    I think PT2 is far and away better than live Squad, but it's very toned down from PT1. PT1 is the direction Squad needs to go despite them not getting everything right.
    Still, just fun seeing you in Squad again and actually enjoying it. Great game.

      It really is hard to see that such a major youtuber like Karmakut encourages the developpers and the squad community to think that PT2 is what the game needs... Your videos made me realize I wasn't fool to think that squad greatest oppotunity lies more toward PT1 than PT2, thanks a lot for representing us.
      What is quit ironic with a bit of perspective is "long time milsim veteran" that have been quiting squad several years ago because of "arcadish gameplay and meta" screaming about PT1 and adoring PT2 even tho it is in the end no that far from the actual-released-squad-gameplay with PiP scopes....

      ​@@romainedmond9947 Realism isn't just making guns have ridiculous recoil. in real life these guns have barely any recoil like how it is in test 2. I think a breathing sway mechanic would make a lot more sense than a supposed trained soldier just flailing his gun around wildly because he's out of breath. We both want the same thing but there are more realistic ways to make gunfights last longer.

      Sincerely, OWI NEEDS to stop all running and gunning, vehicles SHOULD be OP, target acquisition SHOULD be long, time to kill SHOULD be long, firefights MUST be messy. They gotta go PT1's direction pleaaase.
      @karmakut likes to feel like an operator that fights with confidence, has cheakweld and so and so, but SQUAD is for you to play as steve mcfuck from kansas 19 years old who shot 3 mags in basic training or as Vasily a russian CONSCRIPT, or Kunesh a insurgent who just grabbed an AK to shoot at the americans!!!! These Soldiers ARE SHIT AT FIGHTING they can't shoulder properly, they ARE scared and ARE MESSY.
      After loading, look at the teams....at the regiments, they are not Delta Force, they are average soldiers just trying to survive. And I loved PR because of thar Role play and this makes Squad simulate battles where people shot a lot, die sometimes and kill almost never!! And belieeve me, that makes it 10x more fun because without individual kills, the only way to achieve goals is through comms, fighting together and naturally the player base will understand these strats. The ones who don't will leave and make the game better IMO.

      Well, final thoughts, no need to put the scope on you chest, but maybe make it more shaky and that losing focus effect was very nice, They should make the time to ADS bigger like in PR. Heavily punish soldier out of breath, punish long scopes target acquisition time, maybe that out of focus effect to prevent double accurate taps. Supression is supposed to be opressive and as Karma said, make it more again. The AT time to aim was way to long indeed.
      In all, Great Work OWI. Squad is for LARPing average soldiers, not Delta force operators with no fear for their lifes. Cheers

    I think both playtests where important. Now I think what we need is to combine the good aspects of both PTs, soo I suggest keeping the stock as we have in PT2 but implementing higher values for supression and maybe sway to introduce what most experienced and liked while playing PT1. We need to remember those are only Playtests, we have them to see what will work and what won't.

      If we keep the gunplay mechanic as it is, it’ll encourage players to shoot precisely instead of just spraying at the general directions resulting in less “felt” suppression. PT1 felt awful to shoot a gun but the atmosphere was insane while PT2 felt way better to shoot but had worse atmosphere. Idk what to choose at this point 😕

    Even if they keep the weapon handling from PT2, I think having suppression have longer time to dissipate based on volume and caliber of fire would go a long way in alleviating the issues. The other thing is to absolutely make sure that a scoped weapon isn't the primary pick if possible for everyone. We need to keep target acquisition time high for someone going ADS after movement with magnified optics so there's good reason to pick holos/irons.

      ​@@aspielm759 i think that its incredibly nuanced, its difficult to explain why PT1 feels so bad from a real shooters perspective. i tried to use the VR gamer example to relate to people but that didn't work, @controlledpairs does a MUCH better job explaining and is more qualified than i th-cam.com/video/mFLmKUpb2aQ/w-d-xo.html .
      i think moi and i both agree OWI doing SOMETHING is better than nothing, where we disagree is where that experience lies
      FLOATY gunplay for LONG firefights (PT1),
      TIGHT gunplay for QUICK firefights (Vanilla),
      or REASONABLE gunplay for REASONABLE firefights (PT2)
      there is a sizable playerbase for each of these 3 options within squad. at the end of the day OWI will decide what they decide, how they go about doing is their own business and for anyone to think a single goobertuber is influencing the state of gameplay is unfathomably stupid. this update has brought out an unbelievable amount of bad faith actors and its honestly a shame how tribal the community has become

      in video 1, what you might say is the harshest video, even though i mentioned i disliked the floaty gameplay i mentioned OWI was doing an A+ job in trying to fix the problems, i loved the direction squad was going, and that the future for squad was brighter than ever before. but people have selective hearing so it is what it is

    This is not how squad looks like to majority of players man. You wont be in a squad this coordinated %95. These playtests forces you to play tactical and if you dont play tactical you will still not die in 2 seconds nor one tap someone, you will get into a firefight. Since most squads do not play tactical at all, people loved being forced into acting together and even though when they dont, they can still fire their guns. But second play test reduced this experience drastically. In second play test many people couldnt experience Squad like it is in the video. So after the first play test for most of the people second playtest felt like the same shit but with some new modern fps features.

    reducing suppression blur was terrible, I went from being able to suppress as a machine gunner right back to old squad. aka being headshot instantly

      ​@@karmakut @ryuhanja3415 I don't think your problem was suppression. If it's easier to aim, people are inherently going to hit you more often as an mg, suppressed or not.
      PT1 might not have been realistic in a gun handling perspective, but I think the result in the wider scheme was that the battles turned out more authentic and engaging, even in random squads (i.e, in my games, we had much more organization, utilized mg suppression, and couldn't make flashy plays even in completely random squads. This wasn't the case in my PT2 experience.)

      @@jayreg8 i had a lot of amazing firefights in PT2 2 matches in the PT2 was some of the best squad i have ever played, using suppression still seemed to work quite well.
      I think no matter what they do, the game will always come down to whos in charge of the squad that will make your experience good or bad.
      Squad just is not a fun game when you have a leader thats only lead because no one else will make a squad.

      ​@@nviwraith5271 I think this is fair, and ultimately both PTs were massive improvements. I do think that the mechanics in PT1 were a little overtuned, but managed to encourage even the most random of squads to play a bit more authentically than PT2.
      That being said, it's personal preference and bias. I understand that plenty of people enjoyed PT2. For me, it didn't feel drastic enough, but I'd rather the game go in the direction that's best for the playerbase instead of catering to me specifically.

    There was nothing wrong with pt1, content creators are just picky because they have to be for content. There's no shot in a game that is supposed to emphasize tactical realizism, you should be able to run at full sprint and then stop and one tap someone. Like basically ever. The spray on the lmgs was fine; it's a lmg, they're gonna jump around in you... and the suppression should be turned back up. This game is suffering from arcade syndrome (when a shooter emulates the mainstream ones) and people just wanna whine when they can't hit there highlights anymore.

      except people train for exactly that, there are drills where you run full speed then stop and shoot targets sometimes up to 50-100m away. I have yet to see someone one tap someone while even just walking in this update. I don't like when people who have never trained with these weapons think they know what realistic is.

      @@specialist4566 such targets are typically static and the shooter hasn't been doing it for hours. Something like this might be believable for the MEE mod where your playing as sof units. But your conventional units simply do not put in the time to be as accurate or skilled as the video gamers performance as them in the game would suggest they are....and that should be obvious....so. pretty lazy point you made there lol and you have no idea my background, lazy insult as well.

      Any soldier in a warzone is likely to be somewhat exhausted, under tons of physical and mental pressure, and jacked on adrenaline.
      He didn't add new factors to his argument, he assumed people reading the argument would have enough good faith to understand that he's speaking in the context of battle, not a training range.

    after the 2nd playtest its confirm that playtest 1 was the right way. run n gun, quickscoping everything is back in playtest 2. so playtest 2 goes against the idea why the dev wanted the overhaul. if you are out of stamina your accuracy should take a hit. playtest 2 is back to cod.

    I really hope this infantry overhaul is just the start of the work the devs want to put into the game. the game is also waaayy overdue for a vehicle and mechanics and gameplay ovehaul.

    I agree with your views on the new tweaks and the overhaul in general, but it is almost impossible to find a server that has squads that run effectively like in this video.
    It's just spawn in, run or drive for 5 minutes, and then die uncontrollably. People still lone wolf and suppression kinda feels less valuable compared to when the aiming was jacked up

      Very true but it also kind of depends on the server. Some of the servers I have been on there has been some great teamwork but defiantly most of them are just lone wolfs running around as you said.

      What you are talking about is essentially a systematic issue. The game modes, the way the kits are distributed, the way the teams are organized and etc are all contributing to that. The infantry overhaul will definitely not resolve this issue.

      I felt that on average my teams on the test server were way better than on regular squad. I think we need more hardcore servers for people who wanna play well, instead of going "YOLO LOGI ON POINT, SPAWN MAIN WHEN WE DIE"

      If you learn how to run your own squad you almost never have this issue, i started squad leading after my first 20-30 hours because i could rarely find an actual squad but just people that wanted to run around.
      Make a squad, be strict on your squad rules, if ppl run off and do their own thing, just replace em, its not the games fault you cant find a good squad, its your fault for not being able to run one.
      Also, add people you had a lot of fun being in squad with.

    I love these close quarters battles. I wish Arma was like this. The only Arma Mod that's close is MikeForce Vietnam. But on the Altas map, the Enemies are soo far... and hardly any nice size towns to do close quarter battles. Nice leads and ambush.

    I'm not coming back to Squad until this is fully implemented for vanilla. Too burnt out on the bullshit. I knew I was done when I got killed by someone dodging bullets like fucking Neo in the Matrix by pressing Q and E over and over, while their aim was laser accurate. Incredible that OWI allowed that kind of nonsense for as long as they have. I also love that it seems like you play with graphics cranked up and shadows at a realistic level instead of minmaxing settings for better visibility. +1 honor. Also, I hope the suppression mechanics are a bit overtuned on release. I know this probably sounds stupid, but it's the only way to really replicate how effective suppressing fire is supposed to be. Videogames will never truly be able to replicate that fear of being shot or dying, so having bullets flying overhead or landing nearby severely impacting your aim and visibility is about as close as you can get. War of Rights does a good job with this.

    I'd say at lower stamina having the first playtest weapon sway and little stock wheld and at higher stamina having your stock wheld and your weapon sway minimized but just enough that way it's kinda hard to have accurate shots at a distance but not impossible. also keeping the first playtest suppression. The first playtest suppression looked cool while the weapon sway was a bit much Ima fairly new Player. Idk I'm just spitballing here.

    Honestly, this was great game play. With the other squad videos, the combat kind of felt rushed, all of the firefights would end within seconds or just a few minutes . This video really showed the contrast from the vanilla squad gameplay, and it looks and feels way better. You can move more freely during active gunfights, and utilize fire and maneuver tactics without being instantly shot down as you get out of prone. I hated this because it feels like you couldn't go anywhere without being killed by a pro gamer. I know a lot of this has already been said by content creators, but this video really just highlights it all really well.

    For me peak squad is the base building. You can really change a map you have played hundreds of times just by building some towers and walls. The peak for me is seeing everyone using the cover I thunk up and then trying to counter build more cover to reduce casualties . Setting up effective deployable weapons is also a highlight for me.

    I'd really like some of these design change ideas to go to Tarkov. The fact that so many fights end with one shot has always been super un-engaging to me. And I don't like making helmets unrealistically strong as a counter to that.

    What advantage does "suppression" give? i thought it was a way to keep the enemy in place whilst you flank around, but by the way i see it being used it seems like you're only doing it so that they can't shoot you back and so that they die if they move??

    A fundamental infantry drill is establishing a base of fire and then having an element maneuver on the enemy. As an infantry enjoyer™ this makes me happy.

    i think that the community as a whole should choose what we need from both playtests. personally i think we need the ads and movement from PT2 but still keep the aspects of suppression from PT1. PT1 kept it feeling like a milsim. PT2 made it feel like large scale Insurgency sandstorm. also i think they should’ve used the eotech as the ak12 sight because most infantry men just get eotechs cause theyre much better than the issued sights

      @@Diego-lt4wm I played the very first 3 games pt1 was open on afo, and both the other tests. There was marginal difference, the devs even said it themselves, any differences noticed are placebo. The changelogs show only minor differences as well.

      this is that video, he said its mostly better now because they fixed the cheek weld issue, and that now they can bring back some more of the sway if they need to balance it.

    I dont play Squad much since my PC dont run it very well but seeing this makes me pretty hyped for it and I might even upgrade my old shitty hardware.
    Also off topic little bit - since this update should bring more realism to the game, why Squad still dont have dismemberment by explosions?
    Since you are being hit by large scale of explosives - beginning from 155mm shell to frags...you just walk it off after being revived.
    Maybe except frags, everything else larger should be able to rip you a new one.

      I think it has to do with many of the devs (or at least the old ones) being vets and wanting the game to be enjoyed by other vets, so in order to not trigger any PTSD , they won't implement body dismemberment.

      @@Matuss101 trust me I used to bust their balls on discord to get some body dismemberment effect, back in the day, but then someone (can't remember if it was a dev or what) gave me the same argument.
