Hope you made it through that cold snap without to many problems, if there’s a weak link anywhere on the farm -25 will show you right where it is! And just how many there are! Thanks for sharing your work day ! Come on spring time! 🌱 ☀️
Yakee that's cold. Been pretty cold here in Ohio single digits last week, and windy up to 60mph, warmed a bit this week ranging 10 to 15°F. Interesting history about the tractor. Be safe and try to stay warm. Thanks for the video.
Interesting to see that as the senior executive (Boss) of the very large enterprise, you still keep a very 'hands-on' approach, to on site operations. Is that your Dutch heritage, or just your management approach/training?
Moo Cow inner dialogue "OH, these pens are MOOOOVELOUS !!" Well, I think your cold is colder than I've ever seen before. We had (-45c) on the Prairies these past few days. In Montreal we are sitting at a Balmy (-11c) at 11:37am. When is the Great Bedaf Hockey Challenge?? Stay Warm out there !!!
Work on this tough condition is pretty rough.i work pipeline western canada i did work in field dairy is tough but -55 below zero is insane.equipment start go haywire left and right.i hope learning for your crew.thanks video expose real world food supply chain.😮
A Dutch family moved to our community and built for cows with completely open sides 😱 Curious as you are, visited them and wondered if they had thought about Swedish winter. Well they said, we have winter in the Netherlands too.... They have had their fair share of problems but they are very hardworking people. You can't say anything about that.
It sure was cold!!🥶🥶 It’s difficult choring any kind of animal when it gets so unreal cold! You will find the weakest link in your barn when we get temps like that, sure hope it does not come back as that was brutal!
@@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 Ya You got that right! I have Family in Northern Alberta with temps of -65 c plus the windchill!! Dang that would be cold!!🥶🥶🥶
We use sand as bedding for the cows. The sand is very comfortable, it doesn't hold bacteria, and we are able to re-use it by separating it from the manure. The basic idea of the separator is that sand is heavier than manure, so it settles out of the manure. I have made a video on how the system works in the past.
Why don't you put a few rolls of hay down, is it because of the cost factor or some other reason????🤠👍......Oh yeah, I'm learning a lot....keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sand has many advantages, it's very comfortable for the cows, it doesn't hold bacteria so it's good for udder health and it provides extra traction for the cows. It can be a pain to deal with in the manure, but we feel it's the best option for the cows.
Groetjes
@@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047 Echt indrukwekkend Piet hoe jullie bedrijfsevolutie is gegaan. 2 keer alles achterlaten om de droom te verwezenlijken. Sterke koppen op die bedafjes. Je woonde vroeger op 20 min van mijn boerderij. Groetjes en succes
Really that's not very much eh and they say dariy farms are the top income producing farms I wish they would actually pay them more I mean they work hard they supply milk to everyone it' goes for any farmer like here in canada this carbon tax like it isn't fair to the farmers like government has no idea I grew up on a farm and worked in dariy its not easy work but once a farmer alwyss a farmer we love the country and farming
We had wind chill 1987 -25 Cambridge frost two foot In the ground like sharp sand for bedding use hover Tanker suck sand out beds Once month clean cows Happy cows so one wheel borrow load a cow
And there will still be an idiot somewhere that will tell you your cows should be outside 🤣
This show has been quite an education. Thank you. Greetings from southwest Georgia! 🇺🇸 👍☕

It definitely puts extra stress on things!

Stay safe and keep warm as things always choose the colder months to go wrong .
I admire you, you keep on top of things and do a great job. Keep up the good work and stay warm.
Nice looking cows. I can see they are well cared for.
Thank you!

It's not something you want to work in for several days in a row.

It helps a lot to be setup to handle cold Temps. It's not fun dealing with problems in the cold!

Wow!
As soon as I heard it I knew it was a 400. I have a 409 as well.
Have you had to buy new sand since installing that manure separation system? Or just reclaiming old sand?
Yes, we will add new sand a couple of times throughout the year. We're reclaiming about 98 to 99% of the sand.
I’m a dairy farmer in Washington state, I’ve hunted pheasants in north and South Dakota but never your area. Are there any birds up there?
It can vary in our area, I can't say I've seen many pheasants this fall/ winter.
Cold cold weather is so much fun 🤮🤮🤮
A few days are okay, but a week of sub 0 F Temps gets old quickly.
How do you cope with those temptures..we have mild winters in ireland in general but it's-1 to - 3 at moment and we thinks it's cold.....
It gets challenging when it's a week straight of sub 0 F Temps but a few days at a time are manageable.
Sam sure can backup well.
-55 °F are -48 °C, that's f... cold! Here in Germany at the moment between - 7 and +1 °C.
How old is the Favorit an how many motor hours?
Sorry, I mean Farmer, 409 are a Farmer-series.
It's a 2001 model, it has around 12,000 hours on it.
You talkd about sand, whats it for, for the manure&urine? How does the separator work? Its certainly a diffrnt operation than what I've watched thnks

Are you wondering about the feed we are feeding to our cows?
No, I mean putting dirt on the ground as opposed to putting hay on the ground. I was just wondering why? @@pietvanbedaf-nddairyfarmer9047
Where are you guys since it's -55? Good luck thanks
East central North Dakota.
Hello, why do you use sand for bedding, what is its advantage?

Would it help to winterise the insides if the doors by spraying a light oil to the back and joints of the big doors before winter
The hinges and wheels have oil on them, but they still seem to get covered in frost.

Why did u have to go to the Netherlands to buy a tractor? Don't they make tractors in the USA?
They used to farm in the Netherlands, they bought it then and hauled it here when they moved.
We're originally from the Netherlands and took some equipment with us when we moved.
Starting to see them red and green tractors around Central Nebraska. Must be dependable
We've had good luck with them. They're very user-friendly once you know how everything works.
