    This is one of the best technical reviews I have watched. Well done. Thanks.

    Hi there! I've been AFK on walkthrough video lately because I'm moving. I have to find a new place to live and work and it's taking longer than expected. I will be back with a tons of IN DEPTH videos, no worries ;)

    Wow, I just sat down and listened to your demo, and then I thought it would be cool to hear a comparison between studio and regular symphonic sstrings, and then I saw that you show exactly that, amazing. thank you!
    just wow, all mics, reverb! you've done it all xD

      Thank you for your comment! I got lazy but I must do all the other articulations someday haha

      @@manaberry I see, anyways, I like your approach. Do you have other libraries, brass or woodwind?

    • @manaberry

      @@artemi-music I have the whole Studio Orchestra Pro. And quite a lot of other libraries (Orchestral Tools, Performance Samples, etc)

      @@manaberry what are your thoughts on Studio brass and woodwinds vs other libraries?

    • @manaberry
      @manaberry  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@artemi-music For me, Studio brass is very nice for the short notes. Not all instrument are well recorded for the bones, tuba and cimbasso are cool. But I use them only to have some specific texture on the short notes. Usually I go with CSB.
      Woodwinds is the only Woodwinds library I have. Shorts are cool but the legato is just a huge piece of crap. I'm about to buy another Woodwinds library because I can get it doen with Studio Woodwinds. There is no runs patches, scales, etc.

    Tree microphones sound the best to start with then add others for blending. Close is nice on the celli

    Alors, en tant que néophyte je n'y comprends, rien. Mais c'est très agréable à écouter et voir les instru en séparées puis ensembles c'est bien pour comprendre l'orchestration d'une musique. Mais je ne peux pas en dire x)
    Bravo à toi ^^

    Interresting video. Did you EQ the Studio Strings ? Violins in Studio Strings really need EQ (probably more than the others strings). Comparing these strings to the Symphonic Strings without mixing them properly seems a bit unfair to me.

    • @manaberry
      @manaberry  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. There is no EQ. The goal here is to compare the sound straight out of the box.
      I get your point, but I don't agree with you,. Comparing without mixing process helps to decide which library you want to go for. (or even for layering) I really don't want to fool people's ear.
      Those are two very different product, and I don't want to get the same result with Studio Strings (If so, I would have used Abbeyroad-ish kind of reverb, not Todd-AO)
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

      @@manaberry yes, but out of the box, you could use the inner reverb and the close-far fader and you won't fool people's ear. With it. You can also use combination of different mics instead of only one mic at a time, or show the stereo mix presets (awesome in the woodwinds pro and the brass pro... that I own. I will upgrade to Pro strings in the very next days).
      The Studio strings (and Brass and Woodwinds) are dry samples or close to, because they were not recorded in the same hall as the Symphony Strings...
      From my point of view a good test would be to show how, with the Studio Strings, you can sound different, from a chamber orchestra to a lush impressive symphonic orchestra (as the symphonic Strings).
      Also, I'm pretty sure that there are no divisi in the Symphonic Strings (I don't own them but I do'nt see them in the user manual)
      I'm aware that you can't show every combination, that's why your test stays interesting, because it exists.
      et comme je suis pratiquement certain que tu es au moins francophone, si ce n'est français, je serais heureux d'échanger en direct avec toi, à propos de ce fantastique orchestre... ;-). Par mail direct si tu veux.

    No staccato in this library is that correct? Great video!

    • @manaberry
      @manaberry  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No staccato indeed. There are plenty of short notes and the time stretch can also help a bit to get what you want.

    • @cyrilcalmes4208
      @cyrilcalmes4208 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@manaberry In my opinion there's a better way to mimic staccato in this library. Since you can activate 2 articulations at the same time in the same patch, just load the Core technique patch and activate Spiccato and Spiccato Brushed. You then will have a slightly longuer note with a nice attack.
      You can also double the spiccato track with a Spiccato Brushed track and then you'll be able to fine tune the attack of the note vs the release.
