    Emma, not only are you a wonderful artist, but you are also a wonderful person. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I am part of the Monet Café Group and, whenever a member asks who else other than Susan Jenkins can offer great tutorial (both on TH-cam and paid on Patreon), I always recommend you. Thanks again.

      Thank you very much, I really appreciate that. I'm very fortunate to have so many supporters who constantly recommend me. There is only so much self promotion I can do and I know it's mostly down to others speaking well of my work. Thanks again! And Susan is fantastic too, I love her channel and the energy she gives to this!

    And I've said it before. Emma you have saved me so much money. I didnt have any wasted expense when I started out in soft pastels. You introduced me to soft pastels via this youTube channel - you create art that I aspire to. And you ❤❤have been so generous with your knowledge. Your 'Unison Colour Emma Colbert Animal Collection' and Pastelmat and Verlour. Best investment I've made in my art. ❤

    🥳40+K 🎉 Hooray for today. What a treat. I am glad you included a fluffy texture on the tunnel as I want to try a fluffy blanket. And I am always amazed at how far you push light and shade. And so many of us have (and love) your animal set so this is so it is lovely to have a paint along with you using your pallette.
    And the real-time is going to be great for getting me to speed up it takes me a week or two to paint a small painting like this (more if I procrastinate) so I'm looking forward to challenging myself to a paint along. ❤ Thank you Emma. What a cute kitten 🐱

      Thank you! I hope you had a go at this already. I wasn't going to include a background but then I thought why not!

    Hi Emma, I was searching for answers to filming positions on my easel for my own TH-cam channel. as I have never been absolutely happy with the way I have done it in the past. Anyway, your channel flagged up, and I am so pleased that it did. You gave me a few ideas, and though I have used most of the small refinements you suggested will make a difference in filming in the future. Thank you. My watercolours etc are filmed overhead, but I want my future oils and pastels as you do on my easel. So once again, thank you. I have enjoyed a good few of your videos today, well filmed and you are easy to listen to. You also mention in your biog training at Maidstone. ( Kent?) I so I live not so far away, not important I know, anyway thanks again for the heads up, best wishes Paul Apps

      Thanks for the comment Paul! Yes it was in Maidstone, I enjoyed my time in Kent. Glad you found the video helpful and it's really nice to get such good feedback on my videos. I'm not an expert on this, you have to learn as you go!

    I look forward to following along in the near future! I only have half of the animal set so I might try to get the full set first, if not I will just substitute some colours 🥰

      Hi Amy, check which colours you have. I literally used half the animal 36 set, 18 colours in total. I bet you have what would do it!

    Hi Emma! Lovely tutorial, you provide a ton of useful info 😊 I love how you choose to change the colors to make some other colors stand out 🥰 No relation with the video, but where do you get the Nupastels from in Spain? I can't find anywhere locally.

    • @EmmaColbertArt
      @EmmaColbertArt  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you! Think I ordered the last Nupastels from Dakota pastels in the US. They're not easy to find individually any more unfortunately. Not sure what I'll do with the black I've grown so fond of when I run out!

    Why not underpainting with black gouache for background like Jason Morgan says?

    • @rosered8234
      @rosered8234 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Like what JM says ? you are dictating another artists methods to a very well established artist with her own personal preferred concept & ways . If you prefer JM ways .. then go watch his .

      Emma is all about UNISON pastels & not GOUACHE paints . Unison is her trademark . Maybe do some history on the artist !

    • @EmmaColbertArt

      There is no right or wrong to be honest. For me keeping it all in soft pastel means that the light hits the painting equally right across. What I don't really like about using paint in the background is that it isn't as lovely and matt in appearance as pastel is. Black pastel to me looks so rich and dark from all angles. But as I said, no right or wrong. Just different.
