That is an amazing way to set up a HUD! I would think that instead of destroying the mini map, a better way to do it would to have an input of 1 going into the texture and then removing it when a flag is triggered. This way you could easily have multiple textures for multiple maps.
More tips: to make the map look more real. (If the map is a item for your game) Call up a touch a sensor and make it small and set the settings of Check What? to world and then call a play sound Nodon and link it to the object Nodon and set the play sound like what sounds paper to you.
If your making a monster hunter esc game theres two people making arpg's in gbg you should checknout both their little series so far you'll get info on how to make a sword and a bow! Two good wepons for monster hunter also heres a tip bn to save on time make a template everything you know you're gonna need such as the player character and other things then copy that whenever you make a new monster in a new game so you don't have to remakenthat stuff also make a game that functions as a quest board have that showninfo on the monster maybe do some cool pixel art for the monsters then make bn it to where each monster is a seprate game and you pick which one you wanna do from the quest board that'll make it where you can make this way bigger also make the monster before the area the monster is the most important thing
I’m currently working on a neat creation that incorporates many mechanics learned on your channel. Character model is complete and fully functioning. I’d love to know your thoughts on how it turns out. Hopefully by tomorrow. Stay tuned!
This is kinda random but if you wanted to you might be able to add a block or something some way to block the map maybe some textture that looks like the map with a red X or somethingin front of the map on your hud then getting to ike a chest or something a like a dungeon map in zelda then you have opening the chest destroy the object in someway to reveal the map its a way to make collecting the map a possibilty jot sure how well attempting to destroy it would work
2:17 Why did you copy the constant nodon 3 times? If they were all one, your should’ve just left one there and connected it to all of the ports to the free slide connector
Well if your map was any other shape, or your camera had a different POV, or you wanted it anywhere else on the screen you’d need different variables so i thought it would be nice to show all three that you can adjust. And we end up turning one into -1. So it would just be saving 1 nodon.
Brilliant idea. Makes me want to add a mini map to the game I'm working on. Have you noticed if you connect even two tiny simple objects to a person it gets that awkward bounce when it lands? Do you have any idea how to mitigate this?
Yeah even if you make things not solid they always have a bunch of weird weight that slings around. I try to work around it by attaching things to bigger objects or having fewer connections but it’s a persistent problem
Possible but will be time consuming, I might've just seen something like this on the GBG reddit. You can assign button presses on the remote to "Fingers" that are a few objects connected to each other with hinges, and the hinges *pinch* when you press for example. So many logistics to sort out but possible.
This is going to help me a lot :)))) Question: for the laser thing I commented last time. I need a way to make it be launched from a gun. But I don’t know how
I was trying to make a game farming game where you can harvest crops and they can grow back, but I don't think I can get fancy objects to grow back. I Have tried using a launch object Nodon but I cant launch fancy objects. I don't know what to do!
Hmm. You might have to employ some visual trickery. I don’t know how you have it structured now but you can have the fancy objects rise up from the ground or recede back into the ground to simulate growing or being harvested for example.
Hi there, Thank you! If you're talking about how to change the map's place on the screen, you can toy around the with constants that go into the freeslide connector to place it anywhere on the screen. If you want to cursor to start somewhere else, add a number with a calculator to the location sensor input to alter it before it goes into the map.
So, I would like to know, is there anyway to translate objects locations to be on the minimap? Like see the live location of an enemy or the target location? I’d much rather have something that moves on the map same as us.
I haven’t played around with this much since the video so pardon me if I’m not making any sense. I was thinking, it might take some work but if you find the enemies starting position you can use those as the original starting point(by using add nodon to affect how it connects to the map) . So if an enemy is say 5 units to the right and 6 north. If you start them out on their own counter at x+5 and z+6. Then I imagine it would track them with that as a starting point. If your brain is huge, you might be able to do that programmatically by subtracting their location from the player starting location as the game is running so you can just plop enemies down freely and it still work.
I did my first idea (additional free slider) and made a UFO teleport randomly around the world (well randomly to specific spots) the minimap shows it JUST perfectly. So it works for limited amounts if they HAVE to move on the minimap.. same works for stationary objects too.. your suggestion may work better for larger scale (more enemies and landmarks)
@@DaveNodon G-000-Y0V-TYV. I made a simple little game with a couple of indicators including this one… if only we could change it to be kinda a scrolling minimap where out market is stationary and the map moves around us…. I think that’s asking too much of this game though…..
Yes, the head nodon still originates at the camera position so you can move the elements around on the freeslide until they are set in the right position.
Whatever activates when your round ends, connect that output into the teleporter. Also send it out to any cool effects to help the user know the round is restarting, etc.
As someone who adores making things, I’m proud to be part of this game’s minuscule yet dedicated community.
Using a free slide connector to position elements of the HUD is genius!!!
its incredible what people are able to make with this game, I didnt think minimaps would be possible, but here we are
anything is possible if you try hard enough in this game
That is an amazing way to set up a HUD! I would think that instead of destroying the mini map, a better way to do it would to have an input of 1 going into the texture and then removing it when a flag is triggered. This way you could easily have multiple textures for multiple maps.
Yes! And that way you can have multimaps or even an updating map once you obtain an object, or more “parts” of the map, etc.
More tips: to make the map look more real. (If the map is a item for your game) Call up a touch a sensor and make it small and set the settings of Check What? to world and then call a play sound Nodon and link it to the object Nodon and set the play sound like what sounds paper to you.

@@DaveNodon It’s funny why it’s called “Map”.

This’ll be good for my GTA game
How do you make the cursor slower so the map can fit more area?
Just wondering if you can use this system to be able to have a HUD for your 3D game?
So daves dad is a constant nodon? Huh...
My map cursor only goes up and down and it goes off the mini map. What do I ?
Well done

Do not destroy it
How could you make it so the curser moves slower to fit the whole world?
Never mind I found out how.

maybe you can make a tutorial on how to make a boss fight? theres a lot of room for creativity there so id like to see how you would do it

What if I want my cursor thing to start on say, the right side?
(Great video helped a lot)

Change the sun position/height in the World nodon.

Can this work in 1st person
Yes, the head nodon still originates at the camera position so you can move the elements around on the freeslide until they are set in the right position.

You know how to teleport using a button but that only works if, for example, a round ends
When the round ends, turn a flag on. Then the input to the teleporter is "flag AND button pressed"

How long until there's a Dave Nodon added to the game? Lol.
