“Stuff is not a gift if the person can’t use it. Unloading your stuff onto someone who doesn’t want it is not kindness.” OMG, Jen, that part. You’ve said so many insightful things over the years, but I think this will stay with me the most.
Yeah, they basically just gave you an errand lol. I feel like Sheldon Cooper when I say that sometimes because he doesn't want to accept a Christmas gift from Penny but he has a point. If you can't use the stuff then you have to find something to do with it urself. I'm not gonna throw it in the trash so I have to do something with it and it's just another chore to get done. IDK.
Also what makes her think this employee would use ALL that makeup? She’s just putting the employee in the exact same position she’s in, trying to pawn things off on others.
I dunno. I think offering to give something to someone that you can’t use is kindness if you think they can possibly use it but definitely not pushing on them. Sometimes I’ll give something to someone if they’ve commented they love it and I’m just not into it.
@@calathea81 I think she even told her to pass it on - so it wasn't even a gift to her personally. She just got in the line of fire. Here, take my shtuff and impose it on others.
I'm always suspicious of people who do 'good deeds' on camera. Nothing but a vanity project. Maybe an anonymous donation to a women's shelter or homeless charity?
I tried that, even with things like shower gels - if it's opened, they don't take it. I volunteer at Hope not Handcuffs, they accept some things for their boxes. But does she not have nieces/nephews/kid's kids that she just could give it to?
Donations to charities have similar rules in that they won't accept open liquid products but they will take powder products. What also rubbed me the wrong way was her assuming that corporate would make an exception *for her* because she's BF.
Elaine was trying not to waste it . People will rip anyone a part. Maybe she didn't need to record it but for people to judge , and people judge everything. I'd rather see someone share then through it away. Which is all she had to do and maybe she should've. Damned if you do fanned if you don't
I mean…. In one situation she was trying to force products on a person that repeatedly said she couldn’t take them. In another, homeless people wanted different food. I guess the commonality is the idea of “you peasants!! You are going to take what I’ve decided you want and you are gonna LIKE it!! 😤”
She wouldn't buy the brand because then she'd have to admit she was never the brand owner in the first place, even though most people know she doesn't own it she's got to keep her lie going 😅
AND she would actually have to WORK!! Something she is NOT familiar with. She wants to get paid to just EXIST & have $$$, adoration, recognition/celebrity status for just having her picture on something. She has scammed & made $$$ for years doing LESS than the bare minimum and just collecting checks. Her "little girl dream" isn't her working for her "brand", it is just to get attention & be recognized for the work OTHER people have done & her taking the credit.
You don’t even need to be an influencer who receives PR to have a problem with what to do with the over abundant amount/excess of makeup (or any other stuff) one purchases; it is a terrible problem in our over-consuming society period. It seems in her mind BF was trying to do something nice, but it was condescending, insulting, and tone deaf on a hundred different levels. She should have checked with TJ Max before doing it. The second the clerk expressed discomfort, she should have stopped pushing the stuff on her. And it never should have been filmed; this makes it feel like a self-serving publicity grab rather than an act of kindness.
Exactly. If it was truly selfless, then why did you film it? She could have just said that she gives her unused makeup to random stores that she shops at. She wanted to make it a whole production. It was tone deaf.
There’s a reason why women’s shelters only accept brand new, unopened cosmetics. Also, while it may be okay to give previously opened/gently used products to friends and family, I think it’s really tacky to foist those products on strangers, especially those that you think “can’t afford that level of makeup.” 🙄
Heck, TJ occasionally gets very high end stuff. These employees can keep an eye out and grab it if they even want it (high end ain't always that good anyway).
My super rich aunt who I love sends me her old clothes, makeup and lingerie and she ASKED ME if it was weird or if she could send them. She asked me and she’s my family!!! She needed to ask
While I think Bethany is trying to do something nice, I can see exactly why the employee is freaking out. I work for a retail company and we can't take any money/gifts, which I think the exception might be edible gifts. If you're depending on your job, you're not gonna risk it for something so little.
Yes, I agree. I tired of ripping people apart for such small stuff. Yet, here we are. So many people don't understand when others just can't buy extra stuff and they don't even try to help others. Regardless if she was wanting to just unload it, guess what , the trash works
The Bethany Frankel thing is irritating. She wants a pat on the back for trying to give makeup to store employees she just "assumes" wouldn't be able to afford it based on where they work, how they look, etc. If she truly wanted to just do a good act, not just for cameras, she could take it and donate to a shelter or organization which helps women get jobs.
the best part is that when someone commented asking how Bethenny knew the employee couldn't afford the makeup herself, she replied, "Because she works at TJ Maxx." LOLOLOLOL
Please take into consideration and do a little research on what she did for COVID-19.!!!! I am a fellow neighbor of Bethany about 25 minutes away Long Island we grew up similar but she’s super successful and I came from a trailer park, by no means did she mean it in any other manner than just simply what it was!- giving somewhat items she would otherwise be throwing in the garbage. Should it have been used for content that’s where I will say since people read so far into things, and how much they reach it would’ve been in her best interest to do it without a camera! However, people being racist calling her a white savior that’s hypocritical. That’s a racist term also circle back to what she did for all the people during COVID-19 anyone she could help!! @jenluvreviews @jenluv I love Jenn she’s great I know she’s just covering stories. However, this is a small blip and the things up at Bethany does as far as philanthropy work She actually does true philanthropy work see when she’s writing checks nobody says anything but when she’s giving away PR or products that you can decide to use or not to use just because they were opened and possibly swat for a video for Work purposes, then it’s oh my God because she made a comment saying more than likely these are items they would not be able to typically afford and I’m sure that that sentence came from a place of being told from these people. Wow you’re buying such beautiful things, putting together the fact that they’re on minimum wage salary just food for thought.!
Agree. I follow her philanthropy work and she is an incredible force that helps those that need it the most at the most crucial times. Of course, she can’t be everywhere at the same but she gets more done with much less money than other big charitable organizations.
I own a very small self-care/beauty brand and I do EVERYTHING from conceptualizing to formulating to packaging testing, marketing, content creation… you name it. To know that someone I (MANY years ago) used to look up to not only uses other women as stepping stones but also touted herself as the quintessential boss babe while doing basically nothing is maddening.
Bethany's situation reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine opened a muffin bakery that only sold muffin tops and she tried to get rid of the muffin "stumps" to the homeless and got people protesting and shut her store down. That said, there were better options for donating makeup than doing it the way she did and on camera.
….does it though? Because Bethany forcing her unwanted products on an employee, putting her job at risk, and blatantly ignoring the employees desires and discomfort sounds pretty different from homeless people wanting different food…. I guess the only overlap is the attitude of “you peasants! You take what I give you and like it!!”
@@make.upexperiments7269Actually, I've read a few comments that said the exact same thing. They said it reminded them of that episode. So I guess a few people think the same way about this.
Ignoring the "brand new" claim, which isnt true, I have two other issues: Why did she need attention for giving away makeup? And, as a former retail worker, we genuinely CAN lose our jobs for accepting any kind of freebie from anyone? (Which you touched on)
Jaclyn won't buy her brand for a couple of reasons - one being that she would have to acknowledge that she didn't actually own it (as pointed out by quite a few comments). The second is that she would need to fix the lost goodwill towards her brand - and there is plenty. It would be very hard for her to recoup that lost goodwill when she seems to come across as lazy when it comes to Jaclyn Cosmetics. Bethany Frankel is an example of how out of touch celebs are. Was she trying to do a good thing? Yes - but went about it completely the wrong way. I feel bad for that poor employee - she definitely looked uncomfortable. Celebs need to stop doing "altruistic" things for clout especially on camera. It was a good thing she did, trying not to waste large amounts of product, but she should have approached management and the employee in private - and definitely not included any opened liquid products. A better take for Bethany? Donate it to a women's shelter without filming it. For GOOP, i have absolutely no interest in giving out of touch Gwennie my money.
I have been seeing Jaclyn Cosmetics in TJ Maxx and Marshall’s for at least a year now but I was in TJ Maxx yesterday and there was TONS of Jaclyn Cosmetics. Like TONS.
Same. I was at TJ Maxx in Johnstown NY yesterday and it was all Jaclyn Cosmetics. They also had a lot of Violet Voss eyeshadow palettes. I bought a Flower Beauty blush and pressed powder.
I think I've only seen 2 Jaclyn lipsticks in my Marshalls. We don't get the best stuff in some parts of Kentucky it seems. We have to dig through a lot of crap to find a gem every now and again. Wish we had a TJ Max in my town. I wouldn't care to buy some Jaclyn stuff . . . at a deeply discounted price of course.
When she said “Bethany is burdening Consuelo with her crap” I burst out laughing. Omg, I was actually laughing my ass off. Thank you for giving me such a good laugh.
Bethany, just donate your goods…don’t publicize your good deeds. The Goop thing, sounds like Jones Road? Great reporting Jen! You are so talented and appreciated. ❤❤❤❤
I think things she needs to remember is having your actions corrected is not canceling you. And that employee was terrified and honestly the outrage from the public and how terrified she looked is probably what saved her job.
I think Bethany was VERY inconsiderate!!!! I work for that company and i own tons of PT, PML and ND. She is looking down on the associates by doing that and sayin they camt afford to buy it. And then to bring them stuff that she opened and had her paws all over as if " owe they wont care, they cant afford it" 🤬🤬🤬 just plan rude!!!!
Right?!? She is so out of touch with reality. She mentions that the cashiers say that they wish that they could afford to get whatever she is buying, but that doesn’t mean that they are so desperate that they want her cast offs. Maybe they are doing just fine but can’t splurge on everything they want, they could buy it but they know that they don’t need it and meant that they wish they had extra disposable income to buy stuff they don’t need but like.
One of the best thing my parents taught me is to do kind things in private. You do kind things to help people and you never take photos or videos, you help and leave it at that. No one needs to know, you know you helped
Let me assure you about Gwen Paltrow, she is kind of celebrity that talks about herself in third person. Let me remind you that she had a "conscious uncoupling", said that she would rather "smoke crack than eat cheese from a tin", and claimed that "being an actress and a mother is way harder than having a 'regular job' and being a parent." I mean, I champion everyone a little to live your life with one toe in of being delusional, but THAT woman puts her whole legs in that pool. 🙄🙄 And I GUARANTEE you that she isn't paying attention to ANYONE or ANYTHING outside her little Goop bubble. I''d bet money on it! 🤣🤣
The Bethany Frankel thing is infuriating, because she’s ignorant. I never had so much beauty and skincare as when I worked in retail. You have the discount hookup when you’re in that job. Unloading more stuff on someone isn’t a gift. It’s a PR stunt which failed
I am so turned off about the whole Bethany Frankel situation. I'll never follow her. She didn't even BOTHER TO ASK if she WANTED it first!! ENTITLEMENT is SEEPING THROUGH HER PORES! I agree wholeheartedly with your opinion on thr situation Jen!
Is it just me or has there been almost no “Halloween” launches this year? Spooky stuff is my favourite and hard to come by the rest of the year so I look forward to potentially buying some new makeup stuff.
Ohh Jen, the body scrub mitts I’d recommend is rituals or sunkissed, which is tanning brand, it’s great for prepping before tan and as a ghost I need tan 👻 they take everything…EVERYTHING off! Feels gross seeing it work but after you feel brand new!
When hearing about a Goop makeup launch we were all worried about makeup up products being made to smell like Gwyneth's... downstairs. And nobody wants that.
Thanks for the heads up about Auric being at Beautylish! I was able to snag a travel sized Morganite (and threw one more thing in my cart for free shipping). Been wanting to try the brand but shipping costs stopped me!
Women's shelters don't accept makeup nowadays. I tried to donate and they told me to give to a thrift store and that they give the women vouchers. In the meantime, others can buy it from that store!!! I called a lot of shelters and that's what they do nowadays...
About the green law in the EU: I saw a TikTok a few years ago it was mom in the US talking about a sheet set she bought for her newborn. She bought the set from target and the packaging said chemical free and I think it was the bamboo sheets. When she put them on her baby’s bed it reaked of chemicals. Ik she called target to try and get them to change the packaging (it was the target home brand) because obviously it wasn’t chemical free. I don’t remember how it ended tho. This is why I think the US needs that law.
The Frankel controversy is SO frustrating. “Oh, you’re repeatedly telling me this isn’t allowed? I’ve decided it’s allowed and I’ll dm someone so now it’s fine because I’ve said so.” And then to go onnnn and onnnn about what a martyr she is!!!! 🤮🤮🤮🤮
It angers me to no end that Jaclyn Hill made efforts to squash a small brand who was going by Koze first so that brand was forced to shut down, only for Jaclyn to end up shutting down her own Koze brand. *edited for clarity.
Makeup news is such an amazing focus area for journalism, and there are so many important things going on in this space… i really appreciate ur interest in reporting on this topic, i love watching u week to week. Thank u.
Bethany Frankel cannot understand what she's done wrong because of the position of privilege she has in relation to Consuela, and I say this FULLY aware that I share a similarly privileged position in relation to many people I interact with---not in terms of wealth or celebrity, as Ms. Frankel has, but as it relates to level of education, assets, financial freedom, personal-relationship-employment stability, political/social representation and power, housing security, and a million other advantages many others don't have. She was wrong in assuming Consuela would want ANY gifts from her, NEW or USED, and even more wrong in FILMING and BROADCASTING the interaction. Charity that is not welcomed is not charity, is just another obtrusion from a person with more power onto a person with less, and it's a violation of that person's dignity.
@msdouglas12100 Thank you, I'll fix it above, but I'm sad to see she's adopted the English corruption of the name. It should be Consuelo, like Remedios, Caridad, Resignacion, and Dolores.
@msdouglas12100 My pleasure. Many of those names come from those given to the Virgin Mary. "Consuelo" is consolation, or solace, "Virgen del Consuelo" would be a title similar to "Virgin of Mercy", "Lady of Providence", and "Virgin of Perpetual Help".
I work retail and point blank period we are eligible for termination for accepting gifts/gratuities. Some well meaning people can be very insistant which makes it tricky for less assertive people, younger workers or anyone who may be struggling. The few times explaining policy did not work, I've gone directly to a manager to make them watch me make a CMN/food drive cash donation. Bethenny is a low key abrasive/brash personality so her approach is on brand in this instance and her awkward lack of awareness of how this is perceived by the public isn't surprising.
I work in the food industry mainly selling product to grocery stores, the concept of HPP is pretty common, for example in pre sliced deli meat this process helps improve shelf life of product. Very interesting to see this term being used in the beauty industry!!!
Last year Ulta launched a piñata Golden half moon for their Christmas products, filled with great minis. If I remember correctly there were more than ten items. I bought it on sale late spring for about $3..50. What a good deal! I bought four of them during the sale! My granddaughter and daughter loved them!🥰
I think bethenny is turning into that sad lonely patron that has too much time and money, and not enough real friends. The ones who develop that parasocial attachment to service workers 😬😬😬
My ex mother in law is like the example you used. She has a shopping addiction and when i was married to her son, she would just give me clothes. Sometimes it was very needed, we were really poor. Other times i didn't want the clothes. I was 19-22 at the time and she was in her fifties and not a trendy 50.
38 mins in, Listerine & halitosis! I, too, love marketing & history & Listerine is the best example of a company creating an issue that only they have the solution to. In their marketing in the 1920s they made everyone think that their breath stunk & only using Listerine could save them from the horrors of halitosis, which was just old Latin for "bad breath" & Listerine made into the medical condition it's now seen as. Quite a pivot for Listerine from floor cleaner to mouthwash.
Girl! Get the Kami mit!!! It’s the scrubbing your whole body with a Brillo pad but in a non irritating way. I’ve never been smoother. Great for preventing ingrowns!
41:25 ive used the dermasuri exfoliating body glove from target and it works crazy well. Its similar to Korean italy towels where, if youve soaked in the bath/under the shower long enough, you can literally get the skin to visibly exfolliate off. Im always itchy from allergies and i have KP so its worked wonders.
African Americans have been using vaseline since th 1900's. When people say black dont crack its really the vasline keeping us moist lol. I'm glad they are doing this. I've always the the cocoa butter was great for my skin but im glad to have even more options at affordable prices.
Endorsing or being the name/face of a brand is not owning a company……Jaclyn has no clue what it takes to “own” and manage a business….. Bethany wants recognition for everything she does…..she will do anything for views…….giving opened products to other than friends or family is wrong in so many levels…..and to video the act of giving the items to an employee DURING WORK HOURS was wrong in so many levels……Always appreciate your videos…❤️❤️❤️
I'm in Texas and we have grocery stores called HEB, I just learned yesterday they now carry Moira cosmetics, Pacifica, Makeup Revolution and one or 2 other "indie" bands that I can't remember the name of, but I was SUPER excited to see Moira cosmetics since I've heard really good things, I'm going to try some of their liquid shadows, they look so pretty!
I work for a large healthcare system and people bring gifts to the wards sometimes and lots of times we have to decline. If it’s something like cookies or flowers, we can take that but if it’s gift card or money, we have to decline. Same with vendor visits, we can take their pens or branded things but they are not allowed to give us gift card or anything that is worth over $20 (fancy meals included) due to anti kickback laws. I really emphasize with the lady at TJ Maxx because it’s so uncomfortable to tell people we’re not allowed to take some things. I appreciate that they’re grateful, but none of us are willing to put our jobs at risk for a $10 Starbucks gift card.
As someone who is actively decluttering my home, I can definitely attest to stuff being a burden and that it is not fair to burden others with your excess unless they both want and need it. My motto is clutterfree in 2023!
I saw Kevin J Bennett talked about Jaclyn Hill and her "family own" business 3/4 days ago on his Instagram. She's talked ALL this 💩💩for all these yrs & it's FINALLY catching up with her. Personally..... I 💯% believe him & don't think someone of his caliber would lie (like JH has ALWAYS done) and then talk publicly about it. I think Bethenny was TRYING to do a good thing.... But didn't take into consideration how the internet would view it. She shouldn't flimed it.. Just kept it between her,her daughter & the employees.
Regarding shelf life, I think people may miss the part of when that item was made. If it sat on a shelf at the lab for a month then I purchase it, according to shelf life it only has 8 months of effectiveness left in it. Shelf life starts before the item is purchased. PAO starts when we open it. So, my question would be, is that brand stating on the package when it was made, so we can calculate the correct shelf life end date 🤔
About the HPPY (ugh what is it with brands not using vowels) products, not using preservatives is fine if it's a powder or oil based product. So a powder foundation or a lip balm made with oils, waxes and butters would be fine without preservatives. Those products would be fine 1-2 years after opening, then you'd need to throw them away. Once you add water or things like vegetables and fruits, you need to add preservatives. Mould/bacteria needs water to grow. Usually, face masks without preservatives only last about a week or so. I wouldn't buy these because I don't know when it was made or what sort of conditions it's been kept in.
Yesssss! As soon as she opened the liquid makeup and said she was giving it, I cringed! Also she came across as snooty to me?! I get she was “trying” to be kind but it backfired a bit.
Say what you will about Jaclyn as a person, but I've been finding Jaclyn Cosmetic products at TJ Maxx and I have to say, their products are VERY VERY good. I first tried the blush, then went back the lipsticks, then went back AGAIN for the powders and highlighters. I'm not crazy for the eyeshadow, but face products are BOMB!!
I never bought a jh product in my life... still love watching you talk about her. Go figure. Btw, its just cents. As in 1 Euro and 50 cents. Same as with $.
For how to say the euro currency: it’s just cents like with dollars so you don’t have to say euro-cents 😊 so it would be like 8 euro and 20 cents for example
I’m so happy you are talking about Bethany Frankel’s behavior. Why would she do this ‘act of kindness’ on camera?! If she wasn’t on camera, it would be nicer. And, Jen, of course asking first. I’ve NEVER cared for the way Bethany acts. She speaks like the World should bow down to her. Like TJ Maxx will bow down to her because of who she is. Get out of here! On a happy note, I bought Angie’s collab, immediately! She nailed it. Why did Lethal leave so much space open on the palette? It drives me crazy! Lol (1st World problems, right?)
Cocoa butter lotion and Vaseline are staples in most Black homes in America, so it is nice to see the company create something specifically with their skin in mind. Cocoa butter, shea butter, and niacinamide make my partner’s skin glow so I’m interested to see what he thinks of the new line.
I don't know what goes on behind the scenes, but to me, Jaclyn Hill seems lazy. She wants to make a ton of money for doing nothing. Now that her deal with Forma is dead, she knows she will have to work to keep her brand going. I've seen enough of her videos to form this opinion. She always seems to just want to play and have fun. She plays with makeup, decorates her house, goes to stores to meet fans, hangs out with friends, etc. I never see her do any work. She seems spoiled. Now she's getting a dose of reality and she doesn't like it. Also, you mentioned she filmed that video around 2 months ago, correct? In the video, she mentioned how much she missed making makeup videos. How many has she made since then? One, two? Nothing is stopping her from doing it.
GM Jen!! Watching from my Airbnb before I head home to Nashville. Told my husband we have to wait, I have a routine :) Hope you have a great week and thanks for being my favorite on YT.
Reading your comment just gave me a bit of "home sickness" thinking of Nashville/TN;; but def made me smile thinking of ppl & memories so thank u for tht🤗😊 Hope you have a safe trip home & a wonderful week ahead!!!!
I met Sam when we first opened Bloomingdales in Glendale. Lots of influencers came to see the Illamasqua counter and i was so excited to see her. She gave me her business card and i still have it :) Bat a lash Sam awwww :) congrats Auric
Seeing all these fun kits and speaking about teens and tweens got me thinking…I would LOVE to see a video about the brands you would suggest for teens/tweens that are the cleanest ingredient wise! My daughter wants to start trying makeup and I don’t know where to begin!
As a makeup lover who uses pay-in-4 just to be able to get beautiful makeup in my hands, I’m always astounded at all the free PR people get just to not want it. I totally understand if it’s not the right colors etc; still… I guess I’m just jealous. 😂
In my area they only take unopened products. Stress-shopping for makeup and skincare is my worst habit, so I end up with a lot of swatched but otherwise unused stuff. One of my friends is a teacher and she takes my overflow and gives it to the other teachers.
Edit- this nested in a weird spot, sorry! I think people who think “preservatives = bad” need to think about it more. The fact that we don’t have to grocery shop daily and that the cost of food is low, relatively is the ability to extend the shelf life of food. In 1900 the average was 40%. Today it’s 15%. It’s also one of the drivers of women moving out of staying home or working as domestic servants and the reduction in child labor. I’m certainly not saying we could do better. It’s great that bread lasts more than 3 days but does it need to last a month? However I am saying that it does benefit us and it’s a more nuanced issue than we treat it.
Trying not to give Gwyneth any of my energy, but my brain isn’t having it. It must rant out loud about the ridiculousness to my boyfriend for 15 min before it can move on.
Your makeup look doesn't look too neutral! I think you handled the Jaclyn stuff with a lot of tact! You've tempted me to get that nyx holiday palette!!!
She should have asked first then brought it in. I do this all the time with toys. I love buying miniature stuff and sometimes I get doubles so I find a little girl and asked there parent if they could have it
“I like preservatives!” Me too Jen! I like my skincare to stay good outside of the refrigerator, and I also like my applesauce to stay good in the pantry longer than the apples in my fridge. People/companies and their fear mongering of anything that isn’t “natural” are seriously getting on my nerves.
I saw a lot of Jaclyn cosmetics at tj max and for super cheap. I got a lot and loved all of them but I can’t bring myself to pay full price for her stuff. If she does go out or business I will definitely buy quite a bit at a discounted price
If you want awesome exfoliation get an Italy cloth, they’re Korean and amazing. I have an issue where my skin holds on to my dead cells and gets really congested, my dr has sent me for uv sessions before but this cloth, omg it’s amazing! They come in packs of 3,4!y etc and the square ones are best. They do shrink a little when wet but stretch into place well. If you can get someone to help rub your back with it it’s so freaking good!
I immediately saw the flip bw the green & pink shimmer! My 1st thought was, hmm wonder what duo chrome shadow she used to create that eye look?! To my surprise YOU created ur own duo chrome shade shifting shadow & it turned out beautifully💚✨️💖
I get it about your dream not being what you think it’s going to be. My little girl dream was to be an actress. My senior year book even mentions that I am going to win an Academy Award before I am 30. 😂 After doing several commercials and extra roles on a local television show (Nothern Exposure) after I had graduated from college, I quickly realized that I wasn’t cut out for the acting career of my dreams. Even though they were local small time commercials I still felt like the industry was sleazy. I was being offered tickets to a concert that I wanted to attend rather than payment for my time on the first commercial. My agent thankfully stepped in. Nothing was sleazy about Northern Exposure, the cast and crew were all really nice but I hated the hurry up and wait all day. I had a full time job that allowed me to travel the world and I decided that was what I was happiest doing until I got married. So I get Jacklyn in that area, but I don’t understand why she’s had to lie about so many things in her career. I’ve never followed her or purchased any of her products. I never will. Re: Bethany Frankel. Woke? 🤬 Really, rude and inconsiderate yes. She should never have filmed someone without their consent and she was making some very major assumptions about Consuela.
Why did Bethenny film herself giving the products away? Because it was all about her. The arrogance is astounding. Why didn’t she give the unused (really unused) items to a women’s shelter without filming it? THAT would have been a nice thing to do. Her response speaks volumes too.
I used to work for TJMaxx and they told us we would be fired if we received any gifts or tips. Consuela is right. I don't think Bethenny is a bad person, just a well intentioned out of touch one. She was probably not trying to make the worker uncomfortable but it was just an awkward mistake. Saying things like "it's expensive stuff" came off a bit wrong as well as the "I'll talk to corporate." She wanted to bless someone and didn't see the full picture.
Yep… meaning we’ll. When she was poor she would have loved this makeup that SHE could have never been able to afford! That’s her story. She likes these gals. The corporate comment should not have been mentioned. Who screws with corporate.. she meant well period. That’s her thing doing stuff with people.. places.. and things. That’s it! ❤
Jen, please cover Drew Barrymore decision regarding resuming production on her show amidst the writers strike and her subsequent reversal. As a brand owner and the face of Flower Beauty, I feel so conflicted about this whole thing. I have been a stan for Berrymore my entire life. We are the same age; we grew up together. You, too! So far I've only come across ONE (Maggie Meyers) person in the Beauty Community who has taken on this topic. We talk about brand owners behaving badly all the time. This story definitely deserves some attention. No one does a deep dive like you. Please shine your light on this one. ❤❤❤
I love your videos. I'm a makeup junkie, and to complicate things, I now get my hair cut and colored at Ulta and there is 25 minutes of walking around the store while my hair processes, and I always buy "something." Last time I was at Ulta, I used over $250 in Ulta points to pay for my hair and purchases...but have to remind myself that to have $250 in points, I must have spent A LOT.
“Stuff is not a gift if the person can’t use it. Unloading your stuff onto someone who doesn’t want it is not kindness.” OMG, Jen, that part. You’ve said so many insightful things over the years, but I think this will stay with me the most.
...that's decluttering at someone's cost, more like
Yeah, they basically just gave you an errand lol.
That would be the truly charitable act to do.
BF is not altruistic!
The rocks good dead for his theft of a candy bar yrs ago was so bogus.
The Bethenny Frankel story reminds me of when Elaine from Seinfeld, tried to donate her muffin stumps to the homeless shelter.
LOL
😂😂😂
Elaine was trying not to waste it . People will rip anyone a part. Maybe she didn't need to record it but for people to judge , and people judge everything. I'd rather see someone share then through it away. Which is all she had to do and maybe she should've. Damned if you do fanned if you don't
I mean…. In one situation she was trying to force products on a person that repeatedly said she couldn’t take them. In another, homeless people wanted different food. I guess the commonality is the idea of “you peasants!! You are going to take what I’ve decided you want and you are gonna LIKE it!! 😤”
😂😂😂
She wouldn't buy the brand because then she'd have to admit she was never the brand owner in the first place, even though most people know she doesn't own it she's got to keep her lie going 😅
Plus I don't think she has the money to back it. Yes she has a lot of money but not enough to sustain the business financially.
THIS 🔝 ANDDD she'd actually have to do work.🤣🤣
Her net worth in Birkin bags can't buy products and pay staff.
@@chandasue101 Exactly. She does not have the money to buy it. Lots of people live lavish lifestyles by being in debt up to their eyeballs.
I never understood why people have to film themselves doing a nice gesture. It just comes across as disingenious. (Thank you)
..."disingenuous", I believe you meant to write, and I agree.
@irairod5160 yes, thank you. 😂 🤦♀️
Yup!🥰
@@Christinax1211 My pleasure!
It's not very ingenious, either
You don’t even need to be an influencer who receives PR to have a problem with what to do with the over abundant amount/excess of makeup (or any other stuff) one purchases; it is a terrible problem in our over-consuming society period. It seems in her mind BF was trying to do something nice, but it was condescending, insulting, and tone deaf on a hundred different levels. She should have checked with TJ Max before doing it. The second the clerk expressed discomfort, she should have stopped pushing the stuff on her. And it never should have been filmed; this makes it feel like a self-serving publicity grab rather than an act of kindness.
Exactly
Exactly. If it was truly selfless, then why did you film it? She could have just said that she gives her unused makeup to random stores that she shops at. She wanted to make it a whole production. It was tone deaf.
Tone deaf? Yes? Insulting? Possibly. Condescending? Absolutely not
Bethany is a huge hypocrite, I've never liked her she's not a good person..... Total B!!
agreed. i would love to receive some free makeup but the way she went about it was very insulting towards the poor store employee.
They could possibly get FIRED for taking gifts on the job…
@@pulidobl then you tell your boss and don't bring it home
@@staceya7870Even her accepting it can get her in trouble, especially since it was being filmed on camera.
Eh I worked at cvs and would accept gifts from customers I really appreciated the thought of thinking of me in the first place ha
The problem is that she tried to force it on her and claim she could make it fine. The employee was thinking I’m not losing my job over this.
This!!! Like for real
Exactly my thoughts.
the best part is that when someone commented asking how Bethenny knew the employee couldn't afford the makeup herself, she replied, "Because she works at TJ Maxx." LOLOLOLOL
Bot exactly
….does it though? Because Bethany forcing her unwanted products on an employee, putting her job at risk, and blatantly ignoring the employees desires and discomfort sounds pretty different from homeless people wanting different food…. I guess the only overlap is the attitude of “you peasants! You take what I give you and like it!!”
@@make.upexperiments7269Actually, I've read a few comments that said the exact same thing. They said it reminded them of that episode. So I guess a few people think the same way about this.
@make.upexperiments7269 LOL these peasant volunteers as makeup recipient tribute.😂
I thought the same 😂
Ignoring the "brand new" claim, which isnt true, I have two other issues: Why did she need attention for giving away makeup? And, as a former retail worker, we genuinely CAN lose our jobs for accepting any kind of freebie from anyone? (Which you touched on)
Jaclyn will do anything, but take actual accountability and ownership
Or work! 😂
@@mindibatlle91 OOP
Out of touch Gwennie-->😂😂😂
@misshell2223 they all are really 🤣🤣🤣
But anyone who thinks "you know what people need? Candles that smell like my vajay-jay!" Is delulu beyond delulu
Same (re: GOOP), it would be like buying anything Kardashian/Jenner. I will not support those rich con artists.
I don’t think women’s shelters accept open liquid products either 🙊
I have been seeing Jaclyn Cosmetics in TJ Maxx and Marshall’s for at least a year now but I was in TJ Maxx yesterday and there was TONS of Jaclyn Cosmetics. Like TONS.
Same. I was at TJ Maxx in Johnstown NY yesterday and it was all Jaclyn Cosmetics. They also had a lot of Violet Voss eyeshadow palettes. I bought a Flower Beauty blush and pressed powder.
I saw some Jaclyn Cosmetics at Marshall's about a yr ago too.
Ooh I need to go and see if it's filtered into the UK TK Maxx x
Bethany should have given the products to battered women and not put it on social media!
Amen. Amen. Amen.
Exactly.
They usually only accept brand new and unopened items.
When she said “Bethany is burdening Consuelo with her crap” I burst out laughing. Omg, I was actually laughing my ass off. Thank you for giving me such a good laugh.
That was my first thought! Like how has she not heard of this??
Just wanted to say that you presented the Jaclyn stuff in such a balanced and kind way which is refreshing even though she has hurt people you know.
Let me assure you about Gwen Paltrow, she is kind of celebrity that talks about herself in third person. Let me remind you that she had a "conscious uncoupling", said that she would rather "smoke crack than eat cheese from a tin", and claimed that "being an actress and a mother is way harder than having a 'regular job' and being a parent."
I mean, I champion everyone a little to live your life with one toe in of being delusional, but THAT woman puts her whole legs in that pool. 🙄🙄 And I GUARANTEE you that she isn't paying attention to ANYONE or ANYTHING outside her little Goop bubble. I''d bet money on it! 🤣🤣
To her credit though, she did also say that "she can't pretend that she is someone that makes $25,000 a year", so......at least she's owning it. 😂😂
Very well stated!! 👏 & I too agree with you 100%
Agreed.
Anyone who makes a candle scented after their lady bits...is off to me but hey to each their own I guess...????
Ohh Jen, the body scrub mitts I’d recommend is rituals or sunkissed, which is tanning brand, it’s great for prepping before tan and as a ghost I need tan 👻
they take everything…EVERYTHING off! Feels gross seeing it work but after you feel brand new!
When hearing about a Goop makeup launch we were all worried about makeup up products being made to smell like Gwyneth's... downstairs. And nobody wants that.

The Bethany story: it’s called virtue signaling. Bethany was trying to virtue signal to it failed.
Bethany should have donated it to project beauty share or a woman's shelter.
Women's shelters don't accept makeup nowadays. I tried to donate and they told me to give to a thrift store and that they give the women vouchers. In the meantime, others can buy it from that store!!! I called a lot of shelters and that's what they do nowadays...
I commented on Bethany’s post to donate to project beauty share. It’s perfect for open makeup. Would be great to see her promote it after this
About the green law in the EU: I saw a TikTok a few years ago it was mom in the US talking about a sheet set she bought for her newborn.
She never was a brand owner. She licensed her name 🤷♀️
She was, but not for makeup.

It angers me to no end that Jaclyn Hill made efforts to squash a small brand who was going by Koze first so that brand was forced to shut down, only for Jaclyn to end up shutting down her own Koze brand.

*Consuela
@msdouglas12100 Thank you, I'll fix it above, but I'm sad to see she's adopted the English corruption of the name. It should be Consuelo, like Remedios, Caridad, Resignacion, and Dolores.
@@irairod5160 Spanish names like that are so interesting to me. Thank you for that info!
I think that Listerine also touted it's product to help with treating a cold.

She keeps saying “as the founder and ceo”. But she’s not the ceo…it’s just her name….thats the confusing part.

Why didn't she (Bethany) donate to a women's shelter?
Because they don't take makeup anymore!!! Not in my area, anyway.
I have a brush bag like that ! I got it from Amazon a few years ago ! love the idea of the cup.

My favorite video every week. Thank you always Jen ❤
Good morning collective brain, and good morning Jen! Thank you for all your hard work on this awesome show!
How did forma let jaclyn lie for so long saying she was the owner of jaclyn cosmetics?! That’s what tripe me up
Because it fed into her narrative that made her so appealing. They weren't lying but they weren't going to stop her if sales were rising.
Because it was the only way they would make money on it.
Jen thank you for keeping classy, informative, fun and entertaining 👏😘
I saw a lot of Jaclyn cosmetics at tj max and for super cheap. I got a lot and loved all of them but I can’t bring myself to pay full price for her stuff. If she does go out or business I will definitely buy quite a bit at a discounted price
I just can't support her, even at TJ Maxx. I saw her Strawberry palette there. It's pretty but I just couldn't do it.
I did too kelly, and I was actually really impressed with the bronzer blush duo I purchased
In Europe November 11th is the beginning of "silly season"/carnival. It ends on Ash Wednesday. So it might be a reference to the ball season.
Bethenny is inflicting faux generosity on people 😆. Poor Consuelo.
What wrong? Public humiliation in exchange for some lip gloss
Agreed
Yup!
Her name is Consuela, people!
@@chelsea17az Then I honestly apologize for misrepresenting her!
Goop is giving Jones Road beauty balms....ffs is like a copy my homework but change it a little bit so we don't get in trouble.
It gave off the impression of, “you’ll take my leftovers peasant and be grateful!” Really out of touch on her part.
Yep… meaning we’ll. When she was poor she would have loved this makeup that SHE could have never been able to afford! That’s her story. She likes these gals. The corporate comment should not have been mentioned. Who screws with corporate.. she meant well period. That’s her thing doing stuff with people.. places.. and things. That’s it! ❤
Now that Sephora is available in the UK, will we have access to things like these gift sets etc? Xxx
Your "Haunted" eye shadow palette from Gourmand Girl is lovely on your eyes and made your eye colour look quite green.
I love how you do your lips. Iv been doing mine that way too. It’s a game changer
I was able to try the body cream from Vaseline. Omg! I don’t have darker skin but either way it’s amazing. I now want the whole line. Lol
Commenting for the engagement!!❤️❤️❤️
I love your videos. I'm a makeup junkie, and to complicate things, I now get my hair cut and colored at Ulta and there is 25 minutes of walking around the store while my hair processes, and I always buy "something." Last time I was at Ulta, I used over $250 in Ulta points to pay for my hair and purchases...but have to remind myself that to have $250 in points, I must have spent A LOT.
