Hi Sam, the bar that goes over the top of the GW coal wagon is for a tarpaulin or cover of some sort to protect the load. Nice selection of wagons by the way. :)
+quarry hunslets are the best Hey, thanks for the comment and the info! You're definitely right about that - I had a couple of other comments telling me I made a mistake there hehe ;) Cheers mate, Sam :)
At first it doesn’t feel fair to say we’re experiencing together after you mention glancing into the box… but then I realized we got to glance at the thumbnail. That certainly makes things more even.
Unusual unboxing but nice idea, I think the bar on the loaded coal wagon was to support a tarpaulin cover, the yellow cement wagon is probably a type of hopper, it was also made in grey . The class 25 runs nicely, is it a later one with extra pick ups ? Regards, Cliff.
janiceandcliff Thanks! Yeah, it looks like I was way off with my guess about the bar ;) And yes, it has pickups on all wheels but it does my track cleaning so needs a regular clean and service to run well! Thanks again, Sam
CADBURYS, TEXACO, BLUE CIRCLE CEMENT, OCEAN, PRIME PORK,MCVITIE'S SHELL, BOLSOVER. THE CREAM OF HORNBY. For just 25 pounds, that was a ring flush pull. Pure PULLMAN, game on Sam SUPERB video 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍👍👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🐖🚅🚄
Nice video, I also have a triang cement wagon but mine has metal wheels as I also replace my nylon plastic wheel sets when I can, I also use more than one brake coach on my coach rakes but I do some research first to keep formations as realistic as I can but I use so called "modeller's licence" as my rolling stock is quite varied from GWR to Ews era
Hi, thanks very much for the comment! Nylon to metal wheel conversions are definitely worth while - and I've done it to most of my favorite wagons! And thanks for the tip on the coaches - I try to do what's right... but sometimes what's fun too! All the best, Sam :)
+Sam'sTrains I always have fun running my trains and rolling stock except when the stock de-rails and I watched the video on servicing the ring field motors as I have a few Hornby locomotives with that motor. If I hadn't checked my class 47 for dirt on its motor the NSE 47 47573 I have wouldn't be working as well as it is now
In the Thomas episode a close shave for duck, the last car in his train was a van and I’m trying to find if anyone is selling those kinds of low body vans
Sam'sTrains thank you for replying and I am wanting the restored hornby flying scotsman. I am a beginner. Would you recommend saving up £220 or buying a pre owned?
WOW...what a fantastic buy. I love the mixed wagon train they make. Good review, nothing like a surprise package.
befrank88 yeah - it's always worth keeping one eye on eBay!! :D
Thanks,
Sam

Great bargain there Sam. ......The wagon with the * handle * on as you put it is a support for a tarpaulin to keep the load dry!!.......
des humphreys haha thanks for the info - my guess wasn't even close then lol ! ;)
Cheers,
Sam
Hmmmm no way off lol ....think the yellow tanker is a newer version of the blue circle cement tanker !! ....

Nice set of wagons. i have the yellow cement wagon but it`s top is missing.
Thanks a lot Philip - ahh yeah, the tops are quite prone to coming loose on those!
All the best,
Sam :)
I've got a yellow triang tanker. But it's half so I put stone in it.
TrainMaster15 yeah, when I went to clean it I realised the top part was loose, it looks quite good even with the top off! :D
Cheers,
Sam
