that. It's not a stretch to imagine the two human factions stealing tech from each other, but the Silicons do pretty much everything differently, and don't have a common technological base with the humans.

This remaster is SO GOOD, it's insane how EA allowed it to happen :D
But it did, thanks I think to like one main EA guy Jim Vessella(?), and of course Petroglyph, former Westwood devs.
No Origin DRM, no microtransactions, no carved out content, on steam, a polished launch, some minor issues that had a big impressive update a week later.
And check the workshop! The CFE patch for example adds a lot of QoL stuff, rallypoints, some AI tweaks, building distance tweaks, some wallbuilding stuff imported from RA2.
Also hoping for Tiberian Sun + Expansion to get a remaster (& RA2 of course), TibSun had such neat stuff to it; the dynamic chaotic environment, with tiberium growing infinitely and being able to cover the entire map if left unchecked, the orange dangerous vein growths, the mutated wildlife that could be hostile, mutants in general, the poison clouds that turned humans into these horrific blobs that wandered the map like zombies turning every human they came across into another one of this deadly viscera.
Throw in the dynamic terrain altering with craters, the meteor and ion storms, the spreading fires, not to mention the insane new scifi units, just so awesome.

The remastered games as an idea is not a bad thing. The problem is how Acti-Blizzard has gone about doing it. Acti-Blizzard can rot in hell. They are a festering cancer to the gaming industry.
