    Overall sounds pretty good, especially if they are known for having good motors. I think it's great that you waited to do a review

      Thanks Paula.. It kinda worked out that way. I bought the mower before I had a TH-cam channel. And I as thinking man this thing still looks new after 5 years

    The belts on any of the riding mowers are usually the primary point of failure no matter what brand you buy. Good review! Thanks!

    • @ShinyKnife
      @ShinyKnife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yep that’s very true. but in my case I had a bent idler pulley causing the belt to come off every 5 minutes

    Your mower looks great...lots of people don't wash them and they leave them outside then complain how poor the quality is...you can tell you store it inside a shed or something, that s not just a lawn mower its an investment...your hard earned money..me like you take care of mine!

    • @ShinyKnife
      @ShinyKnife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh It’s been dirty before. But I always wash it off after I mow. I do keep it inside a shed. I agree it’s a investment. This is my 7th summer having this mower and it still looks the same.

    Great video. I just bought a 2019 model with the 17 hp Kohler. $400 bucks!! It as good as new. Regarding belts, I recommend Rotary brand. I've used the TSC Kevlar belts over the years and they just don't hold up. The Rotary belts do. Red in color. One thing about the Bronco I just bought...the steering is stiff and there are no grease fittings! Have you encountered this problem? Again, thanks for the great video.

    • @ShinyKnife
      @ShinyKnife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the steering is stiff I just sprayed wd 40 on the linkage and it seems a bit better.

      Derek Everette I've had this same mower, but with a 20hp engine, since Memorial Day 2013 and mine has been zero issues. Just do oil change as needed and it has been great for me. My only complaint was the mow in reverse, which I unplugged. It isn't hard to put the mower in park to hop off and pick stuff up. I highly recommend this Bronco. I recently moved and am now considering a larger 54 inch version due to my larger yard.

    Hey man, my dad died a couple years ago. Been helping my mother out ever since. She's had a cub cadet for about 15 years, and is thinking about buying a new mower. I'm only interested in knowing how accessible the parts are on these troy built mowers are. Incase I need to fix it in the future. They look a bit more simple than the other mowers. What are your thoughts?

    • @ShinyKnife
      @ShinyKnife  ปีที่แล้ว

      If I’m being honest I would probably buy another cadet. But to answer your question parts are available and plentiful for the Troybilt. The hardest thing to fix is the drive belt. Everything else is pretty easy. Parts are Fairly cheap if you can repair it yourself. Hope some of that helps.

  • @isaiahspinney6113

    Just bought one for 200 bucks on Facebook, won’t crank yet but it all looks simple enough, should make a nice rig

    I should show you my Troy Bilt Bronco. It has to be at least 12 years old. Padding on the seat is gone, all four tires go flat every week, paint has faded and there is a permanent layer of dirt on the deck. It still runs and cuts though!!! It stays outside. No real mechanical issues. The brakes stopped working on it a couple of years ago. I did have to take it to a shop to fix the steering column. Evidently there is some type of "bushing" on it that wears out... I could only turn left , the wheel would just spin freely if I turned right... good for Darlington or Rockingham but not for my backyard!!! Ha ha ha!!! Man, your looks brand new!

    • @ShinyKnife
      @ShinyKnife  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yup it’s still in pretty good shape for being 5 years old. I hope it last for 12 years. Did your drive belt last that long?

    • @ShinyKnife
      @ShinyKnife  ปีที่แล้ว

      I was going to buy the pony. But I live on 11 acres it would’ve been to small for me. The bronco I have is really to small. I need to put a starter on it for this season. It went out last year. But overall it’s been a decent mower.

    Well brother, it's good to see you back on TH-cam making content once again. And this lawnmower is definitely in good shape for being five years old. And I know what you mean by the sand chewing up lawnmower blades. When I lived in Florida I was always replacing the lawn mower blades on my riding mower. Not a bad looking truck brother. I've still got a do the review on my 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 with all of my add-ons. Thanks for sharing brother.

    Brand new bronco lawnmower that cuts uneven & when on one side doesn’t even touch ground. Any suggestions to help? What’s tire pressure supposed to be? Could that be issue? It was already put together when bought! Thank you!

    • @ShinyKnife
      @ShinyKnife  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Adjust the deck height. There are notches on the back of the frame where it attaches. Checking the air pressure would be a good idea too. There’s also a front hanger to adjust the height in the front. But if it’s uneven I’m going to say air pressure in the tires is off. Or the back of the deck is not leveled.

    I have a question for you on this mower, first I also have one bought it 3 years ago now. The problem I'm having with mine started last year with it not starting right away. Checked it out the other month and saw that the choke is not closing all the way. How would I adjust this issue? I can close it by hand and it starts as soon as I turn the key. Any thoughts on this issue?

    • @ShinyKnife
      @ShinyKnife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t blame you. The Kohler engine has been super reliable. I’m guessing they did this to reduce production cost. That was one of my decisions to buy the mower

  • @danielhulitt1212
    @danielhulitt1212 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Good info, and if I can guess, I am thinking this is being used in South Carolina. I just bought a 2020 Bronco 42x, with a Troy Bilt engine (not sure if they make it or farm it out.) My 20 yr old Craftsman Kohler is still runing strong, but the deck and other pieces were failing, so I made the switch. 547cc engine is very strong, but not HP rated. I am guessing about 17-19. I will keep an eye out for the issues you raised. Thanks.
