Decades ago Cathay Pacific ran direct UK-HK direct flights by Boeing 747, 18 hours a journey with 3 meals. Now it's about 12-13 hours with 2 meals. People always complain about flight meals, but, what can you expect for reheat meals? I think Cathay Pacific Economy Class's meals are okay. During the climax of the pandemic while almost all flights were grounded, it's catering service took delivery lunch orders in Tung Chung, the town right next to the HK airport, for HKD40-50 (GBP1 is approximately HKD10, so that's about GBP4-5). I vaguely recalled that it was July 2020. Months before, there had been 1st April joke that Cathay Pacific was gonna running meal delivery service and Cathay Pacific swiftly denied, but its management probably got inspired how to maintain its catering capacity without too much redundancy. Years ago I watched a documentary of interviews on Cathay Pacific Catering's chefs, recalled the hardship in the 2003 SARS. If they were still working during these years, this would be the second time they faced hardship, even more in depth this time. I don't mean to be pessimistic because I want to feel the advantages from order to prosperity, but seems Hong Kong air transport volume hasn't recovered to the prepandemic level yet. Add Oil (Hong Kong Style English, meaning working hard for an objective), Hong Kongers! Glory days will be back to Hong Kong! Cathay Pacific Catering supplied more than half of the flight meals for flights taking off in the HK airport. So if you are taking a flight from HK, very probably you would be having meals supplied by Cathay Pacific even if you are not flying with Cathay Pacific flight. Cathay Pacific meals back then were well received by Tung Chung residents, which isn't surprising to me. After all those were flight meals without reheating.
with no meal u mean... I was sitting in the very last row..and did not even get a meal.... i was told I would get 1st choice for BREAKFAST... thank you very much!!!
