the back and sides are three ply wild cherry, the top is a solid spruce top....great guitars, I have ten Godin guitars lol! I think the knobs are cool actually gives it a retro look and feel....

I dig the knobs on the front. Their color and shape kind of reminds me of those small brass buttons on a typical pair of jeans.

The top is solid tested spruce and not wild cherry as you mentioned.

The biggest difference is probably that the A&L's scale is longer, just shy 25" vs 23.5" for the Taylor.
Godin is so underrated as their guitars have a better build quality and price point than guitars built south of the border !
