- The brilliant blooms of Azaleas, with their large jewel-like flower trusses, add interest and pizzazz to NE Ohio gardens in the spring. Even though they are generally easy to care for, they do require a bit of maintenance to keep them at their prime.
For additional planting tips, be sure to check out our Rhododendron and Azalea planting and root wash videos linked below.

Great information!! Just got my first rhododendron and azalea and I’m binge watching! Thank you 😊
Very informative video. Thank you.

I had an emergency pruning on mine where the deer eat the new growth off. I had to get the scuffed areas off to prevent dying away. I noticed the older plants they won't bother.
Great info but I was hoping it would answer my issue, which is: today is Tuesday. I just bought an azalea at the local grocery store. How do I keep it alive and looking gorgeous until Friday when I’m giving it away? Does it need watering? Full sunlight or partial? I just need it to live for 4 more days.
I have two azaleas under a window that I want to transplant to the sides where I used to have junipers. So each will be moving about 2 to 3 feet and further apart. I live in hot, humid Oklahoma, 7b. Do you recommend doing this in the fall…..like October, or spring after the blooms have fallen? Thanks so much for your videos and advice
My Azaleas are drying out. I trimmed it but it’s not coming up. It’s getting brown but some leaves are coming up. I am very sad.
Is there any green left when you prune the flowers? This is why I'm hesitant to prune.
same!! not many leaves
I have 2 azelas in small pots. The pink flowers are turning brown. What should I do?
Take a picture. Blooms don't last that long
I would wait until the flowers are completely brown and then Prune them off
Save the seeds
If you really don't want to hurt bees, do not use any chemical product, EVER.
