Half of the company that helped develop this was founded in my town which was the Erie stream engine company...I learned something new about a part of my city thanks to this video.. Would be a cool rescue!

Tag lines are used on clam buckets to keep them from twisting. That is a fairlead you looked at, the front drum pulls the drag bucket toward the crane to fill it, the rear drum is feathered to control depth of cut, both lines pull against the bucket to lift it from the cut. I own 2 Bucyrus Erie 22B series cranes and operate cranes and other heavy equipment for a living. That is a fine specimen, probably a waukesha engine, and yes, that crane could be operational with enough sweat dripped on it.....

One of my Friday evening treats, Todd's latest post - always nice to see what's sitting forgotten in the Great North. The thing that perplexes me, is that he never gets surprised by a hornet or wasp nest. Here in Northern NJ they are everywhere - just got nailed by a few in my old John Deere 310 backhoe boom.

Yup, West 12th Street, aka, West Lake Rd. Just east of Greengarden. I still remember the excavator they had outside the West end of the plant. I've driven past the building for the past 30 years. Isnt it PSB now?

Come to think 0f it, we had a 20 ton P&H truck mount and the crane had a Waukesha that looked just like that. The American had a flat head Ford 6 industrial.

Still has it's counter weight. Usually those parts are the first to get scrapped, because of heavy metal weight. Next comes the tracks, then the gears and drums. Could be resurrected. Maybe?

If somebody was REALLY serious they could drop a 4-71 in there and with 25 gallons of penetrating oil. might just have a working rig.I herded them with Cummins, GM/Detroit and 318 Cat pony motor starter and a UD 14 (I think) twin stack IH power. You push the levers to work the clutches though. And a 30-B with a drop ball. Tough old rigs and like you said, you could get anything for them. I ran them with clam and drag bucket and the thing on the front was a fairlead. The tagline was on the boom to keep a clam from turning around. It took me a while to even think what it was called. GOOD find, Pal!
