- In today's episode, Darren visits the Pearse Lyons Distillery, which has the distinction of having more dead bodies per square yard than all other Dublin distilleries combined!
The whiskey he's tasting? Pearse Genesis, the distillery's multi-award winning inaugural release. Stay tuned and find out if Pearse Genesis does in fact taste like whiskey.
Videography: Grainne Blumenthal
Special thanks to the Pearse Lyons team for providing the samples and the venue for this video.
That was a dram fine video! 😎
ba dum tsss 😂😂😂 love ya Colin
The Emperor of Puns hath spoken!
It doesn't surprise me that Darren *could* talk for 8 hours about the history, what surprises me is he'd only walk 10 meters in that time.
I transition to more of a “shuffle” when I talk about history.
I couldn't understand a word he said without his official whiskey-man glasses...
Same. And without the cardigan, he's barely even qualified.
@@raydenmorris5220 How right you are! I think these videos must have been made by an imposter!
Fantastic! You and Gráinne are a perfect comedy duo Darren!
It runs in the family 😂
@@ThisTastesLikeWhiskey You're my favourite fiblings (for when you're friends who are like siblings)!
@@ThisTastesLikeWhiskeywhat, jeans?
Was this a . . . single Grainne whiskey video? :D
I see what you did there 😂
She was in the video twice, so it was a double Grainne whiskey video.
This has now become a must watch for me.
You had me at:
"at the distillery"❤
Grainne at the end was the Chef's Kiss😂
I'm learning AND laughing?! WHAT MORE COULD ONE WANT!!
It’s info-edu-alco-tainment!
@@ThisTastesLikeWhiskey !!!!OMG....I LOVE this channel & pray you keep adding similar content.
Honestly, you could go into these whiskies "a bit" deeper.
I especially enjoy that Grainne is part of the videos...she's SOOOO COOL!!!!
Best regards from Yucatan Mexico,

This channel is the perfect blend of comedy and information. Great work, Grainne and Darren.
All killer no filler, great start(s) to the channel.
Little Darren boyo trekking off on his own. Fine adventures to ensue I am certain. I hope to see Martin in a cameo in the near future.
I’m not a big whiskey drinker but I followed Darren over from Try and just love his vibe. And great to see Grainne too.
Love watching these!
Gráinne certainly got herself a sexy assistant! Great series so far!
Those stained glass windows are awesome.
I think it’s definitely the most unique of the Dublin Distilleries. When you visit you learn as much about the people in the graveyard as you do about whiskey. It’s awesome.
That is an excellent use of a church.
I think I may be finding faith
A Darren and Grainne whiskey channel? Okay, I'm in.
has one of my fave people from the Try Channel in it... and that bloke as well
I LOVE when old churches get new life, it looks cool af! Thanks for the video!
Great video!! Between the knowledge and the comedy an outstanding vid. Having Grainne especially at the end was a real Bonus!
Subscribed immediately without even atching a video. I knew this would be great! Go Darren! 🥃
I love the pacing, editing and the humor in these so much! I love listening to someone's passion while they're just having fun with it
Darren , you must be The formost Authority on Whiskey in Ireland !!!! Well done Sir !!!! 💚🍀☘️
I think Martin might protest!!!
@@kingsgaurdMartin knows what he likes. Darren knows the background
Had a touble take seeing the pot stills at the alter. I think that is fitting. Still loving the content. Want more and a longer format.
Can’t wait for your visit to Lynchburg, TN and Louisville, KY
Thanks Darren! Whiskey from an Altar... heavenly!
Met Darren in Dublin two years ago. Good to see he’s sharing his knowledge.
For once, the logarithm got it right! The Darren channel we all asked for!
... and I thought my Fridays couldn't get any better!! Cheers!
Great video! Gráinne at the end had me cracking up!
The headstones are beautiful! The whole distillery is, as well.
professional and then funny and back again.
This video popped up in my feed … I guess I watch too many whisky/whiskey videos. I started watching and thought “hold on, I know that guy”, and was wracking my brain trying to place the face. Then Grainne popped in and it hit me BAM! LOL, I remember you saying some time ago on TRY you were going to start a whiskey channel and here it is. Good one. Immediately watched the previous video . Subscribed 👍🏻
That Grainne cameo haha, and this was a hilarious video... just glad the youtube overlords recommended your channel to me, can't wait to see what comes next!
Spirits in a church of the Holy Spirit? 😂 But seriously, that's a lovely distillery. The only sad bit is I'm more likely to win the lottery before I could find a bottle of the Pearse Genny.
YOOOO just found the channel! Super excited!
Great video! Can’t wait for more content!
I'm so glad this popped up in my feed. Immediately liked, subscribed, and clicked the bell! 😊
Well done! Grainne's contribution is noted! Stills on the altar is exactly the right place for them!
Wow thanks for letting me know about a whisky I'll never be able to get.
Big mid-2000s-into-2010s travel show vibes, love love love it!
You two produce a great video. Darren, you are a natural in front of the camera and have a grand knowledge of whiskey. I'm Kentucky, born and bred, so whiskey is my jam. GREAT job!!
This is going to be a fun ride
Well done. Teaching with humor. Can't wait for the blooper and outtake videos in the future.
I love your style. You’re a good teacher.
First I've seen of these and it was great. It's a sub for me.
hahahaha, first episode I've seen and love it. So i watched every single episode on the channel, Subscribed, and then came back to tell you all that... This tastes like whiskey.
instant sub! love it, mate! looking forward to more!
Love the double take @ 2:47: don't question me you noob!
I love this! Great video!
Well done!
Sounds good!
Very cool. Seeing a distillery set up in a church like that makes the Atheist in me very happy for some reason. But idk, maybe if there were more distilleries in churches I would have gone more often. Hahaha
Holy crap! Its Tek knight's whiskey hour!
Somehow you've made it in to the "must watch" category Darren!
hot damn! am i going to get a tour of Ireland's bars and distilleries from try channel Darren? I am here for it. Keep Grainne involved if you can. Lovin the comedy bits. good luck with the new venture.
These videos are amazing! Whiskey knowledge with a comedic spin. Looking forward to more!
Liked, subscribed, alerted, delighted.
I love these. When I was a little kid Dusty's treehouse used to show a how things were made, factory video every Friday. This is just like that.... except with whiskey.
Aha! Subscribed immediately.
Come on, we need the "Darren's whiskey glasses" for it to be believable.
Darren, I visited the Distillery in March of this year. The sampling (flight) was good but clearly the Genesis was the best tasting product. I couldn't afford the 200 euro tag so I left it. I did buy a nice hoodie from the shop.
Good to see you again. I remember meeting you at the #### whiskey shop a few years ago. Keep up the quality videos.
Ah delighted you got to visit them and try their range!
And glad to have met met you at the shop 🙂
lol I don't even drink but the editing was so funny. subscribed
I love these videos. Well done Darren. Now if I can find these in the states, I'll be even happier.
What a gorgeous distillery! You keep releasing videos like this and I'll end up with a whole list of places to visit when I make it back to Ireland. 😊
I live a little over an hour away from the Alltech distillery in Lexington, Kentucky (Town Branch). Was in Dublin a couple months ago, but I wasn't able to see the Pearse Lyons distillery. Thanks for sharing!
Micro distilleries have also been popping up in Canada, thanks mostly to a loosening of post-prohibition laws.
Canadian oak is seldom used for barrels. The climate is not very conducive for oak and the oak that does grow here is too dense to impart much flavour.
Some distillers use maple barrels to "finish" their whisky. It creates a sweeter tasting whisky.
Great stuff.
Thanks.
Don't Worry About It !
that little distillery is beautiful
Now that I know youre doing faux-snobbery whiskey videos with snark, you instantly get a sub. There goes my timeline!
My new favorite channel! 🎉
Man, I love these. And I agree... we need those 8 hours haha
Your sarcastic humor is great
This was a wonderful video. I got into whiskey because of the Try Channel. Love to see people branching out! I hit the subscribe button!
I should add that my favorite whiskey is Redbreast 12 bc of you. (Currently sipping Teeling Blackpits.) You are a great ambassador for whiskey. If you got me to convert, I'm sure you'll convert others.
Ok the soundtrack to these videos has been fantastic. Also HI GRÁINNE!
They missed an opportunity by not leaving the baptismal font up and filling it with whiskey…
That’d definitely cost extra
One day you'll be here in Kentucky doing these videos
Cracking video!
It’s another awesome whiskey lesson and video.
Gráinne!
Lucky you getting to drink that.
Brilliant!!!!
great video - great combo of talent!!!!
Great job Darren!
Two of my favorite Tryers - this is a win/win! New subscription earned!
This whiskey tastes like whiskey.
Loving the vibe of these videos!
What a beautiful place! Someday I hope to visit your fair Isle ✌
Another great video, plus a bottle I've never heard of before! Informative, funny, and the perfect length video. Of course, if you wanted to did more into the history and all that stuff I'd watch that too!
I want the 4 hours and the 4 more hours.
Now that is My type of "confessional;" Bless me Father for I have sinned by not partaken of this heavenly elixir... hmmmm, well, I'll be going downstairs for sure now.
Well done, and I'm truly pleased that you aren't just a human torso on some sort of hampster powered steampunk squid thing.
Subscribed, with enthusiasm!
All the best from Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
Video premise checks out, would-watch-another out of 10.
Couldn't understand him without glasses on 🤓 for the info parts of the video.
another great cameo from the weird person your took the purse from LOL
This is awesome. Instant subscribe.
Love the channel
Hi Gráinne!
Ah! So glad to find this! WHERE ARE THE GLASSES j/k. Great content! That distillery looks so cool, wish you had this channel before I'd traveled to Dublin last spring.
This was cool! Instant subscribe.
