Cement making process. I don't owe any copyrights for this video. I just uploaded it because there was no good video about cement making process at that time.
The Cement comprises of a clinker phase which is tricaclium aluminate. Herein, the reaction is ridiculously exothermic and fast, causing a phenomenon known as “ flash set”. The Gypsum ( a form of calcium sulphate) reActs with the tricalcium aluminate to form an ‘aft’ ettringite which induces an artificial “ induction period” which lets it set slower
I'm modeling a cement plant in HO scale for my layout. This video has been very informative, and awsome shots of the structures and machines that are involved in the process.
It amazes me how so many people confuse cement as concrete. Although cement is only one of the basic ingredients of concrete. The other ingredient is Aggregates such as crushed small pieces of rock along with sand.
hopkins731shawn from what I've been watching on youtube, they take the limestone and bake it, so it turns into quicklime. They then add water to quicklime so it becomes a slurry. You can then add some sand to that and pretty much that's it (i think). Other stuff are added if you want a stronger cement.
Although the Greeks first looked at lime-pozzolanic pastes, the Romans worked out that the abundant supply of aluminosilicate rich, acidic pozzolanic volcanic ash in the vicinity of Rome could be added to Calcium hydroxide (free lime and water). The resultant, simple acid-base reaction created a cementitious hydraulic binder (something that can set and bind aggregates in the presence of water). This gave the Romans an engineering advantage. The beauty of this is that it evolved from the specific geology of the Mediterranean region, itself being a place rich in marine sediments (limestone) but also volcanically active
+RO M Ya, thats a good alternative as well In ReadyMix Concrete Trucks, when the Truck is stuck in Traffic, the driver is advised to add a bottle of Soft Drink. It does the same work. It doesnt allow the Concrete to harden
Abdulhusain Dohadwala gypsum just slows down the process ,sugar on the other hand prevents it. Sugar is bad for cement. It molecularly keeps the fingers from binding
There's a difference between concrete and cement. Concrete is used to make buildings and roads. Cement is what your feet wind up in if you cross The Mob!
They used hydraulic cement, just like we use today. They took lime, heated it in an a kiln to make cement, then mixed in "pozzolana" (volcanic ash). The volcanic ash contains high amounts of alumina and silica, making their cement hydraulic (able to harden under water).
Yea Roman cement was one of the best, if not the best. It was made from a volcanic ash and didn't have to go through the complex process we see here as the ash has already been heated.
@basebull im sorry, you left this comment imreplying to, in the how to make cenment,,,,,i wanted to ask what test you'd be taking , and for what??? thanks pal
i'm very curious of how people cope with the smell of cement powder... do anyone like the smell like i do? or can it be addicted if you keep inhaling it? and what are the danger of it if keep inhaling the smell? can someone please give me feedback on this.
This truly is an on lookers view of whats actually going on at a cement plant lol. They only got a little bit of info and ran with it 🤣🤣. There are literally 50 steps that they missed or more...
Many of yhe components we see now were not added originally. The basic cement was more simpler and thru trial of errors and success, we got the current cement. Many products are produced like that. That is why after certain period (some are after a few months), a new uograded product is realized. You can use this same process for prescribed medicine. But; because of the many side effects of drugs produced by pharmaceutical companies, now we have a trial that doctors now offer people within the last stage of fatal diseases, some in the beginning of stages, products that need people to take it and study the side effects on them so the majority of us who buy the prescribed drug, won't have to suffer a lot of side effects or almost to none.....a lot of trials to be able to get the right measurements.
As with any recipe, it was first discovered in its most basic form, then over time had more steps and variations added to the process as others studied and modified, tweeked, improved, diversified, and made more efficient.
Well very few places I know have concrete roads. Back when I lived in Houston Texas, there was concrete roads because it's white. Sun rays bounce off the white and only the white rays are absorbed. And using concrete as roads, is way to expensive it's like 150 USD a yard. It's easier to have gravel and tar roads (tar is the aftermarket stuff after making fuel). And I don't remember that price.
what did he said..., it is also an ingredients of the mortar than men used to labor.....stone are there somebody who can help me to translate it in right way
Can you make cement from poop . Once I got a DVD from the library that said ancient Greeks would mix poop with clay to make pottery? I have a hard time believing that.
Joshua Lee dung has been used as a fibrous binding agent in some applications, but it serves a different purpose than cement. dung is like the "rebar" in concrete foundations. cement is what hardens the mix together as one solid rock
Video like these may have secured me a superb job in a cement plant. A little research goes a long way and i made the 2nd interview stage
Finally gypsum is added to control the instant reaction of cement with water. Cool

The music is so vintage
This video is great. Thanks!
Excellent.. Loved this piece of inormation

thanks .. just found the answer to my project here ;)
Thank you for the video
thank you for uploading the video

I would have been so lost without the steel ball demonstration at the end...the balls move up and down, up and down.....wow....
i love cement :D
Right??
Thank you Sir❤
@supdaman23 some dangers are the particles stay in your lung ( if small enough), lost of smell, and/ or nosebleeds(alot)
Factorio \o/
It is very interesting and one learns how cement is made
yup the blog was right this DOES look like a factorio contraption :D
coool i never knew it
Cool. 😎
This seems extremely complex, how did the ancient Romans and Egyptians do it? I'm sure they didn't go through all of these steps..

I spent a whole fucking day at a cement plant with university and learn nothing. Whereas this video showed me everything in 5 minutes. Great vid
THE CEMENT MILLS ARE CALLED BALL MILLS..... BECAUSE THEY CONTAIN BALLS
We have a couple of vertical mills that have grinding tables in them. They are much more efficient but they are a lot more temperamental
Now I'm ready to go take my test XD
Nice
wow so those are pretty hard stuff to get especially if it has to be pure.
How do they make the How its Made show?
Thank you for the video... Looks like the loader and mining truck aren't produced by Caterpillar.
I started coughing from dust inhalation just by watching this
LMAO
Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Where does Gypsum come from? Do you have to buy it from travelling Gypsies??
I am new here and i completely vedio cement factory
To prevent flash setting we add gypsun
How about adding sugar %3 or less it prevents flash set also
+RO M
Ya, thats a good alternative as well

LOL, Actually both are concrete, cement is what you make concrete with plus other aggregates...
The Race-E-Oh varies.
@nitz47
Add some gymsum in order to lower the speed of hydration of Tricalcium aluminate(C3A).
informative
did they use cement back in roman times to build all them monuments? cuz I thought making cement was easy...

@@TemplarX2 wow, thanks for this explanation
Wow
waachaa!!
what song tho
i now very well cement
Not shown all process of cement making.
what an old school plant 50 ton trucks and they have to be 20 years old my plant runs 100 ton trucks
@basebull im sorry, you left this comment imreplying to, in the how to make cenment,,,,,i wanted to ask what test you'd be taking , and for what???

this music slaps
absolutely, found this after months of searching and hundreds of "How it's Made" videos.

Do they turn on music while processing too..... just kidding
15yrs and still making sense
4:09 that piece of klinkher was rouge!
They never saw it again.
i didn't understand any sh*t after 3:00
What the???

first cement
THE BALLS!
an example of Ciment process
It's 4 sand, 4 gravel and a dye.
Place water to harden...
i mixed concrete today n wondered how they make cement

not an element, Lime is a term for any compound containing Calcium.
Usually its Calcium oxide or Calcium hydroxide.
AHAHAA DA BALLS!!!
0:14 ice cream
man uhave issues
I was questioning the video lol
That's so complicated. How did anyone figure all this out?

No wonder third world countries don't have paved roads everywhere, making concrete is one complex process.
Cobra, You replied to a comment that is three years old....
Dezzar, you replied to a comment that is four weeks old....
lol based upon your spelling and grammar, you have clearly not made it past the 3rd grade.

This is actually very good video but I don't understand.
there is Windows Codenamed Cement Pilot Operating System, Ripped from How is Made
and this was invented in 1817 how? Lol
You underestimate the human mind 😌😌
Cement was originally develepoed to bond and harden under water
lime is an element?
@804186443 - I was taking a Concrete Construction Materials course, part of a Civil Engineering curriculum. This video was helpful for the first test.
Th prout can no bull the foot, ya man.

In my whole life, i thought cement was made from a grinded stones mixed with some chems.
Yes, that's exactly what they showed here. It's made from lime stone.
