My favourite little thing about DOOM is when Hayden tells Doomguy to stop during the Argent pipes deal, he actually does. The Doomguy isn't stupid, he's willing to listen, at least for a minute. Then he smashed the pipe anyways because he didnt like Hayden's sell.

Fun fact: The first time I played this my pc was not exactly up to snuff. Now, Doom has a wonderful way of handling frame drops. The game speed actually slows down to allow your processor a chance to catch up. So, that means my first playthrough of this game was in slow motion, and I loved every cinematic second of it.

I love how you can see RT slowly progressing and getting better at the game as it goes, eventaully going full DOOM mode in the end. He's still a few things to learn around but overall I loved his streams of Funkopop collecting.

@@JacobTheCroc this might be an unpopular opinion, but I don't usually upgrade siege mode when I replay the campaign. Doing the instant siege glitch is really easy once you get the hang of it so most of the upgrades become kinda pointless.

Doom x Power Wash Sim exists and it's called Viscera Cleanup Detail. You are a janitor who cleans up after a spaceship gets totally destroyed by something like doom guy. You need to refill health pickups and everything it's great. Also it has multiplayer options.
I also love the fact that the devs knew damn well we were gonna try and shoot him immediately, so they gave him a special dialogue line for it. I tried to shoot him with no hesitation on my first playthrough, was caught off-guard by him reacting to it, and broke down laughing. It's become tradition to shoot him each time
Fun fact: the shield dudes deal so much damage because they have shotguns and Rt is running directly towards them with his chainsaw. So no matter if player or enemy shotguns make us all stronger.

Out of everything in this game, I'm actually genuinely surprised that RT didn't have much of a reaction towards the Spider Mastermind. with how severe his Arachnophobia is, I was sure something like this would have set something off.
As someone who also has pretty bad arachnophobia, to the point of using mods to replace them in other games, it never crossed my mind. Just isn't spider-like enough. Only 4 legs, a human-like face, largely mechanical (no little hairs on the legs that would creep me out). RT might have similar feelings if he never even mentioned it on stream.
The game makes you so nervous about standing still at any point because of the way combat is that when you try and hold still to listen to an audio log or whatever, it's the most anxious feeling in the world.
Considering his entire goal in this game was to stop the UAC from their shady exploitation of hell and demons, I'm unironically almost certain Doom Guy would be anticapitalist.
He just hates corruption and anything that brings harm to people and animals. Part of the reason the UAC were going into Hell was because Earth is running out of energy sources, but Doomguy doesn’t really care because the UAC’s actions posed extreme risk and harm to people’s lives. The ends never justify the means if someone is harmed.

This is the reason I like this one a lot more than Eternal. Eternal feels like they felt the need to catch up on lore, world building, story, etc. to the point where it was just too much. I like the simplicity this one has

Oh my god. For like two years now I have always wished that RT would play this game at some point. And now he has. DOOM is one of my favorite game series ever (if you couldn't tell) and I'm SO excited to see Dan play Eternal (and possibly TAG!)
Fun fact, not only does Doomguy defeat the demon horde in the timeline of the games, he canonically always defeats the demon horde in every timeline that can possibly exist. The man is so badass it is canonically impossible for him to ever not be badass.

@@cyberneticsquid Great question, I haven't tried! My motionsickness is also very odd to me - because I personally love playing games with fast movement and multiple movement abilities. Getting around fast and smooth is my favorite thing in games. It's just that Doom sets it off really bad haha. The only other things to set off my motionsickness have been It Takes Two (spider section - not helped by the fact that I am also arachnopobic) and those mobile games that have you driving quickly along a tube (no real sense of "up" and "down").

Fully upgraded Super Shotgun is going to quickly mulch pretty much anything, with an ammo type that is plentiful. Feeling impatient? Fun as it is I'm kind of glad they fixed it for Eternal so you have to use all your weapons lol
If Rt's entire channel was unknown to me, I would still be able to tell he has great taste purely from him immediately falling in love with the super shotgun.
Can't wait for Doom Eternal Dan :D it was my first Doom game. Really helped me with some of my pandemic anxiety. One of my favourite things is the community, it can be oddly wholesome to an extreme. Like, I mentioned once to a Doom fan how I have trouble with loud, bright & fast-paced games so I play on easy to just help with it. I love the Doom games, but it can be a bit much cause I get sensory overload real easily. They were really nice and all, "Have fun! Don't push yourself tho, ok?" And my love for Doom was solidified. I'm not sure if this is just me but the 1st level has always been the hardest, even on replays of the game or collectors runs I did I still struggled most at the start. Also its so cool seeing Dan learn all the small tricks (e.g double meleeing the weak enemies for near instant glory kills)

Out of everything in this game, I'm actually genuinely surprised that RT didn't have much of a reaction towards the Spider Mastermind. with how severe his Arachnophobia is, I was sure something like this would have set something off.
As someone who also has pretty bad arachnophobia, to the point of using mods to replace them in other games, it never crossed my mind. Just isn't spider-like enough. Only 4 legs, a human-like face, largely mechanical (no little hairs on the legs that would creep me out). RT might have similar feelings if he never even mentioned it on stream.

The game makes you so nervous about standing still at any point because of the way combat is that when you try and hold still to listen to an audio log or whatever, it's the most anxious feeling in the world.
Considering his entire goal in this game was to stop the UAC from their shady exploitation of hell and demons, I'm unironically almost certain Doom Guy would be anticapitalist.
No. He's anti stupid. This could have unleashed by literally anyone and he'd oppose it.
He just hates corruption and anything that brings harm to people and animals. Part of the reason the UAC were going into Hell was because Earth is running out of energy sources, but Doomguy doesn’t really care because the UAC’s actions posed extreme risk and harm to people’s lives. The ends never justify the means if someone is harmed.

This is the reason I like this one a lot more than Eternal. Eternal feels like they felt the need to catch up on lore, world building, story, etc. to the point where it was just too much. I like the simplicity this one has

I'm normally a big fan of meaty lore to a game but it just felt like it slowed Eternal down too much for my liking

My motionsickness is also very odd to me - because I personally love playing games with fast movement and multiple movement abilities. Getting around fast and smooth is my favorite thing in games. It's just that Doom sets it off really bad haha.
The only other things to set off my motionsickness have been It Takes Two (spider section - not helped by the fact that I am also arachnopobic) and those mobile games that have you driving quickly along a tube (no real sense of "up" and "down").
@@moonmakes Classic Doom doesn't give you as much crazy movement as the modern games, but it's still a fun experience, could be worth a try especially since it's still possible to get the old demo version working

Absolutely correct! Fully upgraded Super Shotgun is going to quickly mulch pretty much anything, with an ammo type that is plentiful. Feeling impatient? Just briefly switch to the Siege Mode Gauss Cannon to delete the source of your impatience and go back to the Super Shotgun!
Fun as it is I'm kind of glad they fixed it for Eternal so you have to use all your weapons lol

it was my first Doom game. Really helped me with some of my pandemic anxiety.
One of my favourite things is the community, it can be oddly wholesome to an extreme. Like, I mentioned once to a Doom fan how I have trouble with loud, bright & fast-paced games so I play on easy to just help with it. I love the Doom games, but it can be a bit much cause I get sensory overload real easily.
They were really nice and all, "Have fun! Don't push yourself tho, ok?"
And my love for Doom was solidified.

I'm not sure if this is just me but the 1st level has always been the hardest, even on replays of the game or collectors runs I did I still struggled most at the start.
Also its so cool seeing Dan learn all the small tricks (e.g double meleeing the weak enemies for near instant glory kills)
