interesting to see how things are done abroad, over here in Eastern Europe we mostly do masonry/brick structures, framed wooden structures are not that common, piles are very rare except high-rises or very complicated geology, shingles prevail steel roofs.
Be interesting to know if the chimney hitting the steel was known after the as-built/consented plans were done. I guess depending on design, could easy be changed at design stage.

I don't understand why in the United States they build their houses with such fragile materials and in such an unsafe way. Anyone who passes by that road can shoot at the house, passing through the walls as if it were butter. Apart from the fact that anyone passing by can easily get into that house. In Mexico, that house would have a high fence or would be inside a gated community with surveillance.

All societies have criminals, maybe in New Zealand it is not common for people to shoot at houses, but if some crazy person decided to do it, that house would not protect anyone since the walls are made of something similar to plywood.

Thought the same, would have been possible to have made allowance for this within the steel if it had been picked up during the design phase..

This house isn’t from the 1400’s. Drywall is the standard now.

Firstly it's in New Zealand not in the United States which means that secondly no-one is driving by and shooting at it, so it's a win/win.

What was the total cost for the house only /please do not include the driveways and landscaping.
The wooden pile drives bothers me..... apart from that its a very high spec.
