      I did manage to punch my way into a dirt hillside and figure out where 'down' was to start a tiny fire, which promptly then set myself on fire as I built it below me. I survived, but felt foolish for not having backup light

    The effort it takes to create something like a pickaxe, simple in other games, makes this game really interesting. The journey no the destination etc

    I like how this person is transparent about the use of creative mode and shows the scope of use, it's very nice and refreshing and feels good, unlike certain other youtubers who cheat off camera and the viewers are left uneasy at the inconsistencies.
    I've stopped watching certain playthroughs due to strong inconsistencies like that, whereas seeing this person cheat on camera and show us what they used it for and the full scope of it has just further reinforced my interest in this playthrough, I'm invested c:

    For a newbie I see you have read ( and I am impressed with your retention of it! ) a lot of the in game progression help and guides. I am not sure if you are using the official wiki but it has even more helpful information then is available in game. Pretty sure that pantries can be up to 7x7x7. I can not stand panning at all except for the bony soil which can give you lots of good items. 👍

    You should focus a lot more then on building a house even if it’s just made of dirt, otherwise winter will surprise you. Daylight will shorten a lot towards winter and you might freeze to death or from boredom. With drifters stuck outside your house nearly all winter long and not much to do (snow covers everything so you can harder forage, no plants to grow and only tools to craft). Having the basics ( room for cooking and smithing, one for sleeping and temporal storms and some room of storing wood etc) and enough food is all you will focus on soon! Windows help safety wise as well as you need less light for more space :) room heating is difficult and I would advise reading the wiki or forum for tipps otherwise you may die too many unnecessary times

      Just a heads up I am not looking for tips in the comments, I am playing at my own speed and ask for no backseating ( written up in the description and said aloud in the outros ). While I am new to the game in my own test world I've survived winters already, have domesticated animals, a distillery, helvehammers and iron anvils, multiple windmills, etc. I am new, not ignorant and therefore you can safe yourself the effort from letting me know the basics in the comments.

    Doesn't speed up the panning speed exactly, but if you open your inventory and move it to the side, with a bit of the water and the gravel you are trying to pan both on screen then you're character wont move back & forth with your mouse. Just saves a little bit of movement time. Can also do the same while knapping to stop yourself moving around.

    Is it possible to farm the mushrooms you find as an early food source? I know in MC you can just plonk em in a dark room and they slowly multiply but idk how this game handles them. Probably wouldn't be that simple if you can farm them in this.

    Just found out about TFC then about Vintage Craft soon after. Just watched the 1st and 2nd episodes and plan to watch the rest. Definitely wanna get this game and play it with the GF, I always found I progressed on MC fast and got bored quite quickly (played MC for years). How long this game takes to do the basics, is so engaging for me. I look forward to seeing how far you can progress in this game, will you get to diamond tools? Idk 😅

    vintage story cheater edition for finding a spot to set down. I think it's the charm of finding somewhere after walking that's a huge charm of this.

    • @Rhadamant
      @Rhadamant  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Ehhh not so much cheater edition as I didn't really scout out any natural resources and ended up with no additional map knowledge other than 'mountain has a flat top' which is pretty unimportant. I agree that finding a base location is part of the charm, I just wagered that the majority of viewers wouldn't want me wandering the countryside for an hour trying to scout them out.
