3 And in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.
4 And I wept much, because to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.
Note that this was a very thorough search yet it ended in failure and John wrote, "no man was found..."
These verses are KEY to our understanding the message God is conveying here: He is showing us TIMING and the movement of time. If we read ahead, Jesus WAS found-in a subsequent while John was weeping much.
WHY God God show John a vision with Jesus NOT SEEN in the throne room, then the Holy Spirit there in the throne room-when Jesus said He would send Him down as soon as He ascended-and "no man found?" God was showing John a vision from the PAST. Jesus was not in the throne room for at that time He was still on the earth.
No man was found in that first search because AT THAT TIME Jesus had not yet risen from th dead. (It is a vision from John's past.) The Holy Spirit was still there in chapter 4 because at that time Jesus and not yet risen from the dead, much less ascended to send the Holy Spirit down. But TIME PASSED as John wept much.
Jesus rose from the dead, and was immediately found worthy to take the book.
John then saw Jesus suddenly enter the throne room, having JUST ascended. What time was it? Jesus had just told Mary not to touch Him for He had not yet ascended. He sent Mary away and then ascended, and John got to see that moment in time in this vision.
Take careful note: Jesus went immediately to get the book and begin to open the seals.
WHEN, then, was that first seal opened? Around 32 AD. About the same time as the great comission!

Sorry, Mark, but Jesus was NOT seen in the throne room in chapter 4. We have over a dozen verses telling us Jesus went to be at the right hand of power, and Stephen SAW Him there. John saw the throne, saw the Father on the throne, but Jesus was NOT seen. God is telling us something.

    • @HL365

I'm not sure about all the minute details, but yes, we seem to be in agreement on basics. But what matters for us the most if we are faithful to the scriptures. That is what matters for us the most.

    What do the seals represent?
Many people pull the first seal out of its context of Jesus taking the book from the Father. We must ask, according to chapters 4 and 5, WHEN did Jesus take the book?
If we pay attention, when John looked into the throne room (in the vision) Jesus was NOT SEEN at the right hand of the Father, yet Stephen saw Him there. Then we notice that John saw the Holy Spirit still there-when Jesus said that He would send Him down as soon as He ascended. Then we notice that John watched a search for one worthy to take the book end in failure and John wrote, "no man was found."
If we read ahead, we see that Jesus was later found, but now we have a conundrum: Jesus NOT seen in a book about Him, the Holy Spirit NOT YET sent down, and Jesus NOT FOUND in a thorough search in heaven, on earth and under the earth. To understand WHEN Jesus opened the first seal, we MUST discover the answers to these questions.
God had a problem. He wanted to introduce John to the Book, but chose to start that part of the vision while the book was still in the hand of the Father. Since Jesus took the book the moment He arrived back in the throne room, some how God had to convey in a vision that Jesus got the book and began opening seals the moment after He ascended. How did God accomplish this?
Jesus was not seen at the right hand of the Father. This shows us that the timing of this part of the vision was while Jesus was on the earth or under the earth. "No man was found" worthy to take the book in that first search, simply because of timing: Jesus had not yet "prevailed" over death by rising out of hell and back to His body. TIME PASSED as John wept much, Jesus rose from the dead, and was then found worthy.
The next thing John saw in the vision was Jesus entering the throne room, having just sent Mary away and ascended up to heaven. He went immediately to get to Book and to begin opening the seals.
If we go by what is written, line upon line, Jesus opened that first seal right around the time He met with the disciples and gave them the great commission: GO and made disciples of all nations.
Seal 1 then is to represent the church sent out with the gospel.
Seals 2, 3, and 4 are to represent Satan's attempts to stop the advance of the gospel.
Satan, as the god of this world, of course demanded of God that he be allowed to stop the advance of the gospel. God has allowed Satan to use wars, famines, pestilences and wild beasts to try and stop the gospel (seals 2, 3 and 4) - hold it within that one fourth of the earth that God limited them to.
Because Satan is the god of this world, as the gospel advanced, martryrs were killed.
The 5th seal is for the martyrs of the church age. Stephen was surely one of those who cried out to God wondering how long it would be before God would avenge their murders-bring judgment. They were told that judgment (think the Day of the Lord) would not begin until the final martyr was to be killed as they all were killed-as church age martyrs. It seems God is waiting for that final number.
The pre-tribulation rapture will end the church age, and at that moment, the final martyr will have been just killed. Then judgment will be as the Day of the Lord will begin. When? At the 6th seal. The church has been waiting at the 5th seal a long time. Take note that the 6th seal is the very next event John write of after the 5th seal.
John confirmed this again because he saw the just-raptured church in heaven and wrote it in chapter 7-as the great crowd, too large to number. This will probably be billions of people: perhaps 50 generations of saints, plus all the children of the world, all in one place at one time. There will be no greater crowd mentioned in the book of Revelation. (The OT saints including those before the flood may be a larger group, but John does not mention them.)
Why did John write that this huge crowd, too large to number "came out of the great tribulation?" Most readers expect John's answer to be how this huge group got suddenly from earth to heaven-but that is not the answer John was given. Rather, the elder speaking to John explained how each member of this great crowd joined all the others. They each got born again as they washed their robes in the blood of Jesus. The elder never answered the question as to how they suddenly got from earth to heaven.
I believe God considers this life on earth as a life of tribulation. John wrote in the first chapter, "I, John, in the tribulation..." But I think God combined all this individual tribulation into one, since he was addressing one huge crowd. So "they" came out of each individual's tribulation, and added together God chose the word Mega or great.
This cannot possibly be referring to the days of great tribulation (GT) Jesus spoke of, for that will not begin until after the division point of the week, and at this point in time, John has not yet even started the week.
In summary, Paul told us his rapture would come just before the start of the DAY, John confirmed that timing with what he wrote at the 5th seal, and God confirmed it by allowing John to see the just-raptured church already in heaven before the week will begin.
This is why I believe the rapture is pre-trib: I know where the rapture is on John's timeline, and I know where the week begins. The rapture is going to be pre-trib simply because 6 comes before 7 in counting, and the 6th seal will certainly be opened before the 7th seal is opened to begin the 70th week.

Basically your interpretation of the seals is from a preterist point of view. We follow the historicist interpretation of scriptures. To learn more about the difference, please email us at info@hopelives365.com and we would be glad to talk to you about it.

    • @LyleCooper
      @LyleCooper ปีที่แล้ว

I rather think my interpretation is from a bible point of view. I just follow what the scriptures say. It is absolute that John did not see Jesus at the right hand of the Father in Rev. 4. If he had, he would surely have written it. Yet, there are over a dozen verses that tell us that is where Jesus went to be. Stephen SAW Him there.
It is just as sure that John did see the Holy Spirit there in the throne room, when in 95 AD would would expect Him to have been sent down years before.
John makes it very clear that the search for one worthy to take the book and open the seals that he got to watch ended in failure. "no man was found."
WHY was Jesus not seen? WHY was the Holy Spirit still there, when Jesus said He would send Him down as soon as He ascended?
WHY was Jesus not found in that first search? God had a problem. He wanted to introduce John to the book sealed with seals, but chose to begin that part of the vision while the book was still in the Father's hand.
Since Jesus took the book as soon as He ascended, somehow God had to show John that the timing he was seeing in the vision was timing of the past, a time before Christ ascended.
Finally, in chapter 5, He ascended and John got to see the moment He entered the throne room in the vision.
What does all this mean? It is very simple: Jesus ascended, got the book, and RIGHT THEN began opening the seals.

I don't believe the 24 elders are the church. I think they are Old Testament saints, probably raised when Jesus was raised.
Paul tells us that the rapture he wrote about would come JUST before the wrath of God would begin. God's wrath begins at the 6th seal. I think this placement of the rapture (Just before the 6th seal) is confirmed both by what we read at the 5th seal (they have to wait for judgment until the very last martyr killed as they all were - as church age martyrs, and by John seeing the just-raptured church in heaven right after the 6th seal, as that great crowd, too large to number.

    • @justmyopinion7
      @justmyopinion7 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@LyleCooper Luckily we don't have to guess... we just need to read and understand.
The 24 elders are human, as they say that they have been redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb from every tongue, nation, people and kindred. Is the old testament saints redeemed by Jesus's blood when Jesus wasn't born yet? I am not saying they are not present as I do believe they are as I believe they are 24 to represent the 12 tribes that accepted Jesus and also the church represented by the 12 disciples (apostles), these forming the church.
Rev 5 also says that they have been redeemed ONTO God from the EARTH.... no need to think it's from other unfallen worlds like SDA teaches.
It also mentions that they are made KINGS AND PRIESTS onto God to rule over the earth during the millenium and in the Bible there are only 3 entities/people that are kings and priests:
      1. Melchizedek
      2. Jesus Christ
      3. The church
Since it's definitely not the first two... it has to be the church.
In Rev 3:10 we read: "Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth."
Do you notice God says they are earth dwellers... there are several places that the Bible calls some people earth dwellers.... the church is not of this world... we are just passing through and our citizenship is in heaven.
In Mat 16:18 we read "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."
But in Rev 13:7 we read "And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations."
Did Jesus lie when He said that the gates of hell will not overcome the church?
The church is the 24 elders in Rev 5 and they are witnessing Jesus taking the scroll and opening the first seal... thus it is before Daniel's 70th week and the start of the tribulation.
