Im on a wait-list for a Greyhound and I would love to know what types of bathroom issues you experienced with tosh- all and any information is helpful. Your videos have been so informative. I'm really excited to be a Greyhound Mom too. 💙
Congrats! Well Tosh still has bathroom issues. Basically if she needs to go to the bathroom and the back door is not open, she just goes on the floor. She is the only greyhound I know with this issue so I don't think it's that typical. We still work on it, but I have a really good carpet cleaner too 😬😆
We adopted our ex racing Greyhound in 2013. She's 11 years old and has never been crated. We adopted her through Greysave and was fostered for about 2 months before we adopted her. She has her own bed and 2 other places, in the kitchen and the back yard. She loves to go for walks and likes to ride in the car. She wrote the book on mellow. Doesn't bark, and runs the house.
We have had Greyhounds, Lurchers and Whippets for 26 years and have never used a crate. I can see why it would be a comfort for them because that is what they are used to, but Evie is our 3rd ex racer and we didn't crate any of them! We are lucky that we live in a little seaside town in Cornwall UK (Very little crime and mild temperatures) so we leave the back door ajar and Evie just pushes it open to go to the toilet outside if she needs to. I haven't managed to teach her to shut it after she has finished though! 😂😂
I think the whole house is too much freedom and if she has to go to the bathroom a little bit she does. But when she is confined, she can hold it. Not sure why. I don't crate her anymore, but I do put up a gate to keep her in her corner bed at night and she is doing well, with no accidents. I guess she feels more comfort and security in a small space.

Hilarious!! We’ve had 5 greyhounds over the past 20 years. Each one protested the crate from the beginning.

That's great! haha...maybe she can learn! :)
Do you think she was going potty in the house out of necessity or out of spite or what?
