This song is like distant memories or feelings from the past that are indescribable to anyone but yourself. Or bittersweet like the last day of school, happy that it's summer but knowing you may not see some of these people ever again
Beyond perfect! Every facet of Bathory's work is pionieristic and unique! Somehow there's a "spirit" - how to describe it? - "hovering" over this song (but also "over" The Lake, A fine Day to Die etc) that gives it a feeling of "high" lore, sublimity and dream. Just to be clearer, I can "find" the same "spirit" only in some of the work of Burzum (Filosofem), Primordial (To the nameless dead, Spirit the Earth Aflame, The Gathering Wilderness, Journey's End), Drudkh and few others! Same thing when you read Lord Dunsany or Arthur Machen....
There are dozens of bands (whole genres!) and authors (books etc) that "work" with similar themes and what not, that are impeccable and creative (sometimes!)....but "nothing" is there! Not in the way I meant it, at least! There's no..."flame"?! Like watching fake gladiators posing for tourists at the Colosseum! lol
