    Shredder built, tested, and ready to go. It works exceptionally well, getting down to over 90% tiny beads. Luckily, there's three places near me that are being built with big walk in coolers, and the sheer amount of styro waste from those 4x8x8" thick panels they use that I've fished out of their dumpsters has given me a massive amount to stock to work with.

    • @johnadams3800

      Question... seeing as I'm starting to grind up the styro and make a metric shit ton ahead of time, is it optimal to get the material down to the smallest pieces possible, in preparation for building with your upcoming new formulas and methods?

    • @johnadams3800
      @johnadams3800 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      By the way, for what it's worth, I've found that a wire grid (½") bakers rack cut to size works really well to posistion at the exit chute to moderate the shred size. I didn't find any adhesive up to task in securing it, so I used small L brackets and screws to fasten at a couple key points and it's working quite well so far.

    I think you should start with bags of your premix, whether it be structural or stucco. Then the diy public at large can do a lot of the experimenting. I have a shed project I am starting and if I could purchase premixed bags of the stuff I'd have a use for it.. But gathering up the styrofoam and shredding it to its perfect size, etc. all that is very demanding in time and effort.

    • @AbundanceBuild
      @AbundanceBuild  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@frankhoffman3566 We have considered that and the only hang up would be the distribution challenges. Shipping cement bags, even if a fraction of the weight could make it too expensive. We will be sure to explore the possibility fully and let you know through the channel if it is possible!

    One issue is that local zoning and inspection are often uncooperative or hostile toward self-builders, especially self-builders with non-conforming ideas. The same can be true for appraisers, lenders, and insurance providers. Construction practices have become highly regulated and uniform, regulators like it that way.

Would your system be strong enough to build a gothic arch building with 5m (15ft i believe) radius UNFRAMED (just the masonry mixture cast into forms and built with, like medieval masters built with stone)? Im planning 60cm thick arch walls (~2.5ft).

    We just got a 40 ft shipping container on our property to covert into a tiny house and live in before we build the main home. Do you think abundacrete would be useful in a container conversion? Maybe as insulation or walls? It is recommended to go spray foam to prevent any condensation issues that are common with containers. Thanks for the input.

    • @AbundanceBuild
      @AbundanceBuild  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You could use it to insulate if you build a mold to pour into. It does stick well to metal. But our method is cheaper and performs better than containers so maybe use the container for storage and start fresh with our method 😁

    This is like the "next level" from the last time I checked your channel. I have an old question, in your estimation could a conventional rotary concrete mixer do the job of mixing styrocrete or does it have to be a fixed tub-like mixer with rotary blades like you have? Because I already have a big tumble mixer and all I'd need to do to explore styrocrete would be the styrofom shredder, the cheapest part of the two.

I'm looking to do metal arches to make the dome similar to your wood arches but with less of an arch point at the top.

    • @AbundanceBuild

      With our method you can definitely build a flat roof building. We have built several shapes and found the arched A-frame to be the simplest to build. The single arch geometry is easy to replicate. Because the roof is in compression, the building is stronger and performs much better in weather and earthquakes. Also it looks cool! Ultimately, we want everyone to build whatever suits them, so we make it cost effective to do it!
