The EDGE is definitely more affordable but, as they say, you get what you pay for. Behringer made some great technical improvements from the DFAM (ie, MIDI implementation) but, even so, you CAN'T beat thier ladder filters or oscillators.

I think its important to have a balanced ratio of dust collection to having fun with synths. The more dust the more you need to play it!

It’s a pricey synth, but the sound is absolutely off the chain even without effects.

can u use this with a sp404? what would be the best modular synth to pair with the 404? would a roland s1 work better with a budget of about 200$? thanks, will follow

With a budget like that defs do not go modular, modular can get quite expensive.

Behringer crave or the new edge would be good starts. Cheap and good.

Been thinking about it, kinda have too many synths tho lol. Do you have one?

DFAM is good but 2 EDGE with change is better.
I get people don't like Derphinger, but when you see the value of their clones, I think they're priced @ almost 1/3 the price.
I had 2 Mother 32s, sold them due to not being able to get the sound I wanted, not worth the 2K AUD I paid, Crave is $329 AUD, M32 $1050 AUD.
The economics don't add up when you need almost 3 M32s, a DFAM and up an coming SPICE (Subharmonicon).
I may in future get 2 of each so I can explore what I could not financially do before.
My Pro2/3 was around the same as 2 M32s.

Can defs agree cant beat behringer pricing. For some reason though (maybe cause price) I always worry behringer components will fail alot sooner then the higher end brands who price their stuff accordingly to the components though. Time will tell i guess!

@@johnnyposh we get a 3 year warranty here, to me it doesn't matter too much given they're so low priced.
At least you have the option to get something that possibly you could not afford 1st time round. There is a balance, but I think most would prefer to pay less for something similar in SQ.

Good point on the price already being low never thought that way. I tend to look at synths and gear as a business investment, the higher end stuff usually holds its value.

Thanks for the sub! Dfam is an amazing little unit, if you ever have the chance to get your hands on one well worth it.
