Fiiiiinaly. Someone made video about this topic. Just to add from my perspective, u could of add that students must apply in the end of month so the SU is accepted and valid from new month when student works. Cannot apply for SU and try to get paid for months when SU wasn't valid yet. Regarding the working hour, and this info is 100% correct. Student must work every week and keep up at least approximately with the hours. Otherwise office stuff will say that since you were not working frequently, you r not allowed to have or keep the SU. And you will have to pay it back, even several months. I used to work 90 hours a month, so when i unfortunately did only 23, i never got informed that i will loose it. Most likely coz i was so consistent with hight hours. My advise for next videos: How to split correctly taxes on SU and work income depending on where u get more money. As well to count how many times student went to job or jobs in a calendar year because in the end of December, student can enter home address and job address with number of travels on SKAT website (find correct name and number) and get paid for it. Student can get pretty good money. But NO cheating. Insights into Holiday money, why companies keep part of our salary, that it is 2 or 8% and how to get it when we want during year. What document we must fill out and where we write what. My experience with SU physical offices or SU and SKAT call, is that information given is often not reliable. Therefore I advice to contact them several times. You will see how their answers change. Gotta be a detective. Great topic is how to get a job without Yellow card and what it is +doctors. And what would of be super beneficial for me is car info. How to apply for permit which cost 400dkk, benefits and negatives or other option that took me days and weeks to learn is to basically bring foreign vehicle and change plate numbers into DK. Its quite tricky and messy process. So guys, if u wanna get details for video specifically about vehicles, contact me. I will tell u how it is step by step. Lastly, when student gets a fine from police man and its higher than 500dkk, u must call one number for police and inform them that u r student and they will always lover the fine on 500dkk. 😉 sorry for such long message
Hello ! Are the money that I received from SU controlled by the state on what I use them to buy, or not ? For an example if I pay my rent and I have some extra money from SU, can I use them on everything I want or just on some specific things ? (groceries,…) Thank you !
Great video! I'am a little bit confused about what type of work or job I need to have in order to apply for SU? It has to be only a qualified job or for example working in a bar or doing Wolt its enough for the goverment of Denmark? Thanks in advance!
Dante Melli hey, it really comes down to how the contract looks like. You need to be employee (Wolt won’t work) which means that employer pays taxes from your salary, pays your holiday money, pays your pensions etc. ... working in bar is fine. If you want you can also be self employed but for that you need to have a valid business model and generate around 10.000dkk a month
Hey nice video! When receiving SU via the status as a worker rule do you know if the maximum amount that you can earn from your job is calculated on a monthly basis or a yearly basis? On the SU website they say that the monthly allowance is 13,542kr but that this should be used to calculate your annual allowance. I have worked a little more this month and am in danger of exceeding the 13,542kr limit for this month but if it is calculated on a yearly basis, (13,542kr x 12months) I should be fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Hey, as far as I know, it is calculated per year basis. I don't think they have an efficient way of checking it on monthly basis. The only thing they can check is your yearly tax statement so you should be fine
How easy is to come all by myself without knowing anyone, without danish language for studies? Also, does people on public sector speak English? Thank you
Hi! I have a question: i will be studying for two years in denmark. Suppose i apply for SU and they grant it because I am working that 10/12 hours per week. What if I get fired or I resign from a job while i am still studying and receivlng SU. Will i get in trouble for that? Even if I use that lapse of unemployed to look for a job?
In case you lose your job, you might get into trouble. They will check to see if you worked every month the average amount of hours and in some extreme cases, they demand the SU back for all subsequent months, even though in the second month you manage to find work again. It's better to always have some fallback option like Vikar or Wolt so that you can make your hours.
Hey, I have a question, what if I have a company established in the country where I was born and still want to get SU by working 10/12 hours a week? What requirements do I have to meet?
One question! Do you have to open a danish bank account in order to receive payment from SU or from a company? If so, how easy/difficult is it to open one as an eu citizen? Love your videos! Many thanks!
Hey Alfredo, it's quiet simple. If you're looking to make one, follow this blog www.studentsurvivalguide.dk/posts/working-in-denmark-before-university-starts
Hello. Must the contract be based in Denmark for being able to apply for the SU as an international student? am asking this since I might have the opportunity to get a contract in my home country. Thanks in advanced!
Great question, from what I remember about the rules, the company needs to be having a presence in Denmark and it needs to pay taxes in Denmark in order for you to get SU
I'm applying for PhD scholarship but part of the programme puts the candidate to rely on the SU vouchers and the other half is sponsored by the faculty. I dont check any of the conditions you listed for me to be considered to have "equal rights with the Danes" are there any exceptions where I could use the university's approval to bypass this and still get the vouchers? Or am I doomed?
I don’t like the word ‘doomed’ but if you are not from the EU then you likely have to figure out an alternative way. Consider asking your university councilor about this, perhaps they have the power to grant exceptions. Otherwise as far as I can tell, you get fairly good salary as a PhD student so it could be enough to get by for a while
@@StudentSurvivalGuide Thank you, I've emailed them about any exceptions and awaiting a response. I shall give an update here in case anyone else with a similar situation needs info 😁
I applied for university since I couldn't get my school details and couldn't fill verification form they rejected my application. I'm just stuck what to do now. They say gymnasium is imp 😒
That's a good que. I have few hopes left. I have to find a way to do gymnasium here which is 11th grade and 12th grade but its not avaible in English language otherwise can do it in Danish but I don't know fluent Danish. I struggle to learn the new language.

I was born in Denmark and left the age of two and I’m considering on doing university in Denmark. Can I get SU?
I have come across a lot of student positions that are 15-20h. Is there a problem in working more than 12h per week?
Hey Maria, it is not a problem, as long as you don't make more than 13.000 a month before taxes from that work. Otherwise it's all right :)

I am kinda confused, so I need 43 hours per month or 10-12 hours per week ?
We are too. It's safest to have 10-12 per week, as you are not breaking any rules by that

Any ideea where exactly do you apply for the SU holiday that you mention in case you do not make the hours? The link in the description is broken.

What is the maximum amount of money one can earn after taxes without SU?
That is very individual as after taxes means that there are taxes involved, which people get different % on. But I think it's around 8k after taxes
Can you get the SU if you study an Academy Professions (AP) Degree of 120 ECTS? Or you can just apply if you study a bachelor?
Yes you can! :)
