Hi Susie, I have a question. For technical requirement, how many scales + exercises in total do we have to perform for Trinity Grade 3 exam - "Piano" - 2021? There are 10 scales + 6 exercises in the book. Do we have to perform all 16 Units. I'd go through the syllabus but I'm still confused! An early reply will be highly appreciated. Thank you :)
Hi Abhijit, thanks for your comment. If you do a live exam ie in a room with an examiner, then you prepare 3 exercises (either 1a or 1b, 2a or 2b, 3a or 3b) and the whole scales list. If you enter for a digital exam then you only prepare 2 exercises and half of the scales list - there is a document which clarifies Set A and Set B scales and you choose which you prepare. Well in this part of the world we are still in the middle of pandemic hence I thought going the digital way would be safer. I am not too sure if the digital exam holds the same recognition as the face to face / live exam? Any suggestions there?
@@abhijitc1526 Hi again Abhijit, I would say that the same recognition is given to both. The digital option is very popular in the UK now, even though live exams can take place again. The same standard is required of course and it is certainly not an easy option to record a continuous video of the whole exam.
Thank you for clearing my doubts. Yes, it certainly gets cumbersome to record the entire exam in one go but going the digital way is a better option to be on the safe side as the third wave is almost here! I am camera concious... hence recording the entire exam is going to be a huge challenge for me. I tried a demo yesterday & realised I was just not myself & goofed up many times. Without the camera I can concentrate better. Well, I am working on it... any suggestions? 😊
@@abhijitc1526 I would say to just have many goes at it, it does get less of an issue to be 'camera conscious' the more you do it. It can take many weeks to get what you want, but that just gives you more practice! It is about improving your concentration, stamina and my best advice is to just be musical - let the music carry you and take all your thoughts, so try and "think" the tune, not think thoughts like " I must go loud now, or oh dear that didn't go well" just stay in the music. I have found that dynamics are not always obvious to the examiner through the phone, so also exaggerate these. Use the left pedal to make your ps more effective and have wide range from soft to loud. Good luck!!
