To everyone asking how to get Gimmighoul if you don't own a Switch: Either find someone who does because they ARE tradeable, or, If you don't personally know anyone, just keep your eyes out for a golden lure. If someone in your area does have SV, gets a golden lure from it and puts it down, there is a chance (however tiny) you might encounter a Gimmighoul at that stop. Those are currently the only two ways to obtain it if you do not own a Switch & S/V. (Edit: Plus, if someone did drop a golden lure, maybe they're sticking around that stop themselves for the coins and you can meet a new friend and trade for one of theirs ^^)

Those should be a permanent feature. I'd actually prefer that over getting spammed by Team Rocket, which actually decreases the amount of items you can receive from a stop.

You can make a Nintendo account without owning a Nintendo game system that's how I got my Meltan box. I connected my pokemon go account and pokemon home to the same Nintendo account it's my own account and I don't own a Nintendo game system. You can look up how to make a Nintendo account without a Nintendo game system and it will give you instructions on how to do it. That's how I got my Meltan box. I haven't opened it in awhile because I have all the candies and candy XL I need to max my Melmetal and Meltan when I reach level 40 and can actually start to max my pokemon.
You don’t need a switch to get a meltan box. I’m hoping they will eventually make it possible to get the gimighoul without one, too. More and more, Niantic seems to only want rich people playing their game.

As a Pokemon Scarlet/Violet player lemme tell you this...Gholdengo is a MONSTER in the game! It is easier to get 999 coins in Pokemon Scarlet/Violet compared to Pokemon Go though! Probably get all coins in about 2 hours!
At first, I was excited about gimmeghoul but i have no patience to collect 999 coins 1 at a time. And then when you evolve it, you have to recollect the coins to evolve again

I spun stops for about 8 hours today and got 2. About half the time a gold stop was in reach. I don't have Scarlet/Violet so I wonder if having done an interaction with the Switch game boosted your odds.
I never had a switch for meltan either just had friends that did. If you have friends that play pogo ask them if they play the switch games and ask them for the bag.

over more than one day, ur only allowed one postcard a day and i also heard u cant send the same postcard twice since ur able to keep them. everytime u send the postcard u get the coin bag and it goes away at midnite at the end of everyday and then u repeat the next day to keep getting it.

I got 30 Gimmighoul in my lure while on my way home from vacation and only managed to catch 2. All the rest shook once and fled. Razz Berries and even a Gold Razz Berry with a curveball great throw didn't help. I don't know if I'm just unlucky af or if they've heavily lowered the catch rate since

Why? You can Connect one switch to different go Accounts. When meltan came along I used to give away the mistery Box with my switch to over a Dozent different players and I will do this again. Also just wait there will be another way some day

also worth noting Golden lures ONLY last for 30 minutes. We put on 12 of these in our local hotspot area and despite all of the "3 hour lures" messages from the current events they only lasted 30 mins... So BS lies from Niantic yet again
Special items like the Golden lure and daily incense only last their normal length of time unless it explicitly states that that specific item's time is extended.
Help please ! I’ve never played pokemon violet or scarlet before( just pokemon go); i got the switch and started pokemon violet, got to main menu , options, but pokeportal is not listed as an option; what am i doing wrong?

Probably screwed. Same with Meltan. I don't think there was ever another way to get it unless you connected it to your switch and Pokemon Home.

Apparently if you keep the lure module but send another postcard, you'll get some coins instead. Not sure how many, but this could be a big help.

While pokemon go account can only send one a day, a game on switch can receive postcards from as many accounts as you like.

You can activate the meltan box without a switch by sending pokemon to pokemon home.

Why? You can Connect one switch to different go Accounts. When meltan came along I used to give away the mistery Box with my switch to over a Dozent different players and I will do this again. Also just wait there will be another way some day

I think they do. When I first tried to claim the 9 free coins from the shop it said my item bag was full.

also worth noting Golden lures ONLY last for 30 minutes. We put on 12 of these in our local hotspot area and despite all of the "3 hour lures" messages from the current events they only lasted 30 mins...

Special items like the Golden lure and daily incense only last their normal length of time unless it explicitly states that that specific item's time is extended.

Help please ! I’ve never played pokemon violet or scarlet before( just pokemon go); i got the switch and started pokemon violet, got to main menu , options, but pokeportal is not listed as an option; what am i doing wrong?
