Great video, love the use of fast forwarding at the appropriate times. I fly between Australia and the US regularly on Qantas. There's definitely a tracking map in the IFE, and with the A380, there's even a external camera view from the vertical stabiliser.
Glad you like the fast forwarding feature :) Yeah on that particular flight, it was really strange, absolutely no moving map at all. I searched through and through and also no external camera. However, 2 weeks ago, I flew back to the US on Qantas on the 380's and this time, there was a moving map and the external cam. I don't know why the flight last year didn't have that feature. Very weird.
Nice trip report. The A380 is a fabulous plane to fly in. Nice to see Qantas bring them back. I've never sat in the lower deck on an A380 so this is good to see.
Thanks Jeff for watching! Indeed the A380 is a great plane to fly on. I've only flown the A380 twice, the other time on Singapore and both times I never been on the upper deck before so hopefully one day I can get a seat up there.
Thanks for sharing, I still haven't flown the A380 but I really need to! The food looked really good and I also hate when they forget to dim the cabin lights at night!
Thanks for watching! Not dimming the lights was real frustrating and I suspect that it’s done on purpose. On my previous flights with Qantas before, the lights were on as well during takeoff.
welcome to Australia! Re- cabin lights, Australia's CASA and US' FAA have very different regulations. CASA requires all safety equipments (including exit signs and even seatbelts) to be visible during takeoff and landing so you'll really need a bright cabin to meet their requirement. For US carriers, FAA requires everything to be pitch dark, and the signs should be switched off even. But then CASA requires window blinds to be up, FAA don't :)
Fantastic video like always! I am studying to become a pilot but I’m only 14 so I’m learning about it so I’ll be ready for all the tests I may be flying to honk Kong next year!
it's a good suggestion. However, the problem with the A380 windows is that the distance between the inner and outer window is quite thick and so even with any hood, there'll be reflection. It's virtually unavoidable on the A380's.
Calling a Qantas plane "Reginald Ansett" strikes me as peculiar, given that the Australian airline called Ansett, with no ties to Qantas, collapsed in the early 2000's. And Reggie was an American.
Just a few seats up in 80K, is tons of leg room; row 79 is only two seats and not blocking K. I paid a little extra for that seat, but it was totally worth it. You can see it at 2:02
No pompous talking, no silly music - highly appreciated!
Thank you so much for watching and for your support!
New subscriber to your awesome channel, what a total awesome Qantas flight review., love the A380✈
Damn Qantas never let's their landings down!

Wow that landing!! Kudos to the pilot 👏🏻
10:23-11:17 that’s the smoothest a380 landing🛬 i ever seen & heard from the inside 🧈🧈🧈🧈
nice👍 vid aswell
Indeed it was a smooth landing! Thanks for watching!
Had a lot of questions about in flight amenities thank you!
Hope my report helped!
@@BayAreaTraveler very helpful thank you!

@BayAreaTraveler Asiana has economy seats in the upper deck. And it's 2-4-2. I don't know if other airlines have something similar.
Nice report, that landing was very smooth.
Thanks for watching! Agree it was a smooth landing.
First Time I Was A Passenger On Wide Body Aircraft Was On Qantas B747-400 From London To Melbourne In 1998.Great Trip Report
Thank you for your comment and watching! Miss the 747 :'(
Great video! I’m flying on a Qantas A380 in Economy from LAX to MEL in a couple months, so it’s good to see what to expect!
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video! Have a great trip!

Very nice trip report. It is a good time to depart from LAX provided you get some sleep. The food looked really good.
Thanks, glad you like the report. It was certainly a good flight.
Tasty looking food! Great footage!
Thanks mate!
welcome to Australia!

Oh I didn't realize that. Thank you Jayden for the explanation! 😃

You can get a clip on lens hood for your phone that will get rid of most of the reflections if you hold it against the window.

What ocean did you go over?
very cool!
Thanks Jovanny!
It is 14 hours in plane?🤔
@@neptunoazul6876 Yes, flight time of around 14 hrs
Odd that they left cabin lights on for taxi and takeoff. Still a great video and helpful
Thanks for watching! Another TH-camr commented that Australia regulations require lights to be on during taxi and takeoff which I find so odd.
I believe that is due to extra visibility ? That’s what I’ve heard anyway.
Could you show some information about the flight, duration, map, distances, nothing??
Thank you for the feedback, will do so for future trips. The only “map” is the one early in the video. There was no moving map on the IFE :(
@@BayAreaTraveler I thought that the IFE always showed flight information on all A380s
@@CarlosMartinez-is1xz Unfortunately and much to my surprise, the IFE didn't have the moving map at all. I was completely shocked actually.
@6:12 is Qantas Hangar to the left
Yes possibly the Qantas hanger
Is there a foot rest on economy seats?
No foot rests unfortunately
Calling a Qantas plane "Reginald Ansett" strikes me as peculiar, given that the Australian airline called Ansett, with no ties to Qantas, collapsed in the early 2000's. And Reggie was an American.
Interesting, I didn't realize that, thank you for that bit of history!
Actually Reggie was an Australian.
Also, Ansett Airlines was a competitor to Qantas.
Reginald Ansett was Australian, born in Inglewood, Victoria, Australia. His son Bob I believe was American though.
Video shorten the flight distance time from hrs to mins.
that would have been a 15 hour video😅😅😅 I just came back from Sydney, I also left from lax to syd via aa73
Crappy legroom but a nice recline on these seats
The recline was quite a surprise and much to my delight! It made for a restful flight.
