I built this kit when it first came out. I was excited to see something new with the Heathkit name on it. The clock display did not work initially, only a flicker upon power up. After studying the schematic, there was an error on the circuit board. One of the traces to the clock chip was off by one pin. After cutting the trace and adding a jumper wire to the correct pin, the display functioned as designed. I notified Heathkit and after they did their own testing, they acknowledged the mistake on the board and said they would send a new board once they had another batch made. I offered to be their beta tester for future products but never got a reply. Overall ,it's a nice clock but still has some unacceptable flaws. One is the time accuracy is not great. It will be off a couple of minutes after a few months. A $15 Casio watch is far more accurate. And the 6 AA battery backup is a joke. Every few months the clock starts flashing "Low Battery". This needs to be fixed. Having to remove the screws out of pressed wood three times a year just to change the batteries again will eventually wear out the screw holes. I do like the 10 minute timer for rag chews for station identification reminders.

Just out of curiosity, you are running the clock on AC or on batteries ?
