Statistics prove that otherwise with Tesla being in the top 10 for highest selling cars in 2023. People want EVs, they just don't want to pay 40k for a car when you can get a nice sedan from Toyota/Honda with equal amount of features for 20-30k.
The email also said that April 14 was the last day of work. There will be no more work at Tesla between April 15 and June 14 for the laid-off employee. There may be some kind of severance package or something, but no more hourly work.

I work at the Fremont factory. Most of the people at our plant. Most of the people that were layed off were people with write ups, points and HR complaints. Yes some with no issues were layed off but most of those have HR issues.
Maybe you could argue that you're layoff would involve exactly 10.01% and so your job could be saved as it was unnecessary to cut you. It's just a rounding error. I would love to see the algorithm they used just to make the decision who to terminate. It was probably based on some flow chart and the costs associated with your specific diamond on that chart. Death my flow chart. That's the worst.
