Ever notice--it seems to be a tradition with rock groups that the drummer dies first?

@@georgecundari2 The really great drummers - Ginger Baker, Keith Moon, Mick Fleetwood and Skip - burn more energy on stage than anyone else, so they burn out faster! Though Ginger lived much longer than I thought he would, Skip lived to 73 and Mick's still alive, so maybe I'm full of crap!

Thanks for the flashbacks! I picked up the Can You Feel It album at the Hickam base exchange when I was 11 or 12 years old. I rode my bicycle down with my babysitting money to buy that album. The radio station in downtown Honolulu played Pretty Lady a lot and I was just getting into music then listening on AM radio. It's still a favorite golden oldie! 💞🎶

This song came out when I was 11 and represents the general feel of music I listened to as an early teen. I have not heard Lighthouse in at least 10 years. This song brings me back a long way in time. I especially like this style of music as it is played "straight".... no fancy production tricks or effects. Just a solid band belting out a great tune....

How well a record does on the charts depends on what other records were also on the charts.
When Snuff Garrett was producing Gary Lewis and The Playboys, he made sure that no records by The Beatles were on the charts before releasing numerous hits.
That tactic worked, which is why we still remember such classis as This Diamond Ring, Sure Gonna Miss Her, Green Grass, Everybody Loves a Clown, and Jill.

I love the big sound generated from a horn section, which is perfectly melded with the guitar. Just cant sit down while this is on or long afterwards...... Thanks Mike

Love your bass voice introduction and zeal! This song one of my favorites! I was 12 years old. Would play this 45' over and over. Looked at the artwork on the album cover...looks like some subliminal images (the rockets look like penises). Also the opening pic cover looks demonic, a demon or wolf. Some Antonio Gaudi artist influence art nouveau. Nevertheless, this is a great song. Thanks for putting this together. Your posting is the best sounding. I even like the remake posted on youtube. A different lead singer but very good. God bless you :)

I think if Lighthouse had had the resources and a bank of hits like this one, they would have rivaled Chicago. Great sound. full, majestic, talent out the butt. Love'em!!

HOWARD SHORE on SAX??!!? Damn! Holy shit! Anchorage Alaska, 1971... I would've been 7 years old, pulling this off of the airwaves, recording it to reel-to-reel... amazed at the sounds. AM radio, no less. Only thought of looking it up now, 42 years later. I had no clue Howard Shore was in this band. One of the most accomplished sound artists out there. You learn something new every day.

Mike you did a great job pulling up the vocals that are buried in the original mix. I don't have your processing expertise. Sounds as good and clear as it will get!

thanks for posting this, Music Mike! I have the original LP, which as you mention you also posted that mix, which unfortunately has not made it to CD (only a cheezy, partially altered version has). This sounds better than mine too! better EQ!
