  • The perfect motorcycle for adventure is a bit of a unicorn, but i honestly wonder if it's been under our noses for the last 7 years or so. The CRF250L and CRF 250 Rally motorcycles have some perfect qualities for adventure. Cheap, reliable and flexible in use...Just ask Itchy boots or Austin Vince.
In this vid, we try to convince you that the CRF 250 Rally ad L are the perfect motorcycle for adventure...i'm sure the argument will be settled after this video! (as if...)

Great video again Mark. I almost sold my CRF250 Rally recently for reasons I won't bore you with. Suffice to say I still have it and I'm glad that I do. This video is a reminder to the likes of me and hopefully an eye-opener to others that the CRF250's really do make for awesome ADV bikes. Genuine real-world usability for anyone looking for a fun, cheap, reliable and rugged bike. I think your bike might just be a little more powerful than mine looking at those stickers :). Keep up the great work!

No bike is 'the perfect adventure bike'. That said, the CRF250L comes really close in my opinion. It does it all, gets you where you want without too much hassle and fuel and does not cost you your back when you need to pick it up a lot of times on long runs. Sold my big adv bike (on which I had a lot of adventures before) and never looked back. Note; I did upgrade the saddle and springs for comfort. Thanks for another awesome vid!

@@lightweightadv everything is just a bit better but because everything is a bit better it makes the bike feel a whole lot better. Suspension is still soft but not as soft as mine plus it has a bit more travel and when you add them both together it make the suspension soooo much better, engine has a bit more power plus the heating is shorter in the first few gears, add these together and the bike feels way more powerful…….. it’s the same everywhere with the bike, the frame seems thinner and makes the bike feel more nimble and therefore the bike feels a lot lighter, it’s kinda hard to explain really. I would not advise trying one as you might feel as I do and wish you had hung on and bought the 300 🙂

I just 'upgraded' from the 250 Rally to the 300 Rally. For the most part, yes, it is better. Torque especially. But it's more buzzy and less smooth than the 250. You can also tell the fuelling is leaner, for emissions I guess. To be honest, if I could wind the clock back I think I would have been happy to stay with my 250. If you're in the same boat, I'd suggest running both for a time before selling the 250. ;-)

Got myself a 250 Rally last week and already in love. Surprised how good it was off road but even more surprised at how nice it was to ride 100 miles home, down motorway and over Woodhead pass in the peaks. Will cruise at 70 all day long just as happily as it chugged around an abandoned quarry.

Coming from a 525EXC I was at first hugely disappointed, but then it clicked - you ride this bike to make you feel good, not to win races. It's truly a perfect bike - built to last and designed to make you feel like an adventure god, even if you're pootling down a muddy path. I've done a ton of miles on my '17 Rally along the Dutch TET and not once has it let me down, held me back or failed to deliver a massive smile. And you rightly point out, modding it is part of the overall ownership experience (afterall, you never see a stock Defender). I've changed almost everything you've mentioned to very similar spec to the bike in your vid. You even helped me on the clutch replacement and to be fair, that's the best mod I've done - the bike is WAY better now. Keep posting the great videos.
