This version captures the vibe of the uk one so much better than the us version! It’s like the American one tried to polish it too much but the chaos here is perfect
Not only that but they cast the absolute worst ppl for it. Rather than throwing all the money into production they could of kept it low budget and got some actual big names. Imagine nick Kroll and John mulany. They just didn't have the chemistry in the US one.
Polish it? No. Nothing polished at all. The only redeeming qualities were our precious Little Alex Horne coming on (sorry Alex for what you’ve been through here) and Freddie Highmore having a blast doing tasks. I’d love to see a redo of US Taskmaster with a more homey feel and nicer cast members. The whole thing about the UK version that I love is the relationship between each of the contestants and the hosts. They’re all able to just have a good time, do a bit of ribbing, and enjoy the tasks because they’re all just fun games. The US version made me uncomfy.
Just youtube Taskmaster NZ and you will get all the episodes. I have just finished episodes 7 on series 2. I have to wait until next week for the next one

There was an American remake which had Alex Horne as the assistant, but it failed pretty hard. Mainly because a poor choice of contestants (except Freddie Highmore) and because they repeatedly alot of tasks from the original, unlike the New Zealand version which had to create new tasks as part of the contract.
There are also Danish and Spanish ones and some others, but definitely watch the Norwegian one. It's right up there with the British and New Zealand ones.
0:05 i always thought of this trick on the UK version when the tasks messages finishes with "your time starts now" i would always stop when it said "your time" then do 90% of the task and say "starts now"
There have been a couple of people who didn’t read the last part and alex prompted them so I’m not sure what would happen if you just refused? But also they could then claim that you didn’t do the task “within the time” which they would absolutely be petty enough to do if you tried to be clever
You get prompted to read it and aren't allowed to start before. Though Joe Lycett beat that by guessing what the task would be before even touching the task envelope.

Nope. This one works for me. The US remake failed because they 1. Kept Alex but not Greg meaning the dynamic was off from the start. 2. Reused a bunch of UK tasks. 3. Had shorter episodes. 4. Had a very poor lineup of contestants. Especially Lisa Lampanelli who spent most of her time swearing at Alex for no reason. All of these are remedied in the NZ version. They replaced both Alex and Greg, so both have a new dynamic. Their contract made them create new tasks which made the show much more interesting to watch. Pretty sure they kept the episodes the same length, meaning the contestants had time to interact and bounce off each other in the studio segments. And all the comedies are really funny. I can see some finding Guy a bit much, but they're all unique and approach tasks in fun ways.
Their Alex Horne equivalent has exactly the right energy

I also think that Reggie Watts was a terrible choice for the Taskmaster. Maybe someone like Conan O'Brien or Craig Ferguson could've done it.
