I think the main issue with this is the fact we weren't ready for the story focus to end. It kinda just felt like it slipped away from our hands within the matter of seconds. I still enjoy the game to this day tho, it's still fun, still fun to see how far the game can get. But I would be lying to myself if I didn't say that part of the big reason I'm into the game was the storyline, the characters, The Seven, Geno, the zero point. All of that. It's gonna take a good while for people to get used to the story not being the focus anymore. Truth is this day was always gonna come around, didn't matter if we liked it or not. It's really sad to see but I'm still hopeful for the game's future it might be me coping to see some cool story event this chapter but yeah.

Ive played fortnite since 2017 to now. Fortnite is evolving and im glad it is. I will miss the era of fortnite that i started that but thats okay because at the end of the day I've had a good time playing fortnite and will continue to 😂
The way I see it is there has to be a reason for losing live events. Maybe they were too expensive? But then like some people point out, that shouldn't be a problem for a multi billion dollar company. Makes me think you are right to some extent in saying it really must not be as big of a thing as we always thought. Either way if I was in Tim's spot I would have them anyways to please the community and make them happy. They are what drives a lot of the hype for Fortnite after all.
I’m sorry but without the storyline, half the appeal of the game is gone for me. All I care about in this game is battle royale and the story, now I feel like the soul of the game got ripped out. The storyline was the soul of the game. Now it’s void and I agree it’s starting to feel like any other game
Did you actually talk to the NPCs on the map this season to see what they said about the story? Of do you just buy weapons and shockwaves from them? Also the story line is messed up... and with time travel, rifts, and alternate dimensions ... Nothing needs to make sense and anything can be explained because of it ... Which is why they dont focus on it
@@bigpapasmurf187 to be totally honest I hate when the storyline is told through quests and challenges. I miss when it was told through map changes, loading screens, cut scenes, trailers, and live events. I did all the Midas quests and actually loved the story of how Midas escaped and such! I have been doing my best to keep up with the story through the quests but I mostly rely on TH-camrs to explain the challenge quests to me. I’m one of those rare players who spends most of their time grinding competitive, but also loves the storyline so much. I’ve spent most of my time this season grinding ranked to put myself in the top 500 in the world in unreal builds, but I suppose yes I could spend more time trying to do the quests and understand them. - Cloudie FDM
I bought Billy elish with your code.😊 Hope it helps. Also as much as I prefer the story the metaverse is the future and if you don't think so just look if you don't like it don't play it. #WCLEN and #WDONALDMUSTARD
The core part of the game, battle royale, definitely feels like any other battle royale, collab items doesn’t seem special after we had them every single season. And the other parts of the game, like Festival and racing get boring very fast, some creative maps have better player counts than those modes. Still the main BR is enjoyable in my opinion but just does not feel unique anymore.
When I finally got to see Fortnite, I was amazed at the events. I had not known any game to do anything like what they did. Then when I started playing and experienced them, they got me into the story. I am one of the story guys and clearly a lot of people are upset about it. It doesn't mean that those vocal about it belong to some small group that should be negated because someone anecdotally knows people who don't care about it. That's not a way to measure the enthusiasm for anything, let alone story live events. That's a confirmation bias bubble. Should we just not care about the story because of change? One thing I loved about the game was how it didn't stay the same, but one constant was a backbone of its story. It had me wondering what's next, let's keep playing to see. Should the story just end and the BR game become like Team Fortress 2 or even Save the World that just runs forever with very little updates? Are we supposed to look back and say, "Wow what a nice thing we had. It's not here anymore so let's just take it, too bad we can't have that again"? I believe one way to keep your fandom happy and helping you make money is by giving them what they want. I don't see how Epic loses money on an event in just ONE of its games. They can have the metaverse and also have live events. People and companies are capable of doing multiple things at once. But again, I ask, if story isn't important, why have it at all? Maybe have it in a feature-length film. On the other hand, there still IS a story. This season has one and it seems like they have them planned the rest of the year. They have done a wonderful job previously by letting stuff dangle from previously and then it comes into play later and we never noticed all the clues. It's what helps make the game that much more fun and can bring others in because they want to experience it too. I see lots of reactors who after seeing lore videos on TH-cam have their interests piqued. Then those new players start playing expecting all the grand things from the past only to be let down. Sure just playing is still fun, but the extras is what made the game what it was and people loved that umph. However, I wonder if the new story will make sense... like to me Season 2 OG doesn't make sense unless Jones shows up again with the time machine since they're missing. But it gets boring if you repeat. I like the idea what this is the alternate Chapter 2... heck gas is even cheaper on the island, so it has to be 2019. Regardless, I will play BR as it is still like no other game. I play Festival to help level up and if I need a change of pace, maybe the other modes... maybe. Maybe I should take a break... 3 years straight of playing almost exclusively Fortnite... but I can't find a better game. And if things change too much to be bland, then what? The kid that got me into the game recently quit on account of drama with his friends and he said the game changed too much since we first jumped in Chapter 2 season 3. He's gone back to playing Left4Dead 2 which is what we were playing prior to Fortnite. That game got boring to me because it was the same thing over and over and over... the same campaigns, the same other modes, over and over with no change. Change can be good, if it is done right. Fortnite had done it right, keeping the game fresh. Obviously people still love playing BR and the story means something to a good number of people. BR is Fortnite's claim to fame; it should get all the bells and whistles, including story live events. Those things draw customers/players. People don't like change because change usually is not for the better. You often lose things you love and have to adapt to a world that CAN have a lesser quality. I hope Fortnite doesn't change what made it popular so much that it starts declining in quality.
People also need to realize fortnite has been a metaverse before they were throwing the word around... "The metaverse is a loosely defined term referring to virtual worlds in which users represented by avatars interact, usually in 3D and usually focused on social and economic connection" Sooo every live event, every concert, them adding proximity chat, ltms, little map events like joke nite or the kid lori and party royale, and every creative map or any time you squaded up with friends or randoms and talked to some one" Its always been a metaverse
And your absolutly correct about the story line, there are characters who you talk to on the map now, and they explain the story line and no one cares lol they just wanna play the game after work with friends" And just because epic is adding other game modes to the game does not mean battle royale will dissapper either ... Look at save the world its still here and people still play it..
Thinking that epic focusing on other modes is going to take away from battle royale it won't. Thats like saying if a steak house and vegan restraunt were beside eachother that one would steal customers from the other lol Yes, they both offer food, but too a different customer... Lets look at rocket racing, it was clearly added to link rocket league and fortnite together... fortnite crew members have already got the rocket pass for free for a while ... I never played rocket league until i could earn a car i could use in fortnite ... even tho i've been fortnite crew for a while.. Rocket racing was also added so they sell cars... and it worked ... I know lots of players who have bought cars in fortnite but hate the racing mode... Also look at the player counts, barley anyone plays rocket racing, i've seen save the world have higher player counts.. So even tho no one really plays rocket racing its clearly making $$$$ Lego fortnite i played it for a bit, realized it was very repetitive, and stopped playing... I think its great they added the mode for younger players, lego fans or people who enjoy survival games... I havent spent a dime on lego, or racing mode... or fortnite festival... i have played them for the free rewards i wanted to earn.... I kinda want the billie elish skin tho so gonna get it will plug code clen too to help a family man out 😁 People need to realize people wont buy things they dont want, or play things they dont want to play.... if a person comes to fortnite for lego and spends money on the game helps keep fortnite alive, they may dislike playing battle royale but they are still part of the fortnite community/ecosystem/metaverse. Great video btw 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Sorry for such a long response, alot of people seen the word metaverse and just freaked out over it for no reason imo ... I said for years😅 fortnite legit trained the youth to buy NFT's ... cause the skins you buy are basically digital collectables, so i always seen the metaverse was already here...
People online rly overreacting. Its a free game. The only thing that should ever be critisized is any bug or glitch that ruins gameplay, thats it. Otherwise we should just enjoy this game and the many collabs it has that is unlike any other game ever
Yea but people hate change like they changed movement at the beginning of chapter 5, removing rarities a few weeks ago and these new modes I am indifferent about any of these things but the community hated them
@@Volt_Fortnite You very clearly aren’t as passionate about the game as a lot of people are. Just because it follows a F2P model doesn’t mean we shouldn’t criticize something we don’t like about the game or its current direction. The people having concerns or wanting change clearly care about what they’re playing. Edit: Just to add onto what I’ve said, it’s okay to enjoy what we have at the moment, because as the saying goes, you don’t know what you have until it’s gone, but to also be dismissive to any valid concerns and brush it off as the community whining for the sake of whining, is incredibly ignorant.
They should have just split the difference and split the game into two different games one for story and one for everything else one of the new modes could have been a story heavy mode
I wasn't the biggest fan of Fortnite OG. Like yeah they bring back the map and some of the item but it just didn't give me that feeling I once have before in chapter 1. I was hoping that the Brute (or mech) would return for the last week of Fortnite OG so I enjoy it, at least one last time but didn't happen.
Why have the community been lashing out at Epic I mean I get it because we miss Donald Mustard even I do but the community haven't just been lashing out for this they have lashed out because of the Metaverse and other things
recently just quit fortnite and i don’t think ill ever comeback it’s not even fortnite anymore, just a straight shit stain of a terrible game with terrible new management
I'm heartbroken that epic left behind the soul of the game, the storyline, once he keft. All of that, to go nowhere. Epic, when I'm old enough, let me work as your storyline developer!
We miss you Donald Mustard ch3 s3 really wasn't bad and now that we heard that was Donald's last season that he worked on I appreciate ch3 s3 more the story of ch3 s3 actually was good infact all of Donald Mustard's story was really good we need Donald back there was a scrapped part or parts of the Fracture event that were probably the part or parts Donald Mustard created Donald should have stayed but I mean I get why he left he left because of the Metaverse even though Donald wanted new modes I'm pretty sure since he had an old picture or whatever where it had BR and the modes we have now I think and I'm pretty sure more modes we are getting in the future but I think Donald wanted to leave because Epic wanted their event team to work on the new modes and not live events or maybe less on live events
Yea but the community is upset right now because Donald mustard wanted a metaverse within battle royale but they made the battle royale part of the metaverse
The people that really play Fortnite for the LORE is really the minority of the community and the player base. The players that play Fortnite REALLY play it just for the experience. I played it back in 2020 and really gave up quickly due to Battle Royale, which wasn't really a genre that I followed - also because of the tricky Build Mechanics which was tricky to learn on a controller. I grew up with racing games instead of shooters. Shooters was really a recent thing... if you count recent as 2018 with Splatoon 2 and 2020 with Hitman 2. I clearly needed more practice and experience with other shooter games before Fortnite. I only started to pay serious attention to Fortnite and really gave it a go when they announced LEGO Fortnite, so yes... I joined in Chapter 5 Season 1 and still playing it often. My first season was mainly focused on Battle Royale due to its theming and to well "get good" at the game. I enjoyed it for a good while, but it became very much stale by the end of that season. Thankfully, that was when Lady Gaga was added to Fortnite due to one of its extra modes - Festival. I am a BIG fan of Lady Gaga and that was when I decided to switch my focus for Chapter 5 Season 2 to really focus on the new games they introduced with LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing and Fortnite Festival. I barely did ANY Battle Royales this season so far with only like the first week or so of the season being that. I got bored immediately, the map changes weren't appealing, the Greek Mythology theme was... fine but really interested in Cerberus and the new Lobby Tracks. Since I was already _burnt out_ from Battle Royale, I focused my attention on Festival and LEGO Fortnite for XP and I am enjoying it to the fullest extense with the new content. My skills with playing Festival with the controller has improved to the point that I can now do it on Hard and Expert more confidently compare to when I first started on Medium. I am enjoying it so much that I am happy to continue playing them often. The Avatar Event was not appealing to me at all, and I don't give a care about Korra. The Quest Rewards... I'm sort of tempted to get that style variant of Cerberus but I am not interested. Season 2 has been practically boring for me. I agree with the direction that Donald Mustard wanted the game to go with the whole Metaverse idea... and while yes he is a GREAT story writer, that writing really would transfer well into ANY specific genre that has a whole story narrative. Fortnite is a literal gamer's playground for gamers that wants to become game developers and share their experiences with other gamers. Fortnite was NEVER meant to be all Battle Royales, nor was it even the first game in this genre. They popularised it even though it was NEVER their initial game mode to begin with if you look back in its history. They literally made Battle Royale mainly because it was revolutionary for shooters + it was also a trend in 2017. You guys know that we are not in the 2010s anymore, we are in the 2020s. Change is a good thing... mostly good, but remember, Fortnite is a _Free To Play_ game and Epic needs to make money so that those devs can keep working on making content for the game... and you can't have a Metaverse without _user-generated content_ . Yeap! Fortnite is now currently looking to be a platform that is similar to Roblox, with a menu that will make TH-cam blush... with PLENTY of Icon Series emotes that are practically glorified dances off a platform that US will be banning - TikTok. I know this is going to sound very weird, but THIS is the direction that Fortnite is going through, and YOU guys have been clearly expecting it to happen. YOU buying cosmetics and participating in these events is what makes the game popular and is what making Epic money. YOU posting videos, clips and moments to others is what makes your game popular. Fortnite is NOT just another Battle Royale game, it is an experience that YOU as the player gets to make and what Epic is doing is really the best direction that they are going that will make YOU want to make those experiences and maps. YOU make Fortnite popular, YOU made creators make amazing creations and they're making money too! YOU are blinded by nostalgia. Fortnite was NEVER meant to be just a Battle Royale game, it is meant and is now practically a Sandbox. It is doing the thing that makes Minecraft popular where the updates ACTUALLY benefits the majority of the community. True, we had controversial changes to Lockers and Shops with varied mixed reactions, but if you look at Minecraft - we also had updates that were mixed. Just look at 1.19 - *The Wild Update* or what many called _"the update that wasn't wild enough"_ . Fortnite is doing the same thing as what Minecraft is doing where the _user-generated content_ is making them money + the sales of game purchases... or in this case with Fortnite, V-Bucks purchases. Does that content ruined the core survival or classic experience of Minecraft? Nope! It actually makes the game more popular, so much so that ANY spin-off they make is flopped mainly because creators have already made something like that in regular Minecraft. Fortnite's core mode of Battle Royale is still getting players, so you won't be missing much out if you don't play it for the LORE. Even at that, the story of Battle Royale is so expansive that a newcomer will probably need to read LOTS of books to really get the full grasps of the story. For a mode that really is just gun fighting on a massive map, you would definitely miss a lot of the small story details and wouldn't care much about it. To be fair, Chapter 5 Season 1's story is very underwhelming because of that goddamn banana character being rescued so easily. If you play Fortnite just for the story, you can still be invested in it - but do be aware that what you loved about the story initially with Donald Mustard is already retired and you are more in the minority of its player base. Even veterans now-a-days are actually burnt out from Battle Royales and are playing different games. If you play one game for a good long while, you'll eventually get to the point of burn out and not be motivated to play it until you have a break from it. This is why we have LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing and Festival... for players that wanna play with their favorite characters but under a new light that doesn't involve gun fights, as well as veterans who want a break from BR. Battle Royale is still going to be the most popular mode, but remember that this is NOT the mode that everyone will be playing. User-Generated Content is where most of the attention is going to these days, from Obby Maps, to Story Maps, to Simulators, to Racing Tracks, to Concerts, to Prop Hunts, to Platformers, to even Practice Maps, and to even AFK maps (yes I see you). And even if there isn't anything there that interests you, well - why not make your own maps with Creative and UEFN. Who knows, it might become the next big thing. We have grown as a community with plenty of discussions, fan drawings of characters, talking about datamining, sharing content with others, and even having our own GG Lockers. We as the community are thriving, even with the changes from Fortnite being just another Battle Royale to now being a Metaverse. We need to learn to respect the ones that are making the experiences as well as the developers making Fortnite... especially to Epic. Epic has provided us with resources to make our own experiences... without them, we wouldn't be talking about it today.
This is why I tend to stay far away from Twitter now and the community, the rampant negativity and doomer behavior is just unbearably annoying and made me start falling out of love with the game, as soon as I stopped reading and caring what other people thought I had fun again, life's too short to be constantly bitching about this stuff all the time
Epic's multibillion dollars do NOT solely come from Fortnite. They develop and buy other many other games. No one said Live events can't coexist with anything else. We don't know everything happening and Epic does not need to pander to every single person that has a voice. Squeaky wheel gets the oil type of situation... No. That doesn't necessarily happen in a multibillion dollar company... Some of, not sure if it was all of the people that got fired, were part of the marketing department, not the developing department. They said they were using the Creative community to market UEFN so they didn't need such a large marketing department anymore. Could they rehire, sure but maybe that's not what they think they need now. I personally wasn't too impressed with the Live events. I liked maybe one out of four I've been around for. I don't like Travis Scott, Ariana Grande or Marshmello. Again, squeaky wheel mentality. Some people liked it, some don't. Who is move vocal? Companies that survive have to pick and choose what to develop years ahead of time, not just what is happening at present day. If the majority of the player community doesn't like something, that could throw a wrench into future plans, then things have to change again and so on and so on. Were the Live events that effective? Did they bring in new players and they stayed or they came and left in a week. If they only stay short term, was that money spent on the collaboration worth it? If it's at a loss, why keep doing it? I haven't seen anyone reveal these numbers yet and I don't think anyone will see them anytime soon.
Embarrassing. All they do is whine about that's evolving in a good way. I really cannot see myself complain about a game that evolves in a good way. Everyone saying fortnite not the same....THATS THE WHOLE POINT😂😂😂. If people don't like the change then DONT PLAY IT. Smh this community is something
@brandoncarlton8469 i can see why too dont get me wrong but if the game stayed the same it was years ago, people would've complained then and that's facts. Some of these folks are REALLY blinded by nostalgia
That’s what I’m saying, I loved it because it was fun and I had a blast playing it. Not because that was the last season where Donald was actually given the chance to do what he wanted. People are so biased. Like I know this is disappointing and all but how does this change your opinion on a season that most people hate?
I wonder if we will ever see the Seven and Geno and TLR ever again we only saw Geno in Zero War comics and we also saw him die in both Collision because Gunnar was just a placeholder for Geno and then in the Zero War comics and Geno was rebuilding himself at the end of the Zero War comics and it said not the end most likely meaning that Geno wasn't over with and that there would be another Marvel comic series or another Marvel season the last Marvel season we had was ch2 s4 and now we are finally getting another Marvel season in ch5 s4 as the roadmap shows it and the roadmap seems to be real and I'm glad that the roadmap is true because I want another Marvel season and ch2 OG this year might be the final year of the storyline or maybe ch6 is the final chapter of the story or as we get more modes that would be the end of the story which I don't want the story to end I mean if the story ends Fortnite ends I think so the story most likely won't end which I'm glad that it won't end but I wanna see Geno again I wanna see the Seven again I wanna see TLR again
What I don't get is how people didn't see this coming. We knew Mustard was gone, we knew the story wasn't going anywhere. And we didn't need anyone to tell us that that lore and live events weren't a priority at Epic. Instead everyone clanged onto some sliver of hope that they had and are now yelling at Epic because their false reality wasn't true.
People also gotta realize that epic is not ea or Ubisoft although they own some other companies they are still small and can’t pour all their resources
Another Clen L today unfortunately. Also unrelated to the main point of the video but i hate the agreement of people saying to stop playing if you don't like the game not realizeing this game thrives off of FOMO.
Here’s my take on the Fortnite storyline,if you want the storyline so bad create your own game using Fortnite creative and make your own game with a storyline. How about that?😂
So italk talks constant trash on the game yet epic sends him stuff for free and now your trying to guilt trip people in to paying to help raise your kid when u spent most of the video down talking anyone with a negative attitude just because you wanna seem like the good guy in epics eyes .
I’m not the biggest fan of the metaverse idea but I’m still going to stay open minded and see how it goes. I’ve personally had a blast with festival so it’s not the worst thing in the world. 😂

The revisionist history on Vibin is wild.
Ive played fortnite since 2017 to now. Fortnite is evolving and im glad it is. I will miss the era of fortnite that i started that but thats okay because at the end of the day I've had a good time playing fortnite and will continue to 😂
Imagine if the black hole was for an entire month 💀
I'd play other games tbh 😂
Ok, at least fix my locker 😠
Donald mustard is an ICON. And I aspire to be like him
I bought Billy elish with your code.😊 Hope it helps. Also as much as I prefer the story the metaverse is the future and if you don't think so just look if you don't like it don't play it. #WCLEN and #WDONALDMUSTARD
Clen u keep cooking with these vids also have you seen the klarque Clint vid that mentioned u he called u a good friend of the channel congrats🎉
Yo Clen! I usually watch most of your videos, and I realised something… Your webcam is HUGE 😁😁
Great content btw!
Change is part of life. Maybe some of this player base complaining is just too young to know that. Really great video today Kyle!
"The metaverse is a loosely defined term referring to virtual worlds in which users represented by avatars interact, usually in 3D and usually focused on social and economic connection"
Sooo every live event, every concert, them adding proximity chat, ltms, little map events like joke nite or the kid lori and party royale, and every creative map or any time you squaded up with friends or randoms and talked to some one"
Its always been a metaverse
And your absolutly correct about the story line, there are characters who you talk to on the map now, and they explain the story line and no one cares lol they just wanna play the game after work with friends"
And just because epic is adding other game modes to the game does not mean battle royale will dissapper either ...
Look at save the world its still here and people still play it..
Thinking that epic focusing on other modes is going to take away from battle royale it won't.
Thats like saying if a steak house and vegan restraunt were beside eachother that one would steal customers from the other lol
Yes, they both offer food, but too a different customer...
So even tho no one really plays rocket racing its clearly making $$$$
Lego fortnite i played it for a bit, realized it was very repetitive, and stopped playing... I think its great they added the mode for younger players, lego fans or people who enjoy survival games...
I havent spent a dime on lego, or racing mode... or fortnite festival... i have played them for the free rewards i wanted to earn....
I kinda want the billie elish skin tho so gonna get it will plug code clen too to help a family man out 😁
People need to realize people wont buy things they dont want, or play things they dont want to play.... if a person comes to fortnite for lego and spends money on the game helps keep fortnite alive, they may dislike playing battle royale but they are still part of the fortnite community/ecosystem/metaverse.
Great video btw 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Sorry for such a long response, alot of people seen the word metaverse and just freaked out over it for no reason imo ...
Yea but people hate change like they changed movement at the beginning of chapter 5, removing rarities a few weeks ago and these new modes I am indifferent about any of these things but the community hated them
@@bombingame6587 I hated these things at first but realized over time that they never ruined the game for me nor made it any more difficult
@@bombingame6587 I honestly didn't care for the movement since I technically was playing C5S1 full time so I really didn't notice a difference
@@Volt_Fortnite
You very clearly aren’t as passionate about the game as a lot of people are.
Why can't they just end the story or just basically cut off all the characters of the story so then nobody would care
They did, during Chapter 3 season 4. It ended abruptly because Donald wasn’t doing it.
17:00 yeah, didn’t this happen back in season X? Everyone was complaining about the map and wanted a new one?
And then the exact opposite happened in Chapter 2 Season 1
Exactly
@@PleasantPark-StarrySuburbs I thought it happened a few seasons later?
Either way, yeah…
Why have the community been lashing out at Epic I mean I get it because we miss Donald Mustard even I do but the community haven't just been lashing out for this they have lashed out because of the Metaverse and other things
recently just quit fortnite and i don’t think ill ever comeback it’s not even fortnite anymore, just a straight shit stain of a terrible game with terrible new management
I'm heartbroken that epic left behind the soul of the game, the storyline, once he keft. All of that, to go nowhere. Epic, when I'm old enough, let me work as your storyline developer!
Please shut the hell up go complain like a little bitch elsewhere

It's, just a game it's Epics game, they can do whatever they want with it, the community should learn to appreciate more
Yea but the community is upset right now because Donald mustard wanted a metaverse within battle royale but they made the battle royale part of the metaverse
i hope epic changes and stops caring so much about money
They need money to run Fortnite
I loved vibin regardless of the hate (I kept telling yall )😭🙏🏽🔥
This was probably a very well thought out comment but I ain’t reading allat. My man wrote an entire book. 😭🙏
You just wrote an entire book😭
There is no game like Fortnite
The only game mode I'm playing is festival nothing else fuck BR respectfully
What is this community lately lol
Embarrassing. All they do is whine about that's evolving in a good way. I really cannot see myself complain about a game that evolves in a good way. Everyone saying fortnite not the same....THATS THE WHOLE POINT😂😂😂. If people don't like the change then DONT PLAY IT. Smh this community is something
@@kovu9523 I get why people don't like the game evolving into the metaverse but this is just too much complaining.
