    Thank you Paul! You got right to the point, were understandable, so informative..all the hours I wasted looking for blinds today could have been saved if I'd known about you first!

      Thank you Mary for your kind words. By the way, this video was shot over 10 years ago, so there are many new options. Please call us if you'd like to work with Kempler Design.

    Congratulations Paul, very educative video blog. Indeed, sidelights have limited decorative window treatment solutions, but one solution not mentioned here is the use of faux wrought iron (such as Tableaux) - one of the best if not the best decorative solutions for sidelight windows.

    All most all video talks about what can you do for treatment on sidelights but no one recommends what size rods to go for or how to choose the rods. if possible please help choose rods , i have bought sash rods but later realized it is bit too long for me to use it.

      I'm leaning towards getting cabinet tension rods. They're called Camco cupboard bars from Walmart! I'm gonna need to buy 2 packs to have enough. They come in a pack of 3

    Laurie, it's called a RTB, rod top and bottom. So there is a rod pocket at both the top and bottom. I hope this helps.

    What ideas are there if you want to have night time privacy from those side light windows? We have similar to the above set up and we walk past it a lot so are looking at more privacy for when the lights are on in the house?

      I’m glad you asked this question. This video was one of the first ones we ever made. It was over 10 years ago. There are a lot of new options to consider. But in the video, I mentioned other choices. These days, sidelight cellular shades are popular as are shutters. But like all of our projects, we base our choices on how the consultation goes. We help our clients to find the best solution for their needs. If you, or someone who is reading this, would like to work with us, please reach out to us via the website at kemplerdesign.com. Just know that I’m way older now. :)

    Love the sheer fabric look but you don’t mention how those are hung/installed?

      Hi Amy. These were done with stationary telescoping rods. FYI, this was done over 10 years ago. You may want to find updated options.

      @@PaulKempler can you still buy these as my apartment won’t allow actual rods. Do you have a link at all to the one in the video that appears to stick/fit on? Thank you!

    Did you put a rod at the bottom of the curtain as well as the top? Or do they just hang from the top rod? Thanks!

    Hi I like this side panel idea, I am in Toronto and how can I buy this? My side window is about 9.4''. Is the panel comes with the rod? how wide is the rod. an tension rod 8'' - 11'' would be good for us.

    What is to keep a burglar from busting that side window and reaching your door locks or chains or bars its something we don't think about these 11 inch windows they are a security risk and I can't think of how to secure that side window.

    Hi Paul. Is it possible to order the panels in that fabric or other fabric from you? Kindly assist with directions and estimate of price, please. Thank you!

      I’d like to know if it can be delivered to Ames, Iowa?

    • @PaulKempler
      @PaulKempler  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, we can deliver, but our choices of fabrics are individually chosen per our clients needs. That video is almost 10 yrs old, so the fabric is no longer available. My suggestion is to hire us, or a local drapery or curtain specialist in your area. If you hire us, we will do a video conference, select the material, determine sizes and send you the finished product. Thanks for watching our video and for sending us your thoughts.

    I went to get some blinds for mine but all they had was 9.5 inches. I need a 10.5 inch wide blind 🤦‍♂️
    It does cover the glass but not enough overlap to block the light 🤦‍♂️

    Unable to see the way the rod is attached to the window.

    Hi Paul, my sidelight windows are 79" long. In shopping online, I'm seeing some great side panel drapes, but they seem to only sell for as long as 72". I wouldn't think it would look very good to leave a small gap (around 3") at the top and bottom (or maybe a half-foot gap at the bottom only), not completely covering the windows, would it? If the answer is "no," do you know if approximately 80" drapes are sold anywhere without me needing to order them custom-made?

  • @PaulKempler
    @PaulKempler  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your best bet is to find a drapery designer in your area to assist you. I'd love to help, but we would need to select a specific fabric which is difficult to do over such a long distance. Also, you will be able to find a local fabricator to make the panels. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know.
    Paul

  • @PaulKempler
    @PaulKempler  8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Marcia. Please contact us by phone to discuss. That fabric has been discontinued, but there are similar fabrics that we can have made to your specifications and ship them to you.

    Your best bet is to find a local drapery designer. Everything you saw is custom. I'd be happy to help you if you need it, but your costs will be lower if you work locally. Let me know if you'd like my help on this. I might be able to find a designer in your area, or I will work with you if you desire.
