Gary and Roy need to learn to accept that the United they played for doesn't exist anymore. Just like the Liverpool that Souness and Hansen played for no longer existed when Fergie's United were ruling the Premier League along with Wenger's Arsenal. We are in the City era now.

    • @vkdeen7570

the reason it's hard to accept is because it's been artificially dismantled by the glazers... and artificially doped by the sheik in city's favour... this not a natural cycle where 1 team aged and fell off and another came up with brilliant coaching through a youth team.. this has been fixed
this is one team being robbed and pillaged and dismantled and the other team cheating it's way forward through financial doping

Yeah and as a United fan though I've come to learn that it wasn't Manchester United I was supporting, I'm not from Manchester and have no stake in the community there, I was supporting that attitude, that style, that ethos of hard work and never say die, that never give up outlook.
It's dead and gone, and so I'm left watching the Beckham documentary lamenting the days when Man United were Man United.

Those were, tough times being a red but you have to go through that to reach the summit. Yeah Pool v United fixtures in the early half of the 90s were a thrill to watch but MY GOD they were nerve wracking games for us cos we REALLY didn't want to lose games to those lot. It meant the world to us and more, to beat them in the league even in the EPL era when we'd fallen from our perch and began to realise Sir Alex's MUFC had replaced us as top dogs of England. To this day I still don't know which signing was the worst: Souness signing Paul Stewart, Hodgson signing Christian Poulsen (Konchesky was pretty pants too now that I remember..) or Rodgers signing Mario Balotelli. 😀

This is what I've been questioning recently about Erik Ten Hag's style of play. At Ajax, he had them playing beautiful football with positive results. I'm assuming that's why United hired him to replicate that style of play and achieve more given the financial resources at United. It's been 18 months and when you look at United, they're literally a far cry from the Ajax team that made a lot of noise back in 2019 in Europe.

not possible without the right players. Arsenal under Arteta for first two years were absolutely diabolical and disjointed. It took Arteta a while to sort out the personnel required to play that way.
Ten Hag has right figured out United can only do anything on the counter and is playing to that strength, it however looks quite ugly.

I know this will be controversial, but i think Dutch football has been overrated in the past decade. Look where Ajax are now in their league, they are teetering in the relegation zone.

I think the decision to get rid of Ragnick which was co-signed by Ten Haag was the first mistake from the manager because it ultimately showed that Ten Haag thought he could carry the club on his shoulders which he has now shown he cant. As a result he's gone on to buy a 90m winger in anthony only for bruno to play his position, and then has gone on to sign mount, only for bruno to play his decision.
So he's actually handicapped himself by bloating the squad with a lot of imbalance and average talent ID. The truth is he is not a world class manager who can lead like a klopp, pep, jose, emery. He's a coach that needs an operating system around him in order for him to be settled but he killed himself of that opportunity by not fighting for ralf and the glazers are at fault too.
United fans were to quick to call him elite based on his ajax days, when you really look at it, Ajax have a cultural system set where they produce talents developed in the cruyffian way of playing which allowed erik to add his style which is "transitional" to an already possession based squad which is why Ajax 18/19 were so dynamic and fun to watch

Think Evans is there for not much of a wage given that he was supposed to be 5th or 6th choice (and I can't think of a better 5th choice CB in the Premier League) and certainly wasn't supposed to be playing games like this, more like the Burnley game where to be honest he was MOTM and assisted superbly for the Man U goal. It's just cruelty to put a 35-year old who was very decent in his day out there against the likes of Haaland and Bernardo.

Sell? The Glazers gave him Evans, Eriksen, Reguilon, Amrabat, Weghorst, Sabitzer on free transfer loans. You think the problem is that Utd need to sell the players they just recently took on as free transfers? LOL

Oh yes, here is Carragher, who said, not so long ago, that Cristiano is the main problem, and blamed it all on him. Then there is Gary, who never said anything specific about the Glazers failures, until it started to be fashionable for him. Gary always does this: changes his opinions depending how the wind blows. Both these 'experts' blamed Ronaldo for various things, yet here we are, with the same awful, toxic and boring United. And the results are, in fact, way worse than they were with Cristiano. Ten Hag broke all the awful, negative records at United. He is bland, terrible coach. Every single thing Ronaldo said about this club in the famous interview is spot on, and comes more true every day. If anything, the media, pundits and some ex-teammates of Cristiano should beg for his forgivness! It's disgraceful how he was treated after all he has done for this club, and during period of time when he was still mourning his son, and his daughter was sick in the hospital.

This is actually a better team than what was around Ronaldo. Ronaldo scoring 20 goals changed their position in the league completely.

Gary’s right in my opinion, Man United are more popular brand than they are a football team. Every time them players get on the pitch they know if they put a foot wrong the whole internet is going to grill them; it definitely has a phycological knock on affect and you can see it from the performances.

The big problem is that they're still in denial about their status as a club. They're not who they were under Ferguson. As a Liverpool supporter, I think we're the only ones who can empathize with where Utd are now. We've been through it, from being on top to being also-rans. Its hard to take. We needed a generational manager like Klopp to pull us out of it, and we would have a lot more titles under our belt if it wasn't for the oil cheats. Utd will just have to deal with it until they can sort it out. What doesn't help is sitting around with the mentality of "We're Man Utd, how can we be this bad?". Accept where you are and work towards getting back to where you were. It could take almost thirty years.

I do not thing this has anything to do with Utd status. If it was not for oil money Utd would have won the title twice since Ferguson left. What klopp has done at Liverpool is nothing short of amazing. I do not think people fully understand how much damage has been done to football.

    • @carlkermode899
      @carlkermode899 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Art-is-craft I disagree. Also, saying that they would have won the league twice because they finished 2nd is is a bit of a stretch. Without oil money, lots of other results would have been different and going from 2nd to 1st would not be guaranteed. They're simply not the force they were under Ferguson. In living memory Utd have only been successful under two managers, Busby and Ferguson. Now they'll have to wait for the next one to come along.
