Nice video man. I forked over about $400 to have 10 yards of mulch delivered to my house so watching this stung a little. Buying a mulcher is a much better long term option and will save $$.

Eric Waddell Last year we got an estimate on mulch and we were like what !!! 🤨 All we need is two seasons and it should pay for itself plus who doesn’t want another tool in the arsenal 🙌

How has the 300 held up? Could you do a video on how to un clog the shredder, and the chipper. I have watched as many videos as I can. No one shows how to clear a jam. Saw comments saying it was, or is a pain to do. Thanks.

Yes. The next jam I get I’ll make sure to video of how to clear it. It’s not fun. One of the worst deals if it happens

Not to be rude, but you spent way too long in the beginning on nothing to do with the woodchipper. Take this as constructive comments. that way you will not wonder why you have so few Like

They still offer the 400 Pro , but with a 7 hp. motor.

If the engine starts running slower. Check the spark arrestor. It may be clogged with carbon.

i just bought one and it cost me $285 to ship to honolulu. It is cheaper than homedepots chippers. Quality product.

Dang $285.... I haven’t looked at Home Depot chippers . I’m glad it’s working great! Mine is still a beast! I’ve had one jamb so far with tons of trees

I live on Oahu as well. Do you think it was worth the cost of shipping to Hawaii? There aren't many options for us.

Real nice video , family time , kids are great , land is beautiful house too , hope y'all are well. I got the 501 xl and haven't used it yet really. I did take it apart a little and put it back together and got it running and chipped and shredded some sticks and reeds. My son videoed for me so when I can edit the vids I'll make a cool movie of the awesome 501 so folks out there can see it in action. I plan on lashing a dolly under it for extra wheels so I can push it around and load it in and out of my truck. Also if I can I would like it if the main axle were narrower so it would roll through a gate for back yard work.

I just bought one of these and I spend more time taking it apart to unclog or other troubleshooting than I do shredding.

    • @chris_b_liven
      @chris_b_liven  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Are you clogging it on the shredding or mulching wood limbs? I had an issue where I kept over stuffing the top shredding and clogging

Loved the video! I've been agonizing whether I would buy a chipper/shredder. I compost a lot of leaves and I've experimented with various ways to do this the most efficient ways. I've found that electric shredder/chippers simply don't work. I've found two methods that are fairly effective. The first is to put leaves in a large, heavy duty garbage can (metal would be ideal) then mulch the leaves with my gas-powered weed-eater. This is effective, but slow.
The second method is to spread the leaves on my lawn and run over them several times in "mulching" (vs bagging) mode. When the leaves are fine enough, I then collect them with my lawn-mower's bagger attachment. This works not too badly but when the mulched leaves are damp or wet, it is difficult to pick them up.
I liked the way your chipper/shredder mulched the leaves but I noticed the leaves were quite dry. I'm wondering how effective it would be if they were wet? Perhaps you or one of your viewers could give me an opinion?
I've also tried to think of a way to efficiently dry leaves. In many regions, autumn is a relatively wet season. For me, it is rare to collect dry leaves. Perhaps someone has a solution for this?
    Thanks for posting.

DON’T put wet leaves in it. It’ll clog it. Trust me on that. I made the mistake of chipping just after buying it in PacNW winter. I spent all day unclogging it.
