    This is great. The one detail that I felt should have been covered was the interaction of critical strike and critical chance. Critical strike is only relevant when critical chance occurs, so that stat is absolutely as important as critical strike.

    To counter the "must have vulnerable and crit in every build" effect, wish there were milestones for the individual "dmg vs" and "dmg while" damage types. For example, "dmg vs slowed" could apply an additional slow effect at 100%, a chance to disable movement at 150%, a chance to stun at 200%, etc.

    Crit Chance is just as important or crit damage doesn’t do much, I aim to have it at 30% minimum for most of my builds as triggers, though I’m sure some builds don’t need as much.. also.. is worth noting that is just as important to have some numbers (similar in total to the other buckets) on the additive bucket, or you would be wasting a whole multiplicative bucket. So it’s best to even them out I guess

    Also, it’s worth noting, in the case of channeling skills, such as Whirlwind… Close Damage is a snapshot modifier. You have to be “close” to the enemy before you start channeling the skill, otherwise, you do not gain damage from the modifier.
    Like the “Suppressor” aura, Whirlwind players have to enter the aura before channeling the skill to actually deal damage… because it snapshots. This is why I’d recommend Core Damage on any piece as opposed to Close.

      Snapshotting is super important to understand. If your damage gets snapshot before you CC someone, those CC perks aren't doing a damn thing. Same issue with bleeds and crits...you cant crit dots so all that crit is wasted if youre doing lots of dot damage. Good call out.

    Short version, focus on balancing the levels main stat, crit, vulnerable & one other bucket for highest DPS cause algebra.
    For barb core the mandatory 4th affix because of unbridled rage multiplier but otherwise results may vary.
    Im focusing on, crit, vunerable, strength and core. On the high end my WW crits hit for 2.5m but ive things to do.
    Also level your glyphs....under lvl 15 they are not worth it.

    Nice video, since the weapon is in a separate bucket, will the stat in the paragon such as increase slashing weapons dmg add to it? Isn’t it a better option to go for over dmg while berserking for over all dps increase?

    Core Dmg is additive. The Key Passive Unbridled Rage Is 135% multiplicative Dmg to Core Dmg. As a Barb the ideal main hand weapon is High Base Dmg (item power) // Core Dmg // Crit Dmg // Vulnerable Dmg // Main Stat (Str)

      Here's how I would outfit mine. All Stats > Vulnerable > crit damage > Core. We get crit damage implicit from swords so we want to get vuln first because of diminishing returns the higher our number for max value.

    So if you add a bucket to the other bucket you end up with a larger bucket, or maybe your just dumping your buckets into a pool creating a larger pool made for a larger bucket.
    In the end, have different coloured buckets.

    Quick question: so if I’m understanding correctly, I’m better off with a piece of gear that has vulnerable dmg and defensive stats, vs one that has vulnerable dmg and dmg to slow, stun, bleeding, etc.? (Just as an example)

      Depends on what is in the additive bucket.
      Early game the dmg ones are great but once you have filled buckets from paragon boards and glyphs the overall increase in damage becomes minimal.
      There may be exceptions for effects that apply to bosses and with some multipliers.

    Surely though that means that as long as you only have one affix per piece of gear stacking to the grouped bucket values that will actually be as beneficial as having a main stat, crit dmg and vuln dmg. Because by you own description you are filling up another bucket. Furthermore you wouldn't even need to be stacking just one of them, you could have them spread throughout multiple stats as long as they will be triggered. For instance, 10 pieces of gear adding a variety of stats with say 15% added each makes for a whole extra 150% bucket surely thats better than an inferior + all stats roll on each of them. Right? That simplifies it a bit because in reality you actually want crit chance etc. And that makes the gearing a bit tighter.

      The issue is you're already getting mountains of stats in that 'grouped bucket' from progress in Glyphs and Paragon Boards, rendering the marginal values available on gear (especially armor in comparison to defensive bonuses) extremely marginal due to diminishing returns.

    Probably should explain that crit damage is not as powerful point for point as Vulnerable damage, just because it's a function of crit chance %, so at 50% crit chance, every 2 crit damage is roughly worth 1 Vulnerable damage (give or take, I know there are probably multipliers behind the scenes for how powerfully each bucket is actually weighted, because people are still getting damage numbers that dont entirely make sense base on a 1.0 weighr for each bucket, but still)

    Once you have great gear pieces always 5/5 upgrades it's huge boost in stats and if it has a skill in it 5th upgrade will add a +1 to that skill ontop which adds more dps

      @TheIntellectualGamer basically the 5th upgrade you do has big improvements Inc any skill gets a +1 at 5/5 upgrades so further pushing your stats, say your piece has +3 posion trap at 5th upgrade it gets +4 trap skill each piece once 5 upgrades gets a boost

      I've only seen this happening on lower iLvl items. Not sure what the thresholds are, but higher iLvls seem to have higher potential bonus lvls.

    For your barb and your build, what would be the PERFECT rolls for each armor piece and each weapon? What affixes, what aspects, etc. So basically asking, what is your perfect max'd build? Just based on gear/weapons. Ignoring skill tree and paragon board for now.

      I think skill tree and paragon is important since you have to put legendry's on your gear which kind of ruins them if your skill tree/legendries is not the flavor of the month WW barb or HOTA. I guess you also mean ignoring legendries. Kind of sad that is the state of the game limiting builds and even alts, and on top of that no storage space. This game has some serious QoL problems at the core level. Its basically trying to get people to deal with power lvling boosts and paying (by having a huge exp grind with no epic bosses (compared to the few that exist and you do not play against anymore), and probably paying for storage in the future. Its turning into a p2w game for how important lvling speed is in a seasonal game is, and ofc storage is also important so you can actually play more than 1 character.
      They can easily fix these things if they want to. Yet to be seen how seasons is played out in d4, but not looking good. Also bad how this game expects you to use 3rd party websites to sell items, pay for power leveling, and probably even buy gold, without addressing these issues. Its an MMO 'lite' without a basic proper trade mechanic which their mobile version, Diablo immortal even has.

      Depends on what you are trying to do. If you want survivability for pushing nightmares, if you want to speed farm and shit on nightmares 3 levels above you, it all depends.

      DPS from weapon is the initial value that would multiply. Then damage buckets are core stat, crit strike, vulnerable, and all the additive ones listed in the video

    Any chance of doing a further video explaining how the x% multipliers apply.
    I can't be the only one who thought the aspect that give x35% to frozen etc. actually increases my damage by 35% for each effect that applied.
    Or that if you had +100 vulnerable damage, +20% and x20% would both increase my damage by 20%

    This system, if it's really like you say makes no sense. General dg shouldn't be multiplied just because critical strike or vulnerable is higher. Dmg should be based on primary attack stat then if a crit/vuln/close/far, etc triggers it gets a percentage boost

    I'm getting bored and I'm at level 52 . I have a feeling this gave was fun for a bit but I feel the Devs didn't really think of the late game/end game. I fell to understand why they don't add more unique combat mechanics/skills incrementally every 10levels or so after level 50-60?I mean I'm using basically the same combat skills there is no evolution of a particular build. This is something clearly out of lack of imagination for a proper progression. I feel the whole game is like that actually.

      Youre only lvl 52 lol. Thats nothing, youre not even in WT4. The game starts for real at lv 100 when you need to gear up and do crazy mechanics to not did. Or even pvp. And uber lilith boss. The fun with this game is to tune your character to be able to complete the content. You are max lvl 100. And the mosnter in Nightmare dungoen lvl 100 are level 150. Good luck with that

    Those states above the "line" are only counted if using the weapon. If not using one hander, u aren't getting that crit strike damage

      So I just tested this and mine applies to my character both below and above the weapon. On my one handed weapons that I’m not using they both seem to effect my stats, so I believe this is wrong

      I'm pretty sure all stats on every single weapon for your barb whether using that weapon or not adds to your overall stats. Every video I've seen like this they all say to use dual single handed swords because they automatically come with a CS damage, and it adds to your overall stats.

    Never really understood the whole "additive damage". I think you helped. So while vulnerable is its own "bucket" if I have a bunch of the crowd control and stunned enemies that's one bucket? So if I have Vul - 20 CC-20 stun-20 bleed 20 I'm getting 20 x 60 instead of a possible like 20x20x20x20? That about right?

      From what I understand that damage would only be when you have an enemy Vulnerable, CC'd, Stunned, and bleeding would you get that total max amount of damage.
      Vulnerable damage is extremely valuable because most enemies you can make vulnerable. There are a lot of enemies that can be immune to CC and Stuns. Which makes the potential damage less.

    I'm a little confused by the buckets. Are there 6 buckets? Main Stats, [X] Percent Damage, Attack Speed Bonus, Critical Strike, Additive Damage, and Vulnerable Damage. Is Overpower Damage also a bucket or is it part of Additive?

    the thing i'm still not sure of is the paragon damage increases. Do they use flat damage as baseline or current damage. For instance +20% berserking. Does it take your current berserking and does +20% or does it do +20% of flat damage (initial weapon damage) and adds 20 to the berserking bucket?

    You completely ignore the fact that the critical damage and vulnerable damage buckets only factor in on critical hits on vulnerable targets. Many builds don't have any ability to cause vulnerability, and many abilities have low critical strike chance. I run a summoner necromancer (without bone spear). Most of my attacks will get benefit from only one or neither of the buckets you are saying are so important. How often do these damage buckets even help, compared to the 100% of the time that the other buckets help?

      You want to invest in damage buckets you use very often. I didn’t explain the beginning portion becuase I think it’s without being said to do vulnerable damage you need to make damage vulnerable etc. hope that helps explain it

      You need to invest the time to create vulnerable enemies either through a modifier skill or with a teammate. Unfortunately it’s seems almost necessary for D4.

      Every single class has the ability to cause vulnerability damage through paragon board or abilities. I'm a barb I had to get it through a glyph in the paragon board.

    so say your slashing weapon shown, had only vuln dmg and no crit strike... then the same weapon drops that has the crit and vuln but the item power is lower and say dps is a -100 in comparison. Do you keep what you have or go for the lower dps weapon

    Me and my fiance play diablo 4 on ps4 and she is level 50 and I am level 48 but My gear makes my druid so squishy. We did the dungeon for when you complete the campaign and I died probably about 7 times. We stopped after that because we weren't having any fun. I don't know if I should replace the legendary gear with the rare ones that look like they would give me more damage and I will be able to stay alive longer through the dungeon and actually complete it. Its hard on veteran. I would love to play veteran and beat the game on veteran as well. I just need better gear and aspects and such. I am such a big dummy when it comes to math and shit for games. I don't deal with that shit at all. Wish there were videos out there on what rare gear for druids I should be using for my werewolve campanion build. If there is such a thing.

      Just learn which buckets are important to your build so you can focus on stacking those. Generally primary stat for your build, crit damage, vulnerable damage, and DPS on the weapon you are using!

    So are we suppose to have different states for different gear? With the main weapon being the biggest % like crit/vulnerable and have the the other gear with other states like CC?

    So im confused, is the mod "+X% Core skill damage" in his own separate bucket or does it fall in the same bucket as "Damage with vs close, Damage vs Slowed. etc"?

      Those are all in the same bucket, but having with core damage gives extra benefits in some cases to core skills vs. the others in that same bucket

      Premise :
      1. I have the Unbridled Rage passive which reads : "Core skills deals 135%[x] increased damage". From my understanding, it simply multiplies any damage dealt with a core skill by a 2.35 factor.
      2. I am using a core skill.
      3. My target is close to me.
      4. Let's say for the purpose of this example that I have +500% increased damage vs close targets.
      5. My base weapon damage is 1000.
      From my understanding it would give me
      1000 * 6 (from the +500% increased damage vs close targets) * 2.35 (from Unbridled Rage) = 14100 damage
      Now if I were to add another +100% damage vs close targets, it would give :
      1000 * 7 (from the +600% increased damage vs close targets) * 2.35 (from Unbridled Rage) = 16450 damage
      But if instead of having that +100% damage vs close targets, I had +100% Core skill damage. From my understanding it would net the same result :
      1000 * 7 (from the +500% increased damage vs close targets and +100% Core skill damage) * 2.35 (from Unbridled Rage) = 16450 damage
      Am I missing something about how Unbridled Rage interacts?
      1. Is it really just a plain 2.35 multiplier?
      1000 * 7 (from the +500% increased damage vs close targets and +100% Core skill damage) * 2.35 (from Unbridled Rage) = 16450 damage
      2. Or Does it only applies to the +X% Core skill damage modifiers?
      1000 * 8.35 (from the +500% increased damage vs close targets and +100% Core skill damage which becomes 235% due to unbridled rage) = 8350 damage
      3. Or does it kind of double dip and do both 1 and 2 at the same time?
      1000 * 8.35 (from the +500% increased damage vs close targets and +100% Core skill damage which becomes 235% due to unbridled rage) * 2.35 (from Unbridled Rage double dipping) = 19622 damage

    Doesn't Whirldwind use your highest dps weapon? In your case, the bludgeoning weapon not the slashing 2 hand weapon.

      You can set it to use whatever weapon you want, even the 1h ones

    I still don't get it 😵‍💫😅🤣 Im still confused. Can someone explain in a even more simple way? Do use gear with other states besides crit/vulnerable/overpower to get more powerful? I got confused because I see the lower % on the other buckets, is he saying make those lower numbers bigger also to get 700,000 damage vs 70,000?

    I have a Druid my primary attack (pulverize) effected by the weapon stats? Pulverize graphically doesn't use a weapon, just wondering.

      Pulverize also greatly benefits from Overpower damage. Reference the passive Druid skill called "Provocation".

    My barb has over 450 Crit Strike Damage, 420 vulnerable damage, I have 1200 Strength; 92% crit chance with WW, and over 1200% additive bonus damage. It doesn't work the way y'all think.

      The [x]% dmg repesents how much % of your weapon dmg a skill deals and is not found on gear.
      A basic attack skill might only do 20% of your weapon dmg per hit.
      A big spender skill might do 90% of your weapon dmg ect.
      This can be increased for some skills by getting + to skill levels on your gear.
      You can see these numbers on your skill tree.
      The other %dmg is just the generic % increased dmg affix you find on your gear.
      Overpower is also its own bucket (and therefor isn't effected by vulnerability and crit).
      Since you can't really increase the chance to do an overpowering hit its not a very good stat.
      Its something like 3% chance to overpower, that hit will benefit from that increased overpower dmg stat (as if it is its own bucket).

    This game is just a massive headache that we as players have to deal with while the devs work out the problems. They should be paying us to play and do there homework.
    None of this is explained in game. Hell I was playing as barbarian till level 15 then realized I can change from duel wield to two handed.

    So: Main Stat = one bucket, crit dmg = one bucket, Vuln dmg = one bucket, overpower dmg = one bucket, all dmg vs = one bucket? Would be nice if they separated the buckets lol.
