    Here's a free tip. Run that skid steer wide open throttle. It's designed to run that way. Especially when you're struggling to move those boulders.

    • @WhitetailJunkies
      @WhitetailJunkies 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly! He had no lifting power because he had no hydraulic flow because the pumps were basically at idle. Always run it wide open on throttle, it is truly designed that way! It’s not a tractor, it’s a high performance machine. Your work time will be cut down by 80% I bet…. You haven’t even touched that machine’s potential.

      Tractor habits I guess. Thanks for the tips guys. Learning a lot daily about this new level of heavy machinery. Curious if you know about curling sensitivity (and maybe this is a Takeuchi thing I have to get used to). It seems like my curl functions are super fast with not much room for precision, unlike the booms. This normal?

      Don't know for certain about your machine,but on Cat's skidsteers,in the operations console,the is a hydraulic flow setting adjustments menu for the lift arms and bucket controls,,when operating at full throttle,the controls can be a bit twitchy,but by adjusting the flow control modules, you can taylor them to you liking,,the operators manual should easily spell out how to make those adjustments. I do agree with the other comments, that your machine should be running at full throttle, you'll see a world of difference in it's operating abilities!! Have Fun!!😎😎😎

    I just recently discovered your channel. I have a Takeuchi TL 230, which is basically the same model that you have. It's just the next model after the TL 130 that you have. I also have that exact stump bucket from Titan. It took me a bit to learn how to really use the stump bucket for stumps. I have learned that the best way for stumps is to use the weight of the machine and the teeth on the edges of the stump bucket to cut the roots, by going back and forth. Go shallow at first and then work your way down and it just rips the roots apart and then eventually you can get to the meat of the stump and start seeing some movement. I kind of beat my machine up a little bit at first trying to go after the stump and focusing on the stump and not the roots around the stump. One more thing, that lower drop on the bucket can be used like a lever. I was beating up my hydraulic arms putting all the weight and pull on them at first. Then I learned that if I get the bucket down there I just tilt the bucket itself and that bucket works like a lever with that rear lower section you showed being the fulcrum. Hopefully, you can learn from my experiences. I also have that same skeleton bucket from Titan except mine has a grapple in the center of the bucket. Mine weighs 850 pounds, with added grapple and it is an absolute beast. My Takeuchi handles it just fine. It is a brush clearing monster. You are able to grab whole trees and drag them up hills and things like that too. Anyway, it was fun to discover your channel because you use very similar equipment to what I have. Enjoy!

      @WalnutsandWineberries  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome, thanks for sharing! I'm quite happy with the TL130 and Takeuchi in general. I'm sure I'll be a pro with those stumps soon with the number of cedars we need to clear at the house site. The sawed edges are fantastic on both buckets. They really give you a grip on various things, especially brush. Also, I appreciate all the tips!

    Hi, Meg & John..
    I enjoyed your bucket adventure. As far as naming the Skid Steer it appears to me you should have a different name for it depending on which bucket is mounted.
    Sounds like Skeletor should be the name wither the rock bucket and Rambo the name with the stump bucket.
    As far as your limited vision I would suggest a camera video screen combination. You can use multiple cameras and select whichever one is desired at the time or split screen and watch all at once. mounting one high and one low facing forward and one on the rear facing backward could be very useful. There are many available on the internet under $500.
    I'm not sure but I bet some of them you could even record your videos through them. Just an Idea from my EZ Chair!!! Enjoy your projects!!!

      Good question. When we were trying to decide when we first got the property, we made a list of all the "jobs" we would be needing to do then columns with different machines. We ended up with the tractor/backhoe because it checked the most boxes. The skid steer is much more powerful, but has things it can't do as well as the tractor, like go through mud (which we have a lot of in the winter). It is a tough call between the two ... which is why we have both. It really depends on your terrain and jobs that need to be accomplished. I would say tractor, but Jon would most likely say skid steer. - Meg

      I assume you are referring to the shale pit? few people have commented this. Can you give us more information about what you mean? Going up hill it is much more difficult to get a grip on the ground and it does not provide the weight of the machine for leverage. Further, getting into a crack in the stone is nearly impossible going uphill. Can you elaborate some more to help us out? - Meg

    He needs a few 'boys' in his life with all the girls he gets. Around here it's the opposite.

    I've got both of those from Titan as well. I got the wider 72" fine skeleton bucket. Both have paid for themselves.

    if you arent getting those trees til; june you will need to water them daily all summer just about any day it does not rain. In your part of world should of been panted 2 week ago For me at 43 degrees lat 77.5 degrees lud planting time for trees begins the last week of April to May 15. The idea is to put them in in the last three weeks u can have a frost. The ground is still wet and will stay wet for at least the first 5 to 6 weeks of transplant. Planting them late just means mor work to keep them alive.
    By the way this yr i will be putting in another 5 acres of orchards on my farm/ ranch. Got control of another 200 acres last week It is poor ground but i will use it as grazing land and make it better with rotational grazing. In about 5 yr will plow it up and replant to grass and take hay off it for a few years before putting it back to pasture to renew. Yes using land properly for pasture renews the land
