Laten we een fietstocht door het Vlaardingse stadscentrum maken. Dit centrum is aan de westkant van de Oude Haven gelegen en daar bevind zich tevens het grootste deel van de winkels. In een eerdere video van het stadscentrum fietsten we ook aan de oostkant van de Oude Haven. En nu dus de westkant.

De wijk Centrum van Vlaardingen omvat het oude centrum van de stad ten westen van de Oude Haven, de Indische Buurt, het oostelijke deel van de Vettenoordse polder en de buurt Hoogstad. De wijk wordt begrensd door de A20 in het noorden, de metrolijn Hoekse Lijn tussen Rotterdam en Hoek van Holland in het zuiden, de Oude Haven en de Vlaardingse Vaart in het oosten en de Marathonweg, de Marnixlaan en de Beethovensingel in het westen.
Het gebied rond de Oude Haven geldt als beschermd stadsgezicht. De belangrijkste bezienswaardigheden zijn de Markt met het oude stadhuis en de Grote Kerk, de Visbank en het Museum Vlaardingen. Rond het Liesveld ligt het winkelhart van de stad en aan de zuidzijde van het centrum ligt het station Vlaardingen Centrum. De Hoogstraat, die vanaf de Grote Kerk tot aan de Vlaardinger Driesluizen loopt, is een straat die al sinds de middeleeuwen de functie van winkelstraat had.

Let's take a bike ride through the Vlaardingen city center. This center is located on the west side of the 'Oude Haven' and is where most of the shops are located. In a monthly video of the city center we also cycle on the east side of the 'Oude Haven'. And now on the west side.

The Centrum van Vlaardingen district includes the old center of the city west of the Oude Haven, the Indische Buurt, the eastern part of the Vettenoordse polder and the Hoogstad neighborhood. The district is bordered by the A20 in the north, the metro line Hoekse Lijn between Rotterdam and Hoek van Holland in the south, the Oude Haven and the Vlaardingse Vaart in the east and the Marathonweg, Marnixlaan and Beethovensingel in the west.
The area around the 'Oude Haven' is a protected cityscape. The main attractions are the Markt with the old town hall and the Grote Kerk, the Visbank and the Vlaardingen Museum. The shopping heart of the city is located around the Liesveld and the Vlaardingen Centrum station is located on the south side of the center. The Hoogstraat, which runs from the Grote Kerk to the Vlaardinger Drieslokken, is a street that has served as a shopping street since the Middle Ages.

Nice, watching now. Please tell me this was not recorded yesterday. It was very rainy and dark when i was riding yesterday to make my last video. Also do you add all the street names by hand ?

No, the video was recorded on January 29, when it was a beautiful and quiet day. Yes, I enter the names of the streets by hand, but with a pre-made transition (also made in Adobe Premiere) and then follow the route together with Google Maps and fill in the names. But of course a lot of work anyway. It's easier to upload your video straight from the camera, but that's not my style.

@@ROTTERDAM-and-SURROUNDINGS Sorry i missed the data, yes that week was a lot nicer. I do agree adding street / location is nicer but a lot of work. I am trying to find a middle ground now by making software that can do it in the subtitles (could also burn them in the video i guess) and adding 'waypoints' by hand. The waypoints are still work but gives me the option to add the distance to each point. Fun to see several solutions to the same kind of problems.

I wonder if it makes sense to create a FB group for bicycle videos made in the netherlands so we can join up a little both for ourselves and people watching. I don't feel we want to make them all look the same thats no fun for us making them but i do feel it would be nice if we kind of have multiple cities and areas where people are making videos to link up and maybe point back to the FB group so people can also find other cities... bad idea?

No, that's not a bad idea, but I don't have Facebook or any of the other social media channels and I don't need them either... TH-cam is enough for me. I love the creative process of filming and creating the final result and it is of course nice when viewers appreciate it, I am not concerned with the number of viewers, but I do like it when they like my videos so that I know they are appreciated.🙂
