    Clarence, I thought of a couple things for you to check as someone who is interested in the rehab of strength athletes.
    -Hip Internal Rotation mobility
    -Hip Stability (Weighted Single Leg RDLs and Unassisted Hip Airplanes)
    -Hip Flexion, Adduction and Abduction strength aswell as Hip External rotation strength

    I understand that Clarence is an elite weightlifter and everything, but I hope he starts taking some "active rest" periods where he incorporates more PT movements/routines to help mitigate or resolve his hip issue (unless he's already done a bunch of those).

    Ahhh gym noises. An art in and of itself. There is the classic snake which sounds like “tssssss……tsssssssss”. You have the heavy breath out of course but then there is Clarence. I have dubbed it “the elephant”. It sounds similar to an elephant in heat but slightly angry as well. What noise do you make?

    I totally screwed my back up trying as hard as I could to extend my thorasic spine during the squat once. Slight "crunch" and that was it couldn't walk upright for days

      Yep. I think the best advice for a squat and most lifts really, is just to try to keep it clean, make sure you feel comfortable, and lift smart not egotistical. All of this "back straight, hips here, knees here etc etc" just doesn't work and only passes down form between different body structures which will just increase risk for injury. Sure, teach some fundamentals, but don't lecture.

    Why is Clarence not taking an approach like John Haack for exemple ? Squat twice a week and focus on not killing yourself on every single session. His hips would feel better and he probably would be stronger too no ?

      That would be sick. Squat Uni is one of the only channels I can think of off the top of my head that puts out quality instructional videos of that style. Personal trainers are a dime a dozen but they all parrot the same shit and have no literal body of evidence to show for it. SU has countless athletes he has helped. Myself included. Completely got rid of my Patella tendinitis

    Pause at exactly 7:48. Clarence knee seem to track slightly inside the middle of the foot. He might benefit from a slightly more feet forward position. Or not. I'm no expert. Just pointed it out. 🙂 Oh! They literally adress that right after. Lol. I should have waited.

    Correct me if I’m wrong didn’t Rob Adell squat 270kg and clean 200kg+ multiple times he was a beast, he was built similar to the Fridge. The first wave of avg bros was crazy back then along with Clarence it was like some iron mind type shit. Clarence is still a fucking machine after all these brutal lifts damn.

      I don't think there's an obvious or sudden technique change indicating an imminent injury. Look at old videos, his squats have had an element of good morning type movement for years as well as a little knee cave (not that it really matters). Look at his 265kg for 10 rep max vid, there's a little bit of hinging and knee cave happening from early in the set

      Your glutes aren't strong enough or activating I think. Also single leg stability exercises will help.

    Do you guys think Clarence could be a stronger weightlifter if he squatted with better positioning? I've seen you comment on his back angle out of the hole and it not being super specific to the lifts but he seems to not be affected by that.

    It is of my opinion that if Clarence got his quads a little stronger relative to his hips/back it may clear up some of his hip pain over time. If you notice when he ascended in the squat his hips raise a little fast out of the hole and he kinda good mornings the top portion of the concentric.

      I’m sure a lifter of his caliber and experience isn’t just squatting that way because of weak quads dude. If a few extra sets of leg extensions a week would clear his issues, then we wouldn’t need professional coaches for our Olympic WL athletes

      Gurph and daire both said for him to keep more toes forward. Cause he has em out like 45degs and goodmornings out of the hole. I think clarence is just squatting the way he always has and what feels natural to him, which granted has gotten him crazy numbers, but if it comes with pain maybe he should try to tweak. I started squtting like gurph with toed forward as possible before i even heard of sikastan after watching kelly starett and although it felt weird af initially after my mobility got where it needs to be my squat was wayyyy better after. Caveat is im built like monkey with short legs and long torso and arms so maybe im just suited for that.

    would you say the way Clarence squats is the reason he has hip pain ? Im starting to have some hip pain too and i only do atg squat ..maybe thats why

      Knee pops, happens, its fine if there's no pain just keep an eye on it

      Gas bubbles build up in synovial fluid in joints & pops with quick movements, like the other fella commented said no biggie
