Why do you recommend using the seatbelt immediately? Aren’t the straps better for getting a secure fit with the built in anchor points in the back seats of the vehicle?

because this seat is designed with a seat belt lock off that is extremely easy to use

It is required to correctly use this seat in Canada and should be in the box somewhere. I have had parents not notice it at the bottom of the box.
