Sap Line August 2024 Tour Highlights!

Sap Line had a blast playing six gigs in five days this past August! We traveled from Alaska, Cape Breton/the coast of Maine, and Massachusetts to Vermont for an epic rehearsal ahead of two house concerts in Montpelier and Essex, a Burlington City Arts concert, a dinner gig at the Stone Corral in Richmond, a quick trip up to Québec for the Sutton Traditional Fiddle Festival, and a return to the always wonderful crowd at Bev & Bill's Brownington Ceilidh Club! All school year we enjoyed pitching set ideas and arrangement possibilities to each other, to create this program of songs and tunes that take listeners from Appalachia to Finland to Cape Breton and back home to New England.
Firmly rooted in the musical traditions of New England & Maritime Canada, Scotland, Ireland, and Appalachia, Sap Line blends these connected traditions, exploring a palette of rich harmonic possibilities. Sap Line brings an astonishing number of instruments to the stage, adding a fresh and youthful flavor to their arrangements of energetic jigs and reels, lyrical 3-part harmony singing, and foot-stomping Old Time favorites. The band name, Sap Line, comes from the Vermont tradition of tapping trees to make maple syrup. Together, the band taps into their various communities of musicians and mentors who came before, sharing their legacy in dynamic, high-spirited performances.
