Holy crap. 21:10 had my heart pounding. I never would have went for that move without plugging something first. Glad the panic-piece held there. Bold stuff!
@@petewhittington9399 na bro, an emotional support piece is when it's a terrible placement but there to give you some sort of reassurance, that defo was a panic piece, placed just before he pumped out.
Terrific video, very informative and entertaining. Love the humble-brag minus the brag, but that is definitely a climb to be proud of having done so quickly. Thanks for the close look at a route that's always psyched me out. Nice going gentlmen! Keep on doing your thing!
I can't wait to watch this! I was able to visit Squamish this year in May and September, thanks to my friend from school who's a weekend warrior climber up there. Some of the best memories I've made so far have been having a blast on the Apron and at the best crag I've ever been to, Smoke Bluffs!
That slab that you can see daylight through is so skeeeetchy!!!! YIKES! Good climb guys 👍I grew up in the area since 1970, and I still find myself staring at the “Chief” in absolute awe. Squamish is definitely a climbing destination for climbers throughout the world. Outdoor activities is absolutely amazing around that town. Cheers guys, thoroughly enjoy the vid, well done 👍😎👏👏👏
hey just wanted to thank you for putting this up, really took me back. i only did the grand once, in '97 but my partner let me lead everything. i cant believe you didn't sling the horn on the sword , that was my best piece! lol
Thank you Noah for this visual experience. Moving to Squish in 1991 and doing hockey, ski, canoe but only dabbled in climbing. Being part of sorca i experienced the Baldwin cooper party at Howe sound brew pub(2005ish). But from still pics It was hard to understand the climb. Thanks for making this experience video so Fellows like me can visualize the feat. It sure looks amazing and well worth it! I only know the top of the chief from hiking not climbing.
Next time you're there and on decent trail. Almost right at the bottom by the sign is a boulder problem called "The Fuzz" (V7) very Squamish bouldery, but you're there for the neck-height pool. It's a secret of veteran climbers out there to get a free cold bath
Great vid! My old stomping ground. Climbed many of those over and over. Exasperator or Apron Strings is a much better start! But the old chain pull walk around is faster. I recommend Cruel Shoes next time!!
Hey Noah, just wanted to give a tip for a future trip. I think you'd really appreciate Bohuslän, Sweden. It is famous for its trad climbing, and the nature is really beautiful
Nice to see the granite of my old Happy Place. Coming around the corner with the first view of The Chief, I would get the biggest smile and just feel blissful. The only multipitch on the big wall that I did was technically on the Apron: Banana Split. It was totally runout. The scariest part though was the walk off. I spent most of my trips in the Bluffs, Marin Park, Cheakamus and that crag above the Sound. @iheartsquamish
Its really just on other side of mountains to the north north west of squamish.10 minutes by chopper 5hrs by car and ferry to powell river then about an hour to the climbing
Dangerpuffin and I’d love to have the confidence for big walls! I’ve lead a bunch of single pitches, but ct doesn’t have many multi pitches… I guess I got do a gunks trip…
@avabakerolsen I loved this video! Im a Bellingham climber just across the border and love climbing squamish! Squam was the home of my first trad leads! Your vids rock and inspire me to climb hard.
I've been in Squamish for 20 years. A lot of the details are not from the wall. I know almost every route. It's very difficult to film or take pictures while climbing wall.
Thats nothing come up to powell river.not far away .the eldred river valley has MANY as good or better a lot unclimbed so unnamed and much higher in height and difficulty .still kinda unknown so....
Update: I've selected a winner for the giveaway! Appreciate everyone who watched, commented, and subscribed! Wish I could give them to you all!
:( from uk
@aldenhoward7
To bad it’s only for the US :( but love the video!
It's pretty funny that you did this video in Squamish, but the massive climbing community there can't even enter your giveaway. 😅
Holy crap. 21:10 had my heart pounding. I never would have went for that move without plugging something first. Glad the panic-piece held there. Bold stuff!
I believe it's called an emotional support piece. :)

@@Trad_IsRad I'll admit, I posted that comment before I saw that he fell on it (so it wasn't terrible, it seems!). 100% agree with your definition!
Brilliant content. That slab at the start looked like a crazy runout! Nice!
You mean the «portable v4»?😂
On their own, those first two pitches are called Merci Me, 5.8 R.
Great fun, but very run out. 8 bolts total, between the two long pitches.
If you come and do the Chief make sure you hold a meetup for your Vancouver fans ;)
Thanks Mike! Loving your content these days as well!
@simonsimon9880 merci me was my first lead in the early 90's. That first bolt feels good

Thanks!! Appreciate you watching!
mate such a good video, felt real and raw. more routes in this format please.
Glad you liked it! Will do!
That move at 10:55 is WILD! Right over the wet streaks too...
Yeah right!!

I relate to what you said about granite just providing ultimate grip, it takes a while to realize how much you can trust it
It's really an amazing place!!
Love these multi-pitch climbs, you guys are incredible!
Your content has inspired me to work on my own climbing documentary this summer while I’m on holiday. Thank you Mr Kane!
Cheers!

Glad you enjoyed!
Gentleman! That was outstanding. Great show and adventure. I’ve been to Squamish and have great memories there. Thanks for reminding me. Cheers.
I lol'd after you finished Perry's layback. I felt that. We all felt that. The relief, the exhaustion
Your vid just popped out of the algorithm. I really enjoyed it! Makes me really appreciate living in Vancouver and being a climber at the same time.

Brilliant video. Epic climbing and fun times all round.
I did that one in '95. Keep it up you'll get better at placing gear.
Yo sick! The Chief is also awesome for Wingsuit BASE Jumping. We are incredibly lucky the park allows it.
One of the things that Canada is definitely doing right!
Not a climber (MTB instead) but I live near Squamish, have hiked up the Chief for decades and love your vids. This one in particular
Great video! So cool to see you up in Squamish!
So grateful to live in British Columbia I live close to Squamish!! Cougar canyon is also a nice little spot!
Super great! Thanks for sharing the trials and triumphs of the adventure!
Great movie, thanks
Amazing! Always looking forward to watch your video's :)
Yes, cause that's exactly what Squamish needs, more traffic on the Grand Wall!!! 👌
Fun video! bucket list for me.

dream climb for me! so cool to see you come up to canada!
I've lived in Squamish all my life and always thought the Grand Wall was a walk in the park. Based on your video its a bit harder than that!😄
Looks like the crux was pitching the tent!
When will you give ice climbing a shot? Stellar climbs through the US and Canada too.
Haha! Would LOVE to try ice climbing soon
@boulderlust stoked to see some great grand wall footage!
Great vid! My old stomping ground. Climbed many of those over and over. Exasperator or Apron Strings is a much better start! But the old chain pull walk around is faster. I recommend Cruel Shoes next time!!
And my friend Kyle's bell ❤
Hey Noah, just wanted to give a tip for a future trip. I think you'd really appreciate Bohuslän, Sweden. It is famous for its trad climbing, and the nature is really beautiful
Awesome video. Keep killing it.

@dandeveraux
Awesome stuff!! Stoked to see more climbs!
Hopefully nxt year u got a million subs bro fan from Philippines
Once had partial numb fingers for 3 months from 11b finger crack. Its common on 11s I think.
I know what you're talking about with trusting the feet on granite. Dude that stuff is so sticky (mostly) when you learn to trust it!
Dangerpuffin and I’d love to have the confidence for big walls! I’ve lead a bunch of single pitches, but ct doesn’t have many multi pitches… I guess I got do a gunks trip…
those are some unusual looking anchors
It would be great if you add the grades in Fontainebleau grading system :).
@avabakerolsen

@hlskippy another great video!
I've been in Squamish for 20 years. A lot of the details are not from the wall. I know almost every route. It's very difficult to film or take pictures while climbing wall.

@choochoosendtrain

Fantastic place..................................when it's not raining. Get some advice on handling bears.
Now imagine Marc Andre and Honnold doing that with no rope in like 45 minutes😅
Whats with the thumbnail? You didn't go up the Roman Chimney's like the yellow line indicates...
No apron strings and cruel shoes?
Grand wall and then one can hear traffic at the background all the time 😆🥹
@fishboyfouche Hey man sweet climbing, it looks pretty dry whats climbing up there like in December?
