This is beautiful!! Thanks for all your instructions, lots of cool ideas outside the box. I'm a newbie at pedal steel but your phrasing and choice of notes make me wanna sit and learn the instrument all day long! Greetings from Warsaw, Poland
You’ll def learn what our guitar has available for us.Like one of my steel teachers always tells me,”It’s all laying right there in front of you”. Yeah Right.
Thanks Mickey, this is what my teacher was always pointing out to me to put your own take on a song. Great appreciated for the different interpretations. :)
Really helpful, thanks Mickey - I've always thought it was important to walk that fine line between being faithful to the original, but not boring because everyone knows what is coming next. Once we get past the initial mechanics of the moves, we need to start to look for ways of putting our own "stamp" on a piece.
Hi Mickey! Love all the teachings you have out there! Just starting myself for enjoyment. What a challenge! I thought I would request a song on pedal steel. Dixie Chicken by Little Feat. Sure would love to hear it! Keep up the good works!!
Hey, Mickey! Thanks for giving us fellow players one more reason to not play so timidly and predictably. I had an idea to share with you regarding camerawork. Is there any reason why it is customary to have the camera from the audience perspective, rather than the player's? I tried setting my iPad up to,essentially view the lesson "upside down", giving me the same view as you have as a teacher. To me, it seems as though that eliminates on layer of "translation", of having to reverse in your mind what you are viewing. Just a thought. Thanks for all your awesome work, and your contributions to the pedal steel community. Mike
Hey neighbor! Im in montgomery. I found your stairway to heaven video and i enjoied this one, too. Im not a real big country fan, but i do like the steel guitar, and think it has great applications outside of it's normal country home. Great stuff, dude. Subscribed Sam Lynch check this guy out
The steel guitar is one of those instruments that I have never understood. I now have a little better understanding of how it works. But I can't figure how Don Helms did all that without pedals!

I was looking for a long time for a cover as good as the original, I never would’ve thought I would find a cover better than the original.

This song also has Lyrics written by Betsy Brye so that's something to keep in mind.
