Dave's guitar tone in this is gorgeous. And that's from some crappy camcorder mic. Imagine it in person. Shit....imagine ANY of this in person. Good lord....what a moment.
I was in the car that gave Perry a ride to this show. Flyers were distributed in L.A. We called for our tix, and busses took us up to the show. My friends and I got too high on acid. Busses stop. We ask some hikers to give us a ride the rest of the way. Later, a Ferrari is on the side of the road. We slow down. Here comes Perry - "My friend's having some car trouble" - totally junked out. I say, "you want a ride?" - the hikers freak - Everyone else: "No, no, no! He's cool!" And he gets in.
yes the ending lyrics are the best part, probably the most powerful Janes lyrics and song riff they ever did. Would you say hello to my mom? Would you pay a visit to her? She was an artist just like you were Would've introduced you to her She would take me out on Sundays We go laughing through the garbage She'd repaired legs like a doctor On the kitchen chairs we sat on She was a unhappy just as you were Unhappy just as you were Unhappy just as you were Unhappy just as you were
That blew me away too at first..though I believe a good deal of Ritual songs had been written several years before the albums release and played live during that time (such as Stop!) so there’s a good chance that many in the crowd had already heard this song numerous times and were familiar with it.
@@harrier414 You are correct most of the songs had been around for awhile. But the band or certain members were selling bootleg copies of Ritual well before it's release to support various habits. I was living in OC at the time and just about eveyone I knew had a copy.
only live version of this I've seen with the violin. I would've loved to hear them jam this groove section for longer and let that violinist fly, it sounds so good.
thank you so much for uploading this clip!! looks like this might have been "one of" the best shows ever. i hope to see more of this footage someday since it was professionally shot

Perry looks great. He's totally on his game in this show as far as I'm concerned. Epic, aside from all the poor camera work. One of the best shows I've heard. There was a decent bootleg of this. Didn't know it was done under daylight hours. I'd enjoy more of this Mt. Baldy show especially if it's a film quality. Cheers to everyone that helps these rare limited shows get out.
man i wish janes would release this professionally- meaning from the folks who are on stage actually filming. the ones who did the STOP! video. this is shot by casey- and although very good and nice to have- it still would be cool to get a pro-shot of this show. i dont know who this camera crew even were... there seems to be no info online concerning them or this. thanks for the post!
This one of my favorite Jane's tunes. One question though, Ritual was released in Aug. 1990. This video claims July 1990, yet the majority of the crowd is singing along? I will grant some folks close to the band knowing, but most of them? Strange.
Does anyone know where in mt baldy this is? The Lodge? Ski lifts? Somewhere else in the village. I grew up in Claremont a few miles down the road. It's bizarre to me that a band even this big at this time played a show up there.
I have never understood how these rock stars who were blatant H addicts or needle users got to go around shirtless and show no track marks. Did they do it in other places? Deep in my addiction, I had marks and bruises all over me. Anywhere I could hit, I tried. Again and again and again. They didn't go unnoticed at my work, that is for certain! I wish I could go back to these times though. And not become a huge addict. Clean now, thank goodness. ❤❤❤❤❤ Love you Janes Addiction!!
Yeah Perry looks a mess...but he was a working and creative junkie: recording, touring, surfing, f**king, and thoroughly enjoying himself. And he kept that pace up for a few more years. Regrets? Bet he has none.
this is something of timeless beauty and a window into a better time indeed...a looking glass for us to look back
Dave's guitar tone in this is gorgeous. And that's from some crappy camcorder mic.
Imagine it in person.
Shit....imagine ANY of this in person. Good lord....what a moment.
Im enjoying the violin player's Z.Cavariccis.
And yes, Jane's shows in 1990 were transcendental, primal experiences.
Man I was 15 in 90 and a fan. I couldn't imagine being at that show. X

it's a crime against humanity that this song gets cut off
It really is. Such a beautiful song. 💓

This video is amazing. Man does this take me back. I would love to be back at a concert in the early 90's even just for a day.
Skunk Life agree 100%
Skunk Life times are soooooooo different now, I seen them in NYC in 91' the best show of my entire life STILL! 😩🙏🏽
Riding the flash back time machine with me Tina Sharp aka kate tansey
Happy Chanukah
Most people say that if they had a time machine they would go back and kill Hitler or meet Jesus. I think I would at least hit this show first...
I second that , looks like some kind of rock n roll heaven
Not without picking me up first you aren't
Pick me up too!
Shit...I just traded mine to this woman for a green Fiat
pick me up
This is the favourite song of Dave Navarro
Just pure audio quality and professionalism right here.
Jesus I'm crying. What special days.
One of my favorite bands of all time. Perry is incredible.
Great vid. Perry looks awful, dope sick or just on brownstone....
it's crazy to see everyone singing along to the song, the Ritual album was still 6 weeks from being released.
That blew me away too at first..though I believe a good deal of Ritual songs had been written several years before the albums release and played live during that time (such as Stop!) so there’s a good chance that many in the crowd had already heard this song numerous times and were familiar with it.

@@chrismess135 oh that's pretty cool, I had no idea! That would definitely get the crowd familiar!
That’s cause they wrote almost all 30 songs in like the first two-three years they were together 👍🏻
That guitar tone at about the the 3:15 mark onwards gets me. It's so visceral so good.
I was there. It was an amazing afternoon!! I remember it like it was yesterday:)
What a groove by Stephen Perkins
Such an amazing drummer and guy. They were all so incredibly beautiful and talented. Each one of them!!❤❤❤❤
this video is a time machine
That violin echoing through the forest must've been
Be,e,ay,u,tee,eye,ef,you,el - BEAUTIFUL ! YEæah !
So crazy how they are playing such a gentle song in a public place.
I have an audio bootleg of this show, but I had no idea that there was video footage too. Thanks for posting this. 👍
How I wish the video didn't cut early. This is so so so damn good
only live version of this I've seen with the violin. I would've loved to hear them jam this groove section for longer and let that violinist fly, it sounds so good.
ive worked there for 2 years now. I cant believe that when i was 3 this happened where i pass every single day
This is great to finally take this show in. Right on Rock on...
thank you so much for uploading this clip!! looks like this might have been "one of" the best shows ever. i hope to see more of this footage someday since it was professionally shot
a violinist with a mullet..now i have seen it all
Thanks for posting this...
AWESOME footage! Thanks for posting :)

@theivory1 One of my favorites if not my favorite. It tells a story,,,just love the flow man!!
More of this must exist!!
This one of my favorite Jane's tunes.

They had a lot of Ritual's song before they ever released their 1st album...so some were saved for the 2nd album. 😊
Soooooooo dope!!!
A real beauty
the people on the other side of the chain link fence (behind the stage) are in the best spot. Right behind the drummer!
delicious but man i woulda liked to see/hear the climactic ending. thanks for the post.
Maybe they had been playing it at shows for some time before they recorded it?
Dude you're totally right, it's def Danny.
Does anyone know where in mt baldy this is? The Lodge? Ski lifts? Somewhere else in the village. I grew up in Claremont a few miles down the road. It's bizarre to me that a band even this big at this time played a show up there.
Thanks Creep!
killer! more if you have it, please :)
This is so cool
better times indeed
Perry is SOOO junked up in this clip.

Where did that pro footage end up????
woo hoo 4:59 behind the drums
I wish I was there.
Feels like a century ago
Epic!
Where is the rest of this show's footage?
Great times. The kids today have no idea…
god damn what a fucking throwback video wow I didn't exist then but still
just fluid in ma pa's sack
Who is Danny Carey??
That stage looks way too crowded.
I need a cigarette.
HAHAHA the violinists pants
Am I the only one who noticed Danny Carey with the video camera and red shirt?
Like every ten years or so a great came out of LA substring in 65 the doors 76 vanhalen 81
Motley cruel jane's addiction 87
Anyone remember what part of Mt. Baldy this was at cuz I have no clue??
purplemascara99 it was at a resort of sorts, way up the mtn. Remember parking, getting tickets and taking a bus to the top.
Snow Crest Lodge. Just below th ski lifts. Was there as well. Place is in shambles and closed down now.
@XforkbenderX You may be right!
Yeah Perry looks a mess...but he was a working and creative junkie: recording, touring, surfing, f**king, and thoroughly enjoying himself. And he kept that pace up for a few more years. Regrets? Bet he has none.
there i am at 4:17
mmmm ...mmm.....good :)
As a fiddler, I wanna push that violinist aside.
...wouldnt I like to have been there...
Unseen footage unseen facts
wow
yes you are going thru shock treatment
@WASSnROLL
yes
I miss these times before millennials and Gen z’s shit on everything
Jeez, too many people on stage.
He needs a cigarette 🚬🚬
The winners are the ones who took the most drugs/ ya ha
dude playing the violin looks way out of place!
The BEST thing about this band was that NOBODY was out of place.
Perry looks fairly unhealthy... Great performance though!!!
I bought an Ibanez because of Dave
