Rom took the series from 0-100 terrifyingly quickly. He really threw himself body and soul into some of these

For those impressed with Rhod's blinking task, don't forget the Norwegian Taskmaster contestant who didn't blink for about 2 and a half hours, resulting in the camera crew having to give him his own little GoPro to continue documenting it as it went past the allocated filming time.

For the don't blink challenge, close your eyes before the challenge starts. Can't blink if your eyes are closed.

I know I'm a terrible person for it, but I've seen that poor woman fall off that stage a dozen times at least and it only gets funnier.
Honestly, I’m not that amazed, but I grew up with a very clumsy sister who has fallen up the stairs and down the stairs (in the same day) who was fine. I honestly don’t get worried unless someone is walking weird, has lost consciousness, or is holding their arm/wrist weird, but that’s due, again, to growing up with a sister falling off things and being clumsy all the time (and if your interested, she does insist that the ground just really wants a hug).
Romesh coming in and then just chucking the watermelon on the floor remains a show highlight.
Jessica’s tumble is another utterly unforgettable moment. Honestly shocked that she didn’t injure herself.
Love that you can see Rhod laughing as he knows whats happened from the sound
Love that Alex referred to the runway as "the Knappett" in the last series (11).

very true! but i see rhod gilbert's 7 minutes and I raise you: the ylvis brothers on series 1 of kongen befaler (taskmaster norway)
one of them got second place at 38 minutes and stopped only because he had to go get his kids, and the other won because he clocked in somewhere around 3 hours

@@jojoyear i honestly don't know what it takes to run a TH-cam channel or to put these clip-show videos together, but I would imagine one full-time employee working 40 hours a week could do it all will time left over.

More than anything, this reminds me how much i wanted a scripted series with Jessica Knappett and James Acaster as adult siblings who still behave like kids and who had to move back in together and figure out their zany lifes.
That would be so perfect!

Excellent comment, but it's on 420 likes so I can't give it a thumbs-up.
After all these years the show still peaked in the very first task when Romash ran into the room and spiked a watermelon on the ground like a maniac. So many great moments since then, but that just wrecked me the first time I watched it.
not a peak, but what an unbelievably high starting point. As soon as he did that I was permanently hooked.
@@kcolloran Yeah "peak" isn't exactly accurate since that implies a drop off, but that is still probably my favorite moment.
I dunno Bob Mortimer screaming "I have sinned, I'm a sinner" while Alex eats his face is a high point
Greg’s face after Jess fell off the “Knappett” shows that’s he’s genuinely a good man. He’s lovely.
If you've seen him in other shows he is like a care bear. He can act tough and scary but really cares about others.
He really is perfect for being the Taskmaster. It's like he was made in a lab for this show so he could be the perfect balance of big and menacing and cutting and hilarious, while also being a big teddy bear who is caring and sincere.

I was actually at the recording for this and Knappett appeared to be in quite a lot of pain, the show was put on hold for like 15-20 mins, Greg was so lovely, and ran over the second she fell of the stage and was so supportive towards her (as were all of the other participants)

Yeah, that would be too on the nose as foretelling if this was fiction, but it being real is incredible.
Sally Phillips' "3 food task" still makes my jaw drop! Balancing the bar, eating the stick (whatever that was), then the one-and-done Jell-o bucket drop was just legendary. And Romesh power slamming that watermelon onto the floor still makes me laugh my ass off.

The fact that Jessica took longer than 9.58 seconds to even get to the point where she fell off just adds to the hilarity.
Alice saying "I have to make a really quick phone call" when she gets called out makes laugh every single time
That "no blinking" task had another highlight of Alex saying they could've just kept their eyes shut for however long and that wouldn't have been blinking and then everyone reacting to that.

the fact that Romesh was not in this compilation not once nor twice but 3 TIMES shows how he's not just built different but an entirely different species
also I can't believe Katherine's "make a mess" task isn't here, that one was a golden egg

I think Romesh and Josh's commitment is a huge part of taskmasters overall success. If S1 was just comedians half-heartedly phoning it in the show would have been dead ages ago.
It also helped that none of her family members believed a word she said. I imagine they have a text chain warning each other to be careful every time Katherine goes on a panel show 😆

The Sally Philips task was really impressive

I just realized in rewatching this task via this compilation that it just says "1 item" and they probably could have balanced the wheatabix for the allotted time and then taken it off the pole and also throw it.

You've missed a trick here! One of the things that makes Jessica christening the Knappett so legendary is that Kerry Godliman foreshadowed it by asking, "what if one of us falls off the stage?"
The only downside with this channel is the audio isn't normalized between clips.
I love that when Jess has a little incident(no spoilers), we actually get to see a caring side to Greg😂😂

Lot of freakishly tall guys in the British comedy scene. They could form their own basketball team. Only problem is they’re all really uncoordinated...
seeing the older clips makes me miss seeing the reactions of the other contestants as the clip plays

The format when the participants sat closely to each other during the live show encourage them to interract with each other more than the pandemic format. Lots of exchanges on banters between themselves and Greg and Alex. Missing it a lot.

They can't stop the restriction without approval, and especially for a TV show, they will want to keep the example for the population at large.

It’s unfortunate that Kerry’s walk is so overshadowed by Jess’s fall. As much as I enjoy the fall, I think Kerry’s walk immediately after just took an already funny moment to the next level.

Putting the Knappett at the end is like the cherry on top.
They should have used the Norwegian version of the don't blink task. The winner of that task just decided not to blink, and held his eyes open for 4 hours, even leaving the house to pick up his daughter and go home. It was genuinely frightening.
If you watch closely at 8:00 you see the exact moment Sally Phillips became a TM icon
I heard “fill this cup up with as many tears” and immediately thought “Would I be able to get away with arguing that the paper says ‘tears’ as in pronounced the same way as ‘tares’ and just tear a piece of paper a bunch of times into the cup?”
Sally Philips should have had more clips, like covering Alex with food and filming his birth

Just noticed that at 2:02 his foot is on the red. Should have had a Joe Wilkinson potato moment.
I think the difference is that the ball left his hand before he touched it. He had to throw from behind, but they didn't care other than that.
@@flame_star1 yep in cricket that would be a legal delivery. Fast bowlers routinely end up well down the wicket after releasing but so long as their 'plant' foot is behind the line they are fine

I've been familiar with this show for a few years and have watched clips of it here and there. What I've just noticed, as a musician, is the interesting use of hammered dulcimer for the intro/transition music. Nice choice for a unique sound that people will associate with this show.

Sound engineer: There’s a little button in the software called “normalization”.
I'm going to be pedantic here and point out that all normalisation does is set the maximum level of a file to 0dBFS. Compression or level-matching is what's needed here, in order to match the perceived loudness of each clip.
